I own a 2015 C7 Z06 manual. It’s my 3rd Corvette. I’ve had close to 50 cars. This is my favorite car.
The 7 speed is not overkill at all. You drive it like a normal 6 speed manual. 7th is a double overdrive, you only use it when you're going above 65 mph on the freeway. It's really nice to have on long trips, and it allows you to get relatively good MPG.

I'll never understand why people say anything like that. It's just as dumb as saying 650 HP might be overkill, but 505 isn't. Um, exactly as Vernon said. Just treat it like a six speed except on the highway. DF.

Mmmmm for what this car sells for new, how bout a viper? Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 Turbo S. Considering you can get all of the above cars for sub 100k when these z07 pack cars go for over 100k new

† here here!!! I think I saw car and driver pull a 2.7 0-60 on their latest test in 2018. Now I’m trying to think.... C7 Z06 has a zero to 60 from the same magazine, and driver doing a..... oh here it is - 3.5. People forget how big of a difference almost a full second makes.

I had a 2012 Centennial Z06 for 3yrs...wow a great car AND I traded it in on a 2017 Z06 M7 CCB....Big jump in performance and comfort
Daily mine every single day, picked up a 19 in February in Montana. Driven it every day since, rain, snow or shine. 4500 miles on it so far. Love it. Buy one Riley.
You should seriously look into getting a ZL1. If you plan on changing vehicles..... Again.

It seems like everyone and their mom is selling their Z06 and Zr1s on the forum. It’s a great opportunity to pick up one of these badass cars for sure. Especially if you have Cash you could talk them down a little more.

I've owned a 1988 Z51, 1991 ZR-1, a 2011 CTS-V, and I now own a 2016 Z06, convertible, 3LZ, in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. Best Corvette ever. I respect the new C8s, but I like the looks of the C7s so much better. Thanks for the video!
I own a '16 3LZ Z06 A8 Vert with 4K miles and they are fun cars...mine is driven occasionally as a recreation vehicle...when you turn the nanny off it is a blast.
Yes get it as a next car so when you’re done upgrading it and want to sell it after 6 months of ownership I can purchase it for the low

I have a '13 427 convertible. I've changed out the terrible double din system and put front and rear cameras in, which takes care of the interior. Next, I'm strongly considering getting the 685HP supercharger package from Vengeance, as they're right up the road from me. That should pretty much make it perfect, I think.
I had a 06 z06, do an N/A build. Vengeance did a stage 5 on mine and it sounded glorious. I sold it to save up for a c7 z06 but man I miss it.
@@NakedChicken69 I want it to be highly streetable, which a supercharger affords. To get the same kind of power NA, you've got to go with a fairly radical cam (H/C/I), which wouldn't be enjoyable to me. The only advantage of NA I see is that it takes care of the potential LS7 valve guide issue.
I have a stock 08c6z06, pioneer double din with front rear camera and I can hang any day with my friends stock c7z06! He pulls but half a car length if anything!

just kidding! awesome review and totally badass car, I have driven my 16 C7Z 10k miles and absolutely love it.
if you get one, look for the "norcal ss" cat delete pipes on corvetteforum. the computer still controls the exhast valves but with the valves open and the cat delete pipes its LOUD. EXTREMEMLY LOUD. also, if you do want supercharger whine you can remove the weatherstrip that seals the hood.

You get the pops and crackles on the automatic, plus it really POPS and CRACKLES downshifting in paddle shifting.
How would you compare this to the c6 Zr1?
Get rid of the fuse #20 being on race mode then you should do the sound check whilst driving.

I'm thinking about getting either a 2015 or 2016 3lz with at least less than 15k miles on it for under 65k, I'm not sure of the difference between the 1lz-3lz packages but I want an auto because I live close to the city besides all of that is 15k miles too much I definitely wana get it with less as possible but no more than 65k

When are you going to review a bone stock c6z06?! I've seen the heads/cam silver one and c6zr1. Possibly the best bang for the buc right now! 25-40k depending on miles! I think you would be surprised on how fast this car is bone stock with only 505hp.

Get it RP, then trade up to get that ZR1
If it pops and crackles on downshift your fueling maps are off. I get in the cars that do that and it annoys me.
If you're going to get one, get it before the mid-engine monstrosity hits dealer lots and sends the market for the C7 through the roof.

Im 6'3" gf is 6'1", bought c6 new but got charger hellcat instead of c7 z06 or camaro zl1 cause we don't fit in them. The heat management is trash on c7z06 as well.
@Trevon Adams 2017 revisions did not solve, class action underway. Zr1 is fixed because larger hood and not sold in europe... #fuckgm

I'm 6'3 and I fit in the C7 just fine. And yes, all the heat management stuff was fixed on the Z06 by adding additional cooling.
I'm 6'3 and 250 and fit just fine. The C8 I sat in seemed small.

I do hope that GM doesn't completely kill off the manual Front engined Corvettes that they have been doing for so long. Maybe they'll give the mid engined its time to shine for a couple of years then offer the traditional corvette because people still want them.
I think they will do exactly that, they doubled the size of the plant for some good reason 🤔

3lz manual can be had new for 81kish.
Im paying 77k for a 2lz manual with CF aero package. Remove the aero and youre down to 75. Remove 2lz and you're close to 70.

Rusty Zipper How so? If I had the finances to afford a ACR I would daily it. Regardless of how rough it is.
I hear you man and love your enthusiasm 💯👍 If you watch Salmondrin (2 years back- “banging gears”) and DHRstreetSpeed they both will tell you that the ACR is absolutely miserable to drive on the street. The exhaust will burn your legs, it’s cramped inside, minimal traction control, stiff clutch, terrible blind spots etc. Don’t get me wrong I would buy the ACR just to have if I could manage $150 k laying around because they hold their value decent. Most guys only take them to cars and coffee , a few do actually track them , none that I know will daily drive them. Closest I’ve seen is Bryan Savage with an Orange T/A on Instagram and YT : he knows what I am talking about as I honestly know little about Vipers
Rusty Zipper I gotcha. And I live and drive cars how I want and what I feel like they should be. Most people only track it or take it out every weekend for a couple hours. Which is cool. That’s just not me and I don’t believe in that honestly. I daily my C5 and have been for 3 years now. I’m 22, and absolutely love it! Here in Ohio with all the weather we have I don’t see many vette owners doing that. If I had a new z06 I’d daily that too. Idc about resale and depreciation like others do, I just care about me and the car and enjoying life. Lol 😁

How big ? Get the GT seats , competition are a bit tight

Riley, I think you would prefer a Grand Sport or a Z51 with a Supercharger. Much more affordable and just as fast!
The ZO6 comes with forged internals from the factory. Just slapping a blower on a base model won't do the car justice.
@@danklei9387 Not a base a Z51 has the forged Crank as does the GS. The dry sump cars can handle a lot of boost. I'm making 540whp on 91 without an issue with just a blower, catless x pipe, and intake. I could make more but I have the A6 trans and don't want to have to build it yet.
@@DirtDude117 pretty sure all vettes come with a forged crank, but the zo6 has lower compression forged pistons as well. I could he wrong on my facts I'll look it up again. But that's more or less what I was getting at. Not knocking a blown Grand sport or anything..I'm sure it's still a badass car
@@danklei9387 Yes they all do have the oil squirters and a forged Crank. The Z51 has the stronger one and also different rings and PCV system. The Z06 gets the better pistons, best rings, and wrist pins. Both engines can handle a lot of boost. North of 700whp a Z06 makes sense.
With a Procharger style blower a GS is faster and has less heatsoak with better drivability. You can also find LT4 blowers cheap too
