True, nowadays most sedans need only 200hp and thats plenty. Thats why most cars are base 4cylinders. There are hardly any chances to use the extra power at higher speeds
Sam, can you do a track battle? It would be interesting to see if the Caddy or the G70 could beat the lap time of the 340i. If you do, hopefully, they all have the same tires.
@Layne I just watched both, and the only difference I see is the BMW's power on the straits! In the corners, the 340i wasn't that good. Understeer/ tire squeal. I believe if they had the same power, the Caddy would beat it.
@Layne the type s did it in 3:06, and the Caddy did in 3:04, so I'm not sure what video you watched. Also, under braking and turn in the Caddy was far more composed. I'm not hating on the 340i because I'm getting an 2018 m240i shortly so it's not like I'm a Homer.

I think Cadillac is honest about the 360 hp though and I have always thought the 3.3T rated at 365 HP was a bit underrated, not BMW levels underrating lol, but not fully honest.
Didn't use the CT5 V launch control and there was no loud popping from the turbos during shifts, so I'm thinking he wasn't using Track Mode.... He also got treed everytime...

Kia/Hyundai undertuned the platform so much. It's comfortable at 410-435 whp on pump gas with not increase in wear. Forged internals, and stock garret turbos can easily hold 475whp.
Agree
They detune because of the 10 year warranty. Regardless, the b58 can push 600whp with boltons.
Fueling is a issue with the genesí
Dang, that M340 is once again, proving to be such a rockstar. Good racing all around boys
boring car, boring interior.

The B58 M340I is a absolute monster. This is the race that I’ve been looking for before I decided to buy one. Now I’m sold.🙌🏾🔥
Bmw is the way to go bro! I own a x3M40i and that 382hp isn’t so! That’s got to be to the wheels!
CT5 V = best balance of power and luxury
True.
Lol

