Ok let’s clarify some things. Kia isn’t tuned, it’s 100% stock, engine, tranny, it does have a muffler just for sound and some cosmetic changes. Engine is stock like the day is bright.
Sam, I own a 2018 GT2 RWD and yes it’s fast. But I’m not going to walk a G70 with a similar setup. The posted specs were 0-60 Stinger 4.7, G70 4.5. Granting different day different drivers, still not a walk. Still, I’m enjoying the channel, new find.
It doesn't have a muffler? So muffler delete? You say it just for sound, but if you remove mufflers , specially on a turbocharged car it will make a noticable difference in power with less back pressure . Plus for a turbo car a straight pipe no muffler is most ideal set up. With less back pressure the car could possible even be making a PSI or so more boost too. Other thing is, the KIA has aftermarket wheels. If you save 10+ lbs per wheel in unsprung weight, that also could cause these KIA wins.
Its also got lighter wheels which reduces unsprung mass, it is lowered which makes for better high-speed aero and you can clearly see the Stinger was using the e-brake launch technique. Do you honestly believe people who are into these types of cars wouldn't notice these things? Its like you lifting off the throttle against the Type S and claiming the 2nd race was closer. @@CanadianMax lol that poor Type S carried all the hype but none of the heat. 5.2 second 0-60 and 13.5 would have been awesome for 2010. Disappointed in Acura. They’ve really just gone with the “good enough” approach since 09.
Odd to see, considering every review I've read says the G70 is equally as fast, if not a bit faster due to being lighter. I would love to see a driver swap as the G70 drivers loses on a handful of launches, costing the race from the very beginning.
Actually because of the weight of the stinger they gave it a slightly more HP I think like +3hp more than the g70 and also the stinger has a tiny bit longer of a transmission and sleeker body for a sportier look while the g70 tried to keep the same natural sport sedan image that most other brands have used such as Mazda.
So the thing is even lowering springs can effect acceleration heavily depending on spring rates. Even stock for stock without power adders that could make all the difference
I checked out the Genesis,s the other day and they are nice, even the SUVs. I like the bigger G80 5 ltr. Plus it comes with TVs for all my grandkids lol
Interesting how the same make, model and year cars can be so different from each other. On Throttle House their results were exact opposite. The G70 beat the Stinger everytime.
@@kimmeysam I agree. I had a 2013 genesis coupe 2.0t with exhaust and wheels at the time and I would pull my buddies stock 2014 2.0t by around 3-4 cars. They were spec’d exactly the same otherwise. Once I got tuned (stage 1 SFR tune) it was a murder scene and I put busses on him so I highly doubt the Kia is tuned.
In such a close match, plenty of factors will play in. A car with 15-20k miles will actually be faster because of break in. Also the rest is going to come down to any specific mods and the reaction time of the drivers.

This makes zero sense with the G70's 136lb weight advantage imo. The 2022 Stinger gained 3hp due to a different exhaust, but the G70 is still rated at 365 for 2022. The Stinger in the video appears to be a 2018-2021 model though, so that wouldn't apply. Maybe that Stinger isn't as stock as the owner says it is. 🤷♂️
@The Real Cat of 2020 theyre both geared the same and both have not just AWD but the SAME AWD lol, the stinger is heavier and should be slower and that’s evident with 0-60 times for both cars from car magazines
A small of a difference of the Stinger with it's aftermarket wheels could be 10 lbs a wheel lighter than the 34-35 lb stock wheel. With 10 lbs of unsprung weight at each wheel could cause this little difference in the Kia being faster.
Lighter wheels, lowering springs and exhaust do play a key in this race. For reference, the stock Stinger wheels are 19x8/8.5 and weigh 34-35lbs and I put on 20x10s and they are 24lbs each. 40lbs of unsprung weight loss is a good amount of weight loss.

style sure, but comfort? never been in a g70 but seen alot of reviews saying that the g70 is a bit stiffer and has a more sportier feeling than the stinger due to its shorter wheelbase which also makes the drive sharper on corners with less body roll than the stinger, but the stinger has a more Grand Touring feeling making it more comfortable on long trips due to its longer wheelbase, other than that they're basically the same mechanically.

