The dystopian sound of the first half of this song, the surreal synth and the bass, bass clarinet combo, it's some of the best music I've ever heard. Snarky Puppy continues to blow me away with their new and creative music. Every song is different, and almost every single song is amazing. People who say music isn't what it used to be need to listen to more Snarky Puppy!
finally, someone who put my insane ramblings of why this is one of my favorite songs into a coherent paragraph. couldnt agree more lmao, snarky puppy is such a gem of our time!!
@sandenson, that's one of the reasons I REALLY love these videos! You get to see exactly who is playing what and when they play it; no guess work needed.
This song is such a banger. Hell, this entire album is amazing. So much to appreciate from the entire album. The mixing, playing, chemistry, energy. It's amazing.
So, saving Honiara for last, huh?! Can't wait to play the record in its visual glory! Killer solo too, Justin... What are the possibilities of getting a Bluray so we can crank up the Atmos mix in tandem? 🤞😄
I've decided to get a job that I don't like and work overtime every single day so I can earn enough to see you perform live at least once in my life. Know what? I'll sacrifice my firstborn. I don't even want kids anyway 🙏🏽
At first i was really surprised at the tempo of the song- it seemed really fast. (then i realized I had the player set at 1.5.) 😂Whoops. Now that Ive heard it as it's supposed to be...great work guys😁👍
The only song in which not a solo gets me, but the whole thing (even though the solo is killer), I've been waiting for this since the release Greatest music ever
19 person orchestra to mic up, including 3 massive drum kits, and they still put 3 mics on every horn...the attention to detail and scale of these sessions is hard to even wrap my head around. I'm so curious what the session files look like!
Hey, quick request. Could you arrange the Empire Central playlist so the songs are in album order? Thanks so much! EDIT: It has been done! Thank you to whoever runs this channel!
This is like a present day reincarnation of the Big Bands from Duke E to Tommy Dorsey to Frank Zappa adding 50 years of technology and creativity and sheer musical genius. Saw them play live a couple years ago - mind blown…….
I really love how Bill and the rest of the musicians were able to incorporate a diverse array of styles and influences into the mix and synthesize them into one distinct style and sound that's hard to pinpoint its inspiration at first esp. for the unfamiliar ears. This incarnation of SP has a truly distinct brand of fusion music that easily stands out against its contemporaries, the progressive (as in progressive music e.g. prog rock) quality in their songwriting is apparent here😆
Wonderful writing Mr. Laurance! Another Snarky work that feels like an epic journey across shifting weather, landscapes and textures with a constantly changing crew of guides (melody). The sounds that I gravitated to this time were Shaun’s Talk Box and Chris’s Bass Clarinet. I love the sound of that low, earthy Clarinet beneath the smooth refined horn section/electronics above it and the Talk Box really does insert a human vocal element to the works. Speaking of Bass Clarinet - it takes me back to Don Grolnick’s early ‘90’s Septet recordings that reintroduced me to the beauty of the instrument. And speaking of Mr Grolnick - would I be wrong in hearing a connection between his ‘Hearts and Numbers’ album (an all-time favorite!) and Snarky’s sound?
I can't say what's my favourite track anymore. This is wonderful! Only one question: Is that Adam Neely in the audience sitting in front of Shaun Martin?
People have mentioned snarky puppy several times on Thank you Scientist videos and I finally decided to check them out on this video. IT. DID. NOT. DISSAPOINT.
so basically on this album they kinda play with one drumer and about 5 Percussion guys at any time - but its changing?! ^^ and I'm a drumer wishing to get even one percussion guy added to my band^^
Anyone else noticed that the electric bass was overdubbed at some places? I wonder if they initially planned to do a synth bass on this song. I was just watching this video for the first time, and I don't remember seeing Bobby. It could be that he was playing the now muted, original bassline
@michaelleague3810 Oh wow! I'm amazed, I really thought I was hearing your p-bass. Now that you've pointed it out, I recognize the synthy ness to the bass. Thanks so much!
Just watch their socials 👍🏻 People travel from all over for these. I sat next to folks from Scotland, Montana, Australia, was at this session. Best $200 I have probably ever spent.
Hate to be critical of a band I so admire, but lately what I am hearing is a lot of grooves that don't really go anywhere, except for Broken Arrow, with that amazing piano solo.
RIP Mr Martin

