Before the 80’s, there was a guy named “Pistol” Pete Maravich. He was showtime before Magic. That dude was amazing. He was so good he couldn’t help but show off. The three point line showed up in 1977; Pistol Pete retired in 1980. If the three point line had existed during his whole career, he would have broken so many scoring records it’d be ridiculous. Check him out. He’s one of the greats.
Crazy thing about Pistol, is that he only played *10 seasons* due to injuries, and is still one of the top 75 of all time, and a HOF. Let that sink in. Probably the greatest college player ever. Those records will never be broken, unless top talent start to reconsider the NCAA again.
Two things: J-Will(or White Chocolate, if you prefer) went to HS in rural West Virginia, balling out on his team even then. He made a really good tandem with the team's power forward, but that power forward decided to focus on his football skills after he graduated, ending up in the NFL draft. That power forward....was Randy Moss. Shaq said in an interview with KG: "You know who was really fun to play with? White Chocolate, in Miami. White Chocolate was nice to play with cause I could just put my hand up like that, and the ball would be right there, every time. Every time. Every. Time."
I'm from West Virginia, and about 2 hrs. south of where Williams and Moss grew up. I was at the state tournament in Charleston and watched both of them ball! They played for Dupont HS and I saw them beat Beckley-Woodrow Wilson in the quarters. White Chocolate was displaying his handles and assists, but it was Moss that put on a show. At the time, I thought Randy was going to be their biggest basketball star, until he went to ND and then transferred to Marshall and became a gridiron legend at WR. Dupont went on to win the title that year in hoops and I was so glad I was there, because I knew that they were going to be future stars in the League; you could see the skillset. He has a son playing high school basketball; he has some BIG shoes to fill, but also a great teacher.
I live in Orlando. Had no idea he lives here. I used to live in the same building as some of the short contract Magic players, they'd rent the penthouses on the top floor but the hoops were on the 7th, right below my balcony. They used to go down there play pickup games and cookout. It was unreal how good even mid level NBA players are seeing them play like that. Was like watching some super heroes play basketball. They hit every shot when ungaurded. I mean EVERY shot. Saw one hit like 15 3s in a row like nothing, talking to somebody the whole time he was doing it. Names I remember were JJ Reddick, Ryan Anderson, Big Baby Davis, another dude who wasn't even in the NBA but played for a top D1 school. He could even hit threes like you've never seen and was 6'6"/6'7". Have some pictures saved in the cloud somewhere. It was an experience I'll never forget. They were that good.

When I was a kid I never missed a kings game. They were by far the funnest team to watch and jason williams was a big part of it. I remember watching the games with my dad and he would say "this guy's a psycopath" because he did whatever he wanted, sometimes it was great assists, and sometimes he would take a shot from the middle of the court when the smart thing was to run out the clock. He just didn't give a f*ck.
His jersey sales were up there with Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter. He was must see tv and every NBA countdown had at more Kings highlights than any other team because of him.
We had season tickets during this run for the Kings. That was a freakn FUN team to watch play. These highlights don’t even do Jason or this team justice.
I remember when he was basically the entire ESPN Top 10 plays of the week. If the Kings were ever going to win it all, it was the 2000-2001 seasons when they had Williams, Webber, Divac, and Peja. That was a fun team to watch. If I remember correctly, they should have beaten the Lakers in I think 2001 but the refs made multiple terrible calls in a series ending game that Sacramento was winning. I also remember the Kings traded Williams for Bobby around that time too which I never really agreed with. Bobby was a very good player but I think Williams was a better PG where Bobby was a little better of a scorer.
You guys could also watch the documentary they did on that kings lakers series... HBO also did a good documentary Courtship of Rivals about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
What’s crazy is he was Randy Moss’s QB and point guard in high school. They went to Nitro in WV. Their football team destroyed my high school football team in the state title game. Moss scored a TD every way possible.
Ooohhh.... you boys are in for a treat. Greatest impact on a bad team in a rookie year I've ever seen from any point guard. And was high as hell on weed for the entire duration of his career. Even in high school smoking out then playing with Randy Moss, even won a state title together. Best friends since they were babies who ended smoking buddies & teammates. You guys should watch Penny Hardaway’s highlights. He was on his way to being the goat til he blew his knee out. Dude was an absolute beast. Shaq played with him and in an interview he said he thought Penny was better than kobe.
