Ray saw a lot of himself in him. Both trying to be family men and good fathers but the career path they both chosen is not really allowing them to do so. This is the best bromance I’ve seen.
The level of confidence Ray has to hand a gun back to a guy who'd kidnapped him just hours earlier. Guy has street-smart instincts like a shark's got teeth.
Dave did his job, got paid and the guy he contracted to is lying dead on the floor......... who cares if Ray is still alive? Ray knows he's got Dave by the bollocks any time he needs him, so much so that he turns on his biker "brothers" and helps Ray with the vice chair even after Ray had killed the boss (who Dave was a bodyguard for at one point).
I love Dave's look back at the end. It speaks so much. The fear / apprehension, the understanding of Ray's character, restating he won't forget, and acknowledging the friendship they just established.
This was the best series to come out of Australia in a long time. I loved the way it showed a rawer grittier side of Sydney people. The conversations between ray and his best mate are so true of true Aussie mates……. “Moist”

Dave earned Rays respect. TWICE Dave got Ray and after him sharing similar paths in terms of getting a job done and "nothing personal but its just business" it was awesome to see that even Ray knows its hard to get blokes like that in their field.
When they laugh over the "team up" with Bobby had my dying laughing! Professional to professional laughing about dealing with amateurs. I cried when Dave died.
I couldn’t help but think about people talking about near death experiences about how good their next meal and other common occurrences felt. Imagine this man, a hardened criminal, escaping death purely based on the mercy of the extremely capable potential killer. Only for him to get a new car out of it then with that experience right at the surface of his core chemicals he goes to see his kid being born. This show is something special.
Man just finished this series it's so good. That last episode had me in tears. Especially since alzhiemers and demita and Parkinsons disease have taken several of my family members and watching him let his brother go in peace with a medical assistant suicide killed me. Watch the show you won't regret. And I love gaz great mate even if he likes the pee pee tapes 😅

The guy is in the same "business" as Raymond. He got paid to snatch Ray and bring him somewhere. So he did. Nothing personal. Just another job. What Davros had planned for Ray was on Davros. The thing with the money and the box boiled down to the fact that Davros wasn't paying for more than a snatch. Time wasn't part of the payoff. If he had gotten more he wouldn't have dallied about the box. When he delivered Ray to Davros they had a little chat about that. Davros is looking at his watch. The guy is like: "you didn't pay me to be quick. he's here. pony up."

Sure he would. Saying "Forget it" adds even more value to it. Knowing you owe a debt sucks. Being told you do not owe one, yet knowing in your heart that you do... well that is priceless.

Dave is my 2nd fav character on the show right behind Gaz at number 1. The only thing keeping him out of 1st place is because he name his son Quentin! loooooooooooooool
I think from Rays POV, he wouldn't have acted amy differently if the grenade had killed Dave. He wasn't trying to save him or hurt him, which is why he said forget it.
Ray shoestring is the best character TV has produced. There's been greats, Mike Ehrmentraut. Omar little. Larry David. David Brent. Paulie walnuts. Many more. Ray tops them all.

💯 Matt Nable is a great actor. Calling Ray by his full name makes it even more genuine and shows how much he respects him.
I absolutely loved the way played the scene where Dave goes to meet the douchebag at the panelbeaters.
This one choice gave Ray one of the most clutch, ride or die kinda homies in the series. So awesome.