it has a muffler delete which isn't just a sound thing, it does give a little bit of a performance boost that you can see here. also has after market wheels which are lighter and also help. this isn't a true stock vs stock comparison
For those in the comments wondering about whether or not this Stinger has worked done.... this is simply a special edition named Scorpion, not much changes between it and the GT2, different wheels and bit more aerodinamic
So the Scorpion rear spoiler was removed and another spoiler substituted ; I thought the only other differences were just the blacked out trim and wheels?
Correct me if I’m wrong but it does sound like the stinger has Some mods done maybe downpipes and obviously you can see different rims much lighter I’m Guessing but still a really impressive race 💯🔥
Lightly modded Stinger vs Stock G70 isnt a really fair comparison. The Stinger has lighter wheels, lowering springs and an exhaust. Even untuned the exhaust does make a tiny difference.
Yep light weight wheel/tire combo (say, about 5lbs on each corner) makes a heck of a difference; something like 2 tenths in the quarter mile, which is roughly two car lengths.
You're probably tired of hearing this, but we may take the driver out of the equation if you guys switch cars every second run. StraightPipes did this with Corvette versus Porsche and Jacob won every race in both cars. I'm not convinced the Stinger is that much faster consistently.
I think its easier to do with two person format. Not sure all of the participants in these races are comfortable on screen and may do a disservice to the videos. A lot about a channel is the person that runs the channel. Not that I disagree with your premise but ya, hard when its a single host format. It seems there is a lot of proprietary-format conduct on YT from channel to channel in the automotive genre or, its a gentlemen's unwritten agreement to not tread on other formats.

Pretty well known in stock form that the RWD Stinger GT is quicker and faster than the AWD version. The 2019 and up has a factory limited slip rear differential. Try the AWD vs RWD Stinger race. The RWD doesn't have traction issues in near stock form. My 19 GT1 RWD just hooks and goes.
G70 should be slightly faster since it's a bit lighter and the engine and transmission are the same. The results of the race I will chalk up to random variance in all production cars. I still believe the g70 is the sightly faster (although close enough that it doesn't really matter).
Wow, this literally suprised me. I mean other than both having the same engine, my money was on G70!(based on being lighter). Crap, I had betrayed my stinger community since I have 1(kneeling to the floor of shame)..🤣
I called this one. I knew the ECU tuning was more aggressive in the Kia which has to explain why it can launch harder against the lighter G70. Hyundai needs to step up their game.
Engine tuning is the same, it’s not more aggressive in the Stinger. Maybe it’s the exhaust work that’s causing the difference since these 3.3 v6 engines are pretty sensitive to just a muffler delete or a cbe
There is a video on this channel where a Q50 red sport absolutely obliterates a Stinger... He just showed a video where a G70 and a Q50 RS runs head-to-head... And now all of a sudden, this "stock" Stinger is faster than the G70?? What a joke
I believe that Stinger is modded! There’s no way the Stinger pulls like that on a car that weighs significantly less and has the same horsepower and torque as itself. Something fishy is going on here Lol
I watched that video and it didn’t obliterate it. The Q50 launched quite a bit before the Stinger did too. But I do agree I think this Stinger has mods. It doesn’t sound like my GT1 with the exhaust pooping like it did around the 5:43 mark.
Myself and some friends have been speculating on the Stinger vs G70 when watching these videos, wondering if the G70 might have a more comfortable state of tune in the transmission and perhaps some different gearing that gives the Stinger some edge (despite being heavier)? I wonder if this Stinger would be a better fight against the M340i?
Someone said that the stinger has an intake which shouldn't make too much of a difference without a tune. Id say the kia just has a slightly more aggressive factory tune.
Stinger just launches better. It would still get killed by m340i lol. But yea just has better launches. But you can see the weight catch up to it in roll race.
The Stinger clearly launched with the parking brake (that builds boost) vs the G70 standard Launch Control that doesn't. On the rolling races, the cars are virtually dead even.
No they arent. You can clearly see the stinger gaining up on the G70 in rolling races even tho it’s heavier. The stinger is clearly not stock. If it is then Kia is hiding some magic from genesis lol
@@acuras4ever I agree that the Stinger is not stock, but that fact that the Stinger was much faster off the line and as dominating on the roll would suggest the Stinger owner launching his car properly and Sam doing Sam things...