White Chocolate! He had a really good stretch in the NBA, where he was talked about as being among the best players at the time. Obviously it didn’t last long enough to get him into the HOF - or for him to be a fringe HOFer - but he was still great in that stretch. (KG gave him a big shout out during an interview, I think was w Brian Scalabrini, about the best young players, comparing them to past players, & it’s no small feat to make a lasting impression of how skilled a player you were, on an all-time great like Garnett!)
This brings back memories guys. I was trying his moves when I was ballin. The trade for Bibby though was clutch. If the Refs didn't blow game 6 of the WCF, the Kings would have brought a title to Sactown.
"but pistol pete so damn old" hahahaha it's true, speaking of jelly though... the harlem globetrotters players were the inventors of jelly way before any NBA players... and than pistol pete... he would be a good reaction but there's not a lot of footage of him online, the odd compilation here or there i guess.

Thank you guys for watching J Wil!!! I didn't care what team he was on, I just loved watching him! So glad he was able to get a ring even if it was later in his career. I always thought he had eyes in the back of his head. I'd say his play is 70% talent-30% practice. He has a son playing high school basketball; he has some BIG shoes to fill, but also a great teacher.
Magic Johnson once said in an interview the Jason Williams was his favorite PG to watch facilitate on the court. That's all the cred you need.
Love watching you guys get to experience Jason for the first time. He actually still plays pick up games every week in Orlando at the rec.
I idealized Jason more than I did mike in those years. He was just different and there still isn't a passer like him. The Kings were a great team to watch back then.. Hopefully his son will be there one day.
Dudes...I remember watching him back in the day, and I thought it was gonna lead to a generation of White Chocolates....it really didn't 😅..he was THAT GOOD!
@@specialk4125 I can name 30 people doing that.
🌽
@@TheIcemanthomas name them
@@TheIcemanthomas lol this idiot …. You know 30 white guys that could do this???? Guarantee you’re googling and watching UA-cams videos to find some 😂😂😂 Because when Jordan, Shaq, Lebron say there was no one like him, there was no one like him
@@TheIcemanthomas no you can't
Jason Williams is originally from a small town in West Virginia. During his high school playing days his teammate was Randy Moss. Yes, Randy Moss of the NFL! Imagine all those flashy passes to a freak athlete like Moss. Those high school games had to be insane.
I've seen his highlights plenty of times, just came to watch y'all be amazed 👏🏼
Love to see young kingz out here doing positive things. Keep grinding family blessing energy will come yalls way.
J-Will, Webber, Divac, Peja, Bobby Jackson and Scott Pollard on the same team. We didn't get a ring but damn it was fun.
No love for Big Nasty.
There was a couple of years there where Peja was off the hook. I saw him in a game against the Clippers where he was like 19/20, had something like 45 and sat the whole 4th quarter. Unreal.
Jason Williams was one of my good friends in high school. I played against Jason Williams and Randy Moss in 1994 and they beat our butts all over the court in Charleston, WV. Jason is, was and always will be the greatest ball handler since Pistol Pete Maravich!! Great video guys!! I love yalls videos
Played with him alot in his freshman year at Marshall when he sat out. The guy was cold then. It was obvious he was gonna go to the NBA
Sure you did buddy🤣🤣👌
@@colbymasvidal2397 why would someone lie about playing college basketball in 2022. It can be easily looked up...
@@kennyfleck8630 high school, but I get your message.
@@kennyfleck8630 A whole pack of lies coming from nerds and virgins
@@colbymasvidal2397 ok, he and Keith Veney who was friends with a high school teammate of mine Anwar McQueen who played at Cal. Played 2-2 full court often because they both were sitting out their first year at Marshall(Jason left to Florida once Donovan got the coaching job there) and I played most of those games with them. Keith is famous for having the NCAA record for 3 a game at Marshall. Look it all up.
Why am I just seeing this now?! WHITE CHOCOLATE not alot of people remember. Some of the cleanest handles and passing in NBA history.
Williams was one of my favorite players. He was the closest to a street baller that I ever saw growing up. They don’t call him white chocolate for nothing
Skip to my Lou played pro
J Will playing basketball with Randy Moss in high school.
I believe they played football together too, J Will was the QB.
Don’t quote me but I believe JW was all state in football and moss was all state in basketball
That era of the Kings had some all time lineups. Hugely innovative and influential.