BMW lies about hp.
To answer you're comment you
Posted. That's how they won.
They are quoting whp as crank
I swear BMW and Porsche lie about their numbers lol
Always
I had an M340ix, traded that baby for the X3M Comp. With that said, the B58 is a monster of an engine. Launched my car so many times and it was so fun! One of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I miss it! The Dravit gray was my favorite color.
I just bought a 2020 genesis G70. It's value to performance and luxury ratio is unmatched
Lol, my G70 is a sleeper. Looks stock, but it aint. Lap 3 1.5 tune, Secondary cat delete, And intakes makes it 465 to the wheels. If I run E85 and add another 10 to 15 horsepower to the wheels, And only weighs about 3500 pounds With rear wheel drive. Real fun to drive. This was a great race nonetheless. I figured the BMW would win this race hands down. BMW always underestimates their horsepower numbers they're always higher than what they say. The stock G70 in this race held its own, nice job.
You'd still get walked
The 3.3s can’t run full E85 with the stock hpfp. Most I’ve seen so far was E70.
Better buy a stinger. Cheaper and same engine
@@shabanajannik2600 ehh idk, ive seen lap3 g70s head to head with mhd downpipe 340s and even pull on them top end…
@hellzhonour....i only run 4 gallons of E85 at a time, Lap 3 guy told me no more.
Transmission on the V sucks BMW lies on there HP Genesis are naturally great cars won't lie love the V its the better looking car
The real race was between the G70 and Cadillac. I have a G70 and know that the M340i was gonna win. A G70 with a tune beats the BMW.
if a g70 with a tune beats a stock m340 that means it sucks
He gets me everytime no matter what
@@ralph02136 it's true. It would beat a BMW if it was tuned.
BMW absolutely creams the competition most of the time. Period. End of Story. 😳 Geez!
Both the B58 in the BMW and 3.3 in the Genesis are underrated from the factory, so this makes sense.
I had a 2021 bmw m340i with only a racechip on it, no exhaust, no wheels, purely stock with the chip and did 11.95sec on the ¼mile, God I loved that thing
I just got a 2021 lol
Damn the M340i never fails to impress at how hard it punches above it's weight.
Not really punching advice its weight. It's a $57K performance BMW. Fits right in its class. 👍
Just bought a g70 sport. Love the car. Every aspect is perfect. Although if I had the money, bmw is more preformance oriented, but the genesis is more classy
It’s a classy Hyundai
@@eltingville81 That you can't afford. That's why you're here hating hard bro.
I don't even know why BMW bothers posting hp figures lol. The 340i probably has more whp than the Gen and Caddy have at the crank
EDIT great race vid btw
Nah they have like 350-360whp (382hp) g70 has 330ishwhp (365hp)………idk about caddy.
the b58 in the supra makes around 380 whp
the b58 in the new 2022 m240i can push 405-410 hp at the wheel and 550 Nm stock torque figures which translates to around 440hp at the crank. It was dyno tested.
Always wanted that 340 but just don't want a thousand dollars a month payment.
Worth every penny for peak ICE
Yup. BMW is definitely not winning the "bang for your buck" award.
My short list was 2023 G70 and 2023 M340i. I knew the M was quick but couldn't justify the spend. Went with the G70. Coming in second to a beast is respectable!
Found a low-mileage 2022 CPO (Pre-LCI) and saved a bundle over new…definitely the way to go.
2016-2018 340i are the same car basically you don’t need an M340i when you can replace the TU Pump for $1000 tops
U should really add those 0-60 and 1/4 mile times jus for reference
I asked this before and he said he is unable to find something reliable to do it I believe
@Blue Moon shit I use a dragy and mines pretty accurate and they have other ones much more accurate
Hell, yeah, dude, thanks for giving the fum a shot out. I've been using it for the past couple months and never looked back. This thing has saved me from smoking And vaping .
Sam, coming up with a banger again. It's a match up that no one ever produced on UA-cam! As much as I love the BMW M340i in terms of performance, but that Genesis is a certified beauty! The Cadillac never disappoints as well. Overall I think they're all a great car it's just a matter of preferences. Greetings from Qatar!
My wife and I have purchased almost every BMW made since 1998 - spectacular machines!
it will be a tough race for the American car
Cadillac didn't build the V to
Compete with these cars.
They have the blackwing
For racing and track times
I got the 2023 g70 thing is so fun in sports plus mode love it. Such a fun car. I think this years grill looks amazing. Interior is amazing. And we’re im from I feel like I’m the only one driving it!!
that was a close one. suprised at the 340 but id take the g70 cuz its unique and beautiful
The undisputed king of this segment does it yet again
We really need a race between the CT5-V and the TLX Type S, they’re so closely matched on paper
Nothing beats the Ultimate Driving Machine!!
Haha, I'll be damned, I asked for this race, and a few days later you delivered! You're the best!
Something in the lowergear transmision hold the cts back you can hear the sound cleary when shifting
Love my g70 there sleepers but B58s are beast can’t wait get behind wheel on one of those 😋
Bought my 23 M340I and i gotta say. Its too fast for my own good. You dont need that much power in the highway
True, nowadays most sedans need only 200hp and thats plenty. Thats why most cars are base 4cylinders. There are hardly any chances to use the extra power at higher speeds
Now this is the content I’m subscribed for!!!🔥🔥🔥
Genesis transmission is better than GM transmission
Looks like you guys might have just spent the day earlier down the street at TMP?
I would like to see the m340i vs the ct4 V blackwing
I would liked to see that too, also the 🏁ct5 v blackwing then we will see the best sedan 🏁
Yes!!
That BMW has more power than it claims
Sam, can you do a track battle? It would be interesting to see if the Caddy or the G70 could beat the lap time of the 340i. If you do, hopefully, they all have the same tires.
I think it would be even more humbling experience for other 2 cars as bmw usually dynamically excels in that class of cars!
@@frednugent8068 what was the G70 time? Speaking of, I saw a video of a UA-camr (can’t remember who it was) but he raced both G70 RWD 3.3t and G70 AWD 3.3t and the RWD version was 6 seconds faster on the track!
@MarvelvsDC I saw a 2019 rwd lightning lap and it was a 3:07.
Never joke with the Bavarians!
Another great episode Sam.
M340i is on a completely different level here! M340i FTW!!
B58 is in a different kinda league 👑
Its only because BMW updates their engines more frequently than their competitors, whenever another company comes out with a new vehicle like AMG with its hybrid C63s and C43 they get walked… yes the w205 is slow to the G82 it came out in 2015 but when mercs release their new cars its over
I just bought my CT5v and love it. It’s got plenty of power to get me in trouble😂 I’m not planning on doing any street racing so I stayed true to buy American and GM!
The Bimmer's HP is underrated for sure. No comparison
I knew the BMW would walk both of those cars. You can hate if you want but european cars are still the cream of the crop regardless of their reliability short comings
Haven't watched yet, but I bet the BMW M340i wins (because B58...)
EDIT: OF COURSE the M340i won, because B58! I was surprised that the Genesis G70 was a good bit faster than the Caddy. I did not expect that.
These are all great luxury cars with amazing power but if you're looking for the best performance for the price; mustang, scat pack, Camaro are unbeatable.
That BMW makes more than 382 hp. BMW always tends to underrate the power
I swear they give numbers to the wheel labeled as crank.