@@CanadianMax lol that poor Type S carried all the hype but none of the heat. 5.2 second 0-60 and 13.5 would have been awesome for 2010. Disappointed in Acura. They’ve really just gone with the “good enough” approach since 09.
The new g70 exhaust farts on upshift lol I would assume stingers does too.
@@Tsand4 you know what they say about assume...
I own both. Put a windbooster on accelerator pedal and they're both fast. Take the lag out of drive by line, but yes, they are pretty equal
Odd to see, considering every review I've read says the G70 is equally as fast, if not a bit faster due to being lighter. I would love to see a driver swap as the G70 drivers loses on a handful of launches, costing the race from the very beginning.
Stock wheels are so heavy getting aftermarket wheels help alot
Actually because of the weight of the stinger they gave it a slightly more HP I think like +3hp more than the g70 and also the stinger has a tiny bit longer of a transmission and sleeker body for a sportier look while the g70 tried to keep the same natural sport sedan image that most other brands have used such as Mazda.
The stinger does so well on a stationary take off because the torque seriously kicks in at really low rpms, I believe 1900
1300
So the thing is even lowering springs can effect acceleration heavily depending on spring rates. Even stock for stock without power adders that could make all the difference
Yeah, spring rates effect traction. This is just basic car knowledge.

It even looks better in person. That nardo grey one is 🔥🔥🔥
Interesting how the same make, model and year cars can be so different from each other. On Throttle House their results were exact opposite. The G70 beat the Stinger everytime.
This stinger got catback exhaust and lighter wheels. Wheels make a big different if u own one of these car it’s a must do mod.

@The Real Cat of 2020
Ok, but he said both were awd at the beginning. I also think the 8spd transmissions are geared the same, but could be wrong.
@@Boosted00
Great point. It definitely couldn't hurt it, that's for sure.
Aerodynamic. Stinger has more aerodynamic shape
Great match, I'm guessing the aero dynamics had a big role playing on this one.
Yup. Because both have same engine and transmission (with G70 been a bit lighter too) so the Aero kit is what giving Stinger this massive advantage.
Interesting result. I expect that G70 would be slightly faster than Stinger even though I have the Stinger 3.3T AWD
This race was so close it could've been anything. Driver, tires, even fuel unless they both filled up at the same station.
Stinger might be slightly MOD! G70 is lighter and should of took it.
I’m thinking the same thing
Lighter wheels, lowering springs and exhaust do play a key in this race. For reference, the stock Stinger wheels are 19x8/8.5 and weigh 34-35lbs and I put on 20x10s and they are 24lbs each. 40lbs of unsprung weight loss is a good amount of weight loss.
Exactly

The Genesis is 136 lbs lighter in curb weight.
The aftermarket aero makes a bigger difference than those 100lbs

Intake does nothing but make noise without a tune. If anything it can hurt performance with heat soak from sitting there waiting to race.

Hi I’m Anas from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 I just bought a stinger GT 2023
Lightly modded Stinger vs Stock G70 isnt a really fair comparison. The Stinger has lighter wheels, lowering springs and an exhaust. Even untuned the exhaust does make a tiny difference.
This guy doesnt care about fair races, or perhaps he really thinks his viewers are all stupid
Yep light weight wheel/tire combo (say, about 5lbs on each corner) makes a heck of a difference; something like 2 tenths in the quarter mile, which is roughly two car lengths.
I think changing drivers between runs would be a better comparison...great video though.
You're probably tired of hearing this, but we may take the driver out of the equation if you guys switch cars every second run. StraightPipes did this with Corvette versus Porsche and Jacob won every race in both cars. I'm not convinced the Stinger is that much faster consistently.
I think the stinger is modified. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t come stock with that rear diffuser and it looks lowered. God knows what else was done
@@robertnavarre6401 The stinger has no performance mods. That stinger was used in other races as well where they explained it was stock. It was the Audi S5 Race. The Stinger is just quicker.
Adding dyno runs to these tests would be cool
G70 should be slightly faster since it's a bit lighter and the engine and transmission are the same. The results of the race I will chalk up to random variance in all production cars. I still believe the g70 is the sightly faster (although close enough that it doesn't really matter).

I called this one. I knew the ECU tuning was more aggressive in the Kia which has to explain why it can launch harder against the lighter G70. Hyundai needs to step up their game.
I agree launch is fun but I would not put that as high criteria in a car purchase unless I was racing it on circuit.
Engine tuning is the same, it’s not more aggressive in the Stinger. Maybe it’s the exhaust work that’s causing the difference since these 3.3 v6 engines are pretty sensitive to just a muffler delete or a cbe
how about drag race this stinger with the new refreshed model to see if that 3 hp increase makes a difference.

Infiniti's r very fast
I watched that video and it didn’t obliterate it. The Q50 launched quite a bit before the Stinger did too. But I do agree I think this Stinger has mods. It doesn’t sound like my GT1 with the exhaust pooping like it did around the 5:43 mark.