He is definitely underappreciated but I'm glad he was able to contribute and get that ring with the Heat. Wade and Shaq definitely had love for him
Everybody else has great Pistol Pete highlights!!
His jersey sales were up there with Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter. He was must see tv and every NBA countdown had at more Kings highlights than any other team because of him.
Elbow pass he had in the Allstar game was insane
Rising stars not all-star
Pete Maravich was the guy both Magic Johnson and Jason Williams borrowed so many of their moves from. Check him out next.
^^ this guy knows what's up
Ooohhh.... you boys are in for a treat. Greatest impact on a bad team in a rookie year I've ever seen from any point guard. And was high as hell on weed for the entire duration of his career. Even in high school smoking out then playing with Randy Moss, even won a state title together. Best friends since they were babies who ended smoking buddies & teammates. J-Dub was qb in football and played point in basketball.
Luv all yall Boyz content. Keep grinding 💯.
* H Town luv*
Yezzir my fellow Houstonian 👏🏼
I was in high school during Jason Williams' prime. His spatial awareness on the court was astonishing. He gave hope to white boys everywhere.
You guys should watch Penny Hardaway’s highlights. He was on his way to being the goat til he blew his knee out. Dude was an absolute beast. Shaq played with him and in an interview he said he thought Penny was better than kobe.
Jason Williams and Vince Carter the same year. Highlights of Passes adn Dunks that even the homecourt Teams applauding. Early 2K was amazing
I grew up watching Jason Williams. Nice to see the youngsters studying the game.
No way in hell that y'all never seen white chocolate before. The elbow pass is absolutely one of the best NBA highlights of all time.
He was a lot of fun to watch play.
This has become my favorite channel. You guys are just hangin out and it’s so casual
One of the best passers of all time, very unselfish!
I feeel old af knowing this guy didn’t watch Jason play god damn 😂
man i was in HS when JWill came up.
He is still playing. There are videos of him playing in local adult leagues. He doesn't go as hard but he is still putting on a show for fun.
Love some J-Will!!
Y’all should react to Pistol Pete Maravich highlights ✊🏼 🏀
This brings back memories guys. I was trying his moves when I was ballin. The trade for Bibby though was clutch. If the Refs didn't blow game 6 of the WCF, the Kings would have brought a title to Sactown.
"but pistol pete so damn old" hahahaha it's true, speaking of jelly though... the harlem globetrotters players were the inventors of jelly way before any NBA players... and than pistol pete... he would be a good reaction but there's not a lot of footage of him online, the odd compilation here or there i guess.
He was the starting point guard for the Heat when they won the Championship against the Mavs. Played with Wade and Shaq.
Why does every sports convo have to devolve into "goat" chatter these days. I love how the younger generation have never watched any of these players in these YT highlight video reactions, yet incessantly and I mean incessantly, debate the 'greatest player of all time'. And I thought we were bad 15 years ago. It's so silly.
And my Gen X'ers did the same damn thing when we were in college.
@@Hooderaw Wow, who knew they had YT back then. Guess you learn something new every day!
@@tubiviral9093 why would you need yt to debate the greatest? You can still say Jordan, magic, Kareem, we’re greater than wilt or bill without ever seeing them play. People really live their life by UA-cam 😂
@@surf972 What on earth are you babbling on about?! No, you cannot debate who the greatest was without ever having seen said players actually play, which was the point that went over your head. Well, technically you can, but it would be about as useful as getting self help advice from a 10 year old.
I love how the older generation expects the younger generation to watch black and white footage in order to debate sports. I guess TubiViral has never participated in a baseball or football debate over the greatest of all time, unless he has very rare footage of older games from those sports. Of course, it really doesn't affect the status of players when youngsters debate on who they think is the greatest, And some fans will always choose their favorite player when discussing current greatest, even though they haven't watched every game, so they haven't even seen every player except for highlights. Damn, can't discuss history, since I wasn't alive during the world wars, wait a minute, some history teachers weren't alive either, his can they teach it.....hey guys, stop discussing things that didn't happen in your lifetime too. How can you compare any current recession to the great depression? You weren't there, man.
Always love that talent. Pistol Pete, Tiny Archibald, J Will, etc.