To be sitting in that room during a recording session….bucket list item very near the top.
Easily one of, if not the most underrated track from the album. Such a distinct groove😤
I finally know who played that amazing solo. Props to Justin.
Listening to the album first (without liner notes) I thought for certain it was Bill using the Moog. Justin killed it!
@sandenson, that's one of the reasons I REALLY love these videos! You get to see exactly who is playing what and when they play it; no guess work needed.
@@ironmikesims I thought it was Bill but using the Osmose, because of the expression this solo has. Was shocked to see it's "just" a Prophet.
I can’t stop listening to this masterpiece of music! ❤
Rest in Peace and Rise in Heaven for your reward is great in the Kingdom.
RIP genius Shaun! 😢
Always a good day when Shaun busts out the talkbox!
This song is such a banger. Hell, this entire album is amazing. So much to appreciate from the entire album. The mixing, playing, chemistry, energy. It's amazing.
Didn't give this track a second listen after the first time, but again, as usual, once you see the video it changes everything.
My favourite part of this song is the bass clarinet. It's so dark and grungy. Love it!
This is one of the best in the album, if not, best in the band’s history.
So, saving Honiara for last, huh?! Can't wait to play the record in its visual glory! Killer solo too, Justin...

When Honiara releases I’m playing that shit on repeat 24/7

Let's make a firstborn so we have something to sacrifice.
Sacrifice the kids for the Puppy God
Sounds reasonable
Live!

Bill Laurance seems to have a "thing" for drum&basey rhythms and unique harmonies 😉 Reminds me a bit of "the good man deliver" (not surprisingly)
Watching and listening to this in my studio gives a whole different experience!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fabulous composition. We can recognize the Bill Laurance signature composition with no contest.
YES!!! THIS! BEAT! SLAAAAAAAAAAPS!!!!!!!!!🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤BILL LAURENCE AND JUSTIN STANTON WERE A+ PERFECT!!!
incredible how you can click in any Snarky Puppy track randomly and you know its gonna be a great one!
Sending good thoughts to Shaun and his family ❤

Greatest music ever
These guys play music for musicians! The compositions, arrangements, and performances are all truly on the next level. Just tremendously enjoyable!

Encore un chef d’œuvre de ce groupe que j’adore et que j’ai vu en France . Je déplore l’absence de cory henry du groupe.
WOW! This just the pinnacle of progressive fusion music... Just so great !!!
An addiction ! even the audience didn't want it to end ! Bravo 🔥❤
Yes!! I was waiting for this one!

Почему эта песня такая короткая, она прекрасна чистый кайф, нечто совершенно удивительное, Слава Богу 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
this is crazy guys ; always waiting for new Snarky songs
AMAZING! as usual! :o) Love the ending... and the beginning.... and the middle... bravo!!!
It looks like Glenn Miller has come back from his grave to bring us back some worthy music. Thanks guys.

4 precisionists, 3 keys, 4 horns, 3 guitars and the 3rd best bassist in the group still stands out. :D
wdym 3rd best bassist?? mike league is literally the band runner and has been there from the start
Wow
First Coment 😀now il enjoy the song.
This has the mood of a car chase.
Yeah…..exciting how the pace and arrangement just builds and builds to a stunning finish
Defo could work as a movie soundtrack already! The best contemporary spy/heist thriller soundtrack that never is😤

Stanky Puppy 😮💨
This song gives me Eminem/Detroit vibes ! A Fan from Puerto Rico !!
I can't say what's my favourite track anymore. This is wonderful! Only one question: Is that Adam Neely in the audience sitting in front of Shaun Martin?
Guy with glasses looks like him.

Hi! No overdubs, bass and Moog bass (played by Justin) are switching off.

Does somebody know what is that spring-like sound at 4:07-4:09??

@@benjousan8470 thanks
Is that a Kemper head for the keyboard?
Maybe an unusual thing to notice but that is the dirtiest bass clarinet playing I’ve ever heard!
Only real complaint is the mallet bass drum is a lil overpowering but still a fantastic track :)
Hate to be critical of a band I so admire, but lately what I am hearing is a lot of grooves that don't really go anywhere, except for Broken Arrow, with that amazing piano solo.
This song and Free Fall should swap titles.
