I feel like y'all are missing that the In the Heights movie takes place in modern times, and Blackouts aren't as big of a panic-inducing thing nowadays. Like you can literally just turn on a phone flashlight and go home
@@edwardjacobus6986 I think you're ignoring that this blackout took place right after a fight went down at a club which could have easily lead to someone's death and induce mass panic. Not to mention there were literal thugs and looters who immediately jumped on the opportunity to break into stores and rob them. The characters are aware of the state of the town they live so such an occurrence like this is legitimately dangerous and terrifying. Also most of them did go home right after, they just needed to find the people they came to the club with and were naturally concerned about their safety.
I have been waiting for something like this
Had to come here to cleanse my palate after watching the movie. Nothing beats the OBC. The movie cut out so many things.
The way they cut out a lot of benny and nina's scenes😭
@@sooyeonkim6550 Benny and Nina deserved better. They're leads dammit! Their storyline is so important. And they cut all of it to prop up Usnavi and Vanessa. They didn't need to do that. Ugh :(
@@mione134 its ironic too how they removed the colorism issue that happened between benny and nina's father in the movie but it appeared in a real life issue,
@@mione134 nina and bennys story in the story was underdeveloped and lacked conflict, i wish they showed their conflict at the dinner and at the club& blackout scene, then sunrise !! How could they remove that song😭
@@sooyeonkim6550 AGREED! 100%.
I’ve always wanted to see what was happening during these songs!! Just from the soundtrack you know so much is going on. That kiss with Benny and Nina! OMG!
I remember seeing this with my class back in 2009/10. For our senior trip ! We had so much fun and related so much to the characters and their experiences!! Being there in person with my class, and everyone in the theater will be a core memory for me forever. There’s really no words to describe the energy. Just simply amazing and awesome !!!
Where's my Nina, find my Nina. If you see my family please bring her home. 🥺
I love Nina's Father so much. I wish more of his parts were put in the movie.
It's "please find Nina / find Camila / if you see my family / bring them home" because Camila isn't with him either in that moment, but yeah, I wish we saw more of the original content in the movie too
I really miss 'Inútil'
7:20 pete showing he cares for sonny and wants to protect him and sonny tryign to protect the store he grew up in
i got so startled when blackout started im i
help i love this musical i need to listen to the whole thing
I had only heard the soundtrack before.
Chills, just...chills.
Wish I could have seen it
My high school is doing this musical and I’m so excited to be in it. I’m one of the dancers in the Club scene and IM SHAKING 😁😁
I hope it went well!
that sounds so amazing, i hope you got to do it!
I wish this stayed on broadway. but now we have a movie so its not so bad
YES!!!!!! OBC!!!!
2:19 *Lin...xd*
Ooooh so Benny gets into that fight because the guy is touching Nina inappropriately and won't leave her alone....🤔
Also Pete looking after Sonny until Usnavi can gives me LIFE!
@@nellebolton7910 yeee Sonny and Pete r so cutee
this kind of stuff sadly happens all the time, fortunately in spain it’s become a pride thing to not go after someone who rejected you once, so this kind of stuff has started to become less frequent. That’s a huge step considering how us hispanics are!!
Oh I thought it was cuz he was jealous
@@sharpaycutie2 eh. Its probably a bit of both
I can't describe it, blackout just is an amazing song, I can't explain it, it gives me chills it's beautiful
Blackout is my favourite song from any musical. It gives me chills
I was watching this at 3%, N I N A X B E N N Y
In high school I did sounds for this musical and the blackout moments were the toughest because I had to mute, raise, and cut lights in the sound booth within 10 seconds of each other.
tbh im still a bit bitter they gave nina and benny’s part to vanessa and usnavi in the movie but it’s ok it’s ok
Benny and Nina are glorified extras in the movies
I'm so sad they cut Sunrise
@@aphreyy I know! I was sooo looking forward to it!
@@sarahh1511 yeah it's my favorite song with Breathe. I'm glad they at least put the instrumental part of Sunrise when Usnavi finds the lottery ticket.
@@aphreyy true
This is the part I'm most excited to see when the movie comes out!!!
usnavi punching people *yes*
Anyone else here after seeing the movie?? Overall it was great but I’m so disappointed they changed so much of Blackout :’(
I KNOWWWW BENNY AND NINA HAD NO FIGHTS
AND THEY MADE VANESSA SO UNLIKEABLE
@@sydneytrainsareshit THANK YOU! I thought Vanessa came off alot more unlikable in the movie. Maybe they wanted her that way.
@@tashaglam4824 ikkk wth in the musical she was way better. She seemed so stuck up in the movie.
@@sydneytrainsareshit It's always cool seeing someone with a different opinion. I personally enjoyed the interpretation of Vanessa in the film more than on the stage. Not comparing Karen and Melissa btw, imo they both play their version of the character well
Seriously love the club scene Lin’s dancing is just great I love the character usnavi 😂
Blackout gives me shivers no matter how many times I listen to it!
So originally it was Benny and Nina arguing but int the movie it was Usnavi and Vanessa arguing

Here to cleanse myself of the changes from the film (loved the film btw I just have a soft spot for the original)
I love this club scene sooo much better than the movie.
THIS is beautiful.
Wait, is that the Richard Rodgers?
yep
Mhmm
NO ONE CAN RECREATE THE PANIC LIKE THE OBC IVE CHECKED TRUST ME
this musical makes me feel emotions i never knew i had
0:00 - the club
5:58 - blackout
SO MUCH IS GOING ON, AND IT'S AMAZING
I just recently thought: “where’s Vanessa when the fight breaks out?”
At 5:52 you see her break away from Usnavi to hide in a corner, but then literally 5 seconds later starts kicking someone on the ground 😂💀😂
i am in love with the “oh no”s that the ensemble sing in this song.
the original cast is gold in youtube
This scene could’ve been iconic in the movie had they stuck to the freaking Script
Gracias por subir-lo!

Wouldn't make a bit of sense story wise, but I wouldn't mind living in an alternate universe where this is the finale and I'm Home gets this spot.
the realisation that Sonny’s talking about Usnavi’s store’s garage door “it’s late and this grate won’t come down”, and the flashes of lights are fireworks
i am jealous of the audience that were able to experience that
i don't even know anything about this musical but this song made me want to see it live!
blackout alternate title:
*panic! at the disco*
"Yo, I can't see, quit shovin' mothafucka-"
Usnavi and Hamilton radiate so much short people energy
watching this slime tutorial after seeing the film version blackout just so i could feel something :^/

Vaaaaaanesssssaaaaa
Help me figure out why every time Sonny tries to close the grate but it's stuck I start to choke up
I remember watching the movie {I don't usually cry during movies} and when abuela died, I cried so much.
Wait abuela died!!!!!!
Love. This. PERIOD!!!
My biggest flex is being a theater kid before tik tok made it cool to be one
Not complaining though, musicals are amazing and I’m glad many people are discovering musicals and loving them
it is not and never will be cool to be a theater kid
TikTok doesn’t think it cool lmao we’re still seen as being weird
I was just watching this on my break because i wanted to see how they did the scene… and uh..
Anyways i’m crying now. I didn’t expect to feel so moved like this