Being 51..i love to see how you young playas react to what we grew up on..💯💪
So y’all know, the dude put in mad work on his skills. His Dad was a state trooper who would help with security for their high school games so he had the keys to the gym. The dude would put a target on the wall and practice hitting it. That’s why he can dime like he does. Hard work!!! His jersey was the number one seller his time with Sacramento. Glad I can drop some knowledge
When it comes to street passing
JK is def the goat. That man could play for real. Best highlights I've ever seen with the pass game
First Time Watching "You Guys"...thanks for appreciating the era of basketball I grew up in. I'm subscribing.
I saw JWill live play the Sixers in Philly, and he was so entertaining the entire crowd rooted him instead of the Sixers. Have never seen anything like it in any sport!
The speed of those behing back passes are supreme! Like unbelievably fast!
One of the most underrated clips on here is Williams vs Williams. One from outside Charleston, WV and the other from my hometown of Williamstown, WV.
He was colorblind as well, great player imo. Respect and Love from Townsend Tennessee.
J Will was soooo underrated and under appreciated. He was also sooo far ahead of his time
Jason was "The Professor" Bucher if he was taller, faster, had longer arms, a better passer, and got out of HS 10 years earlier. Guy was a monster ball handler, the best passer in the game, and so much fun to watch. He had some problems with the teams he wound up on after Sacramento not knowing how to best use him (plus injuries), but he still had a hell of a career. Shaq speaks GLOWINGLY of playing with him and Jason being one of his favorite players to work with.
yall young fellas was lucky. i was in 7th-10th grade during jason prime. Had to stay up for the 1am sportcenter to watch Jason highlights. Yall have youtube. Keep up the content
The crazy thing about the first clip against Gary is not only that it’s “the glove” getting schooled but also that Payton would go on to finally get his one and only ring in Miami as Jason William’s backup.
I grew up in WV, played AAU basketball and graduated in 1996 - so I got to see ALOT of J Will and Randy moss bball and football action! I didn’t realize what I was experiencing but I knew it was something special!
#304
the baggy jersey, the headband. Everyone in my elementary school wanted to be like J-Will!
I was In high School when he 1st came into the League. he was absolutely SPECIAL
As someone who has gotten to watch Magic, Stockton, Rondo, and Williams in person, I will confidently say Jason is the greatest passer and ball handler to play the game.
I was getting them gains in last night and I look over and ‘White Chocolate’ aka ‘Salty Chocolate’ was getting in a workout in the weight room. What an honor to be in his presence
kyrie has nice handles too, he learned a lot from his godfather rod strickland, another 90s star. mid 90s sonics were fun to watch with payton and kemp. like 92-98, they really brought back the ally oop. or just kemp (reign man)dunks in general were crazy
To execute those passes in a tight game in NBA is insane! The confidence level is legit.
When I was a kid, I was up in Gainesville watching J-Dub workout right after he transferred there, and he showed me a drill using metal gardening gloves to work on your handles and passes. I went from and okay handle to a ridiculous handle in one summer.
I definitely expected a lot of "oooooooh, deeeeeeaaaaammmmm"
lol.😆
Jason was one of the first to combine street ball with pro ball in a way that worked. He was nasty.
I missed him with the Kings. We got Mike Bibby instead, who had better numbers, but it wasn't the same.
Crazy. Grew up with Randy Moss. Played with greatness most of life
Jason grew up with Randy Moss as they both played some ball together. You "youngsters" might not recall a '99 Nike commercial with Waylon Jennings singing the song to the "Dukes of Hazzard" opening, as the clip showed a good many highlights of those two growing up through the years & even a few on the court, as it was very impressive.
Jason Williams, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash is why I wanted to play PG until I grew to be 6'2 and had to play SG
Love to watch J Will. One of his problems was not just that the defense didn't know what he was gonna do, neither did his own team, but sure fun as a fanboy.
J-Will's handle is so strong. his ball in hand air time is one of the greatest.
I remember the Kings taking Sacramento and the central valley by storm back then. Tons of kings fans because of those teams
The Kings were so much fun in the late 90s. Robert Horry was our nemesis. His last minute 3s kept us from beating the Lakers.
J Will was a lot of fun. Once a game he would do something you'd never seen before.
You all seem like some straight up cool dudes. Thanks for the videos.
Loved white Chocolate on the ‘06 Heat. What a team of characters
Jason went to same high school as Randy Moss. Played together on basketball and football teams. Williams was player of the year in football, Moss in basketball.