@Juan tf you mean its not touching anything the A45 already gaps the m340i with its 4 cylinders and NONE OF THEM have blown up💀 you sound like a hater you mad you’re gonna be studying AMG tail lights in your horrible sounding popcorn machine.
BMW says it has 382hp, but in reality it makes close to that at the wheels. 430hp at the crank is more accurate. It outclasses these 2 cars.
Glad I got a G70 over the m340 honestly the quality of the g70 and price can't beat it imo. And I get all heated and cooled seats. And the 3.3 is easily tunable and are know for a Kia at least to be able to be easy 500hp monsters.
What else is out there besides a piggy back tune and the normal intake/exhaust?
Lol
Shows it’s not all about power and torque but proper gearing and proper tuning makes a difference
That BMW walked all over them and I was looking to buy the Genesis but this race is changing my mind LOL
BMW M340 is a beast. It's a race for 2nd when it shows up.
Love the M340i! I personally have a 21 hybrid M340i and it's one of the best cars i've ever owned! I recently test drive a M550i Xdrive and fell inlove with it!
That M340i HP's is misleading. I think it has 400hp at least
Win or lose, I love those new caddies!
Nice but expensive! Most BW's are going over MSRP.
Yo do a video of a trd camry against the new lexus is 350f sport both got the same 0-60 mph time.
Just based on the fact that any BMW has far more after market support makes my buying decision sooooo' much easier.
Yea you can easily spend like 100k on it and still not be finished with it lml it’s already as much as a base m5 in the states
and the bimmer is the most fuel efficient.
While I expected the CT5V to lose at least the other driver made it a little competitive driving the Cadillac agains the Genesis. Sam you have to polish up your skills. You don’t get the most out the cars you drive.
For real, he also had a late jump on the drag #1
Caddy is also about 200lbs heavier since it's AWD
Where is the Audi S4 faster than Genesis or Cadillac?
Well, I be damn. I thought the G70 would be in last place with their semi-sporty 8 speed auto. Ditto to the 4 Series. What surprised me is the CT5. That car have 30lb ft of torque with a 10 speed auto, and still got smoked by the G70.
I think Cadillac is honest about the 360 hp though and I have always thought the 3.3T rated at 365 HP was a bit underrated, not BMW levels underrating lol, but not fully honest.
The g70 torque is around 380 to the wheels and correct 320ish hp
Damn I love this channel. Great content as always.
Just for value alone from the cars I’d have to go with the G70, interior is amazing as well
What kind of wheels are on the M340i? They look good with the sapphire black.
Sam drives M340, Cadillac would win
They turned out exactly as expected! The M340i owns this segment. The stock CT5V probably just edges out the TLX Type S as the slowest in the segment.
b58 and zf8 in addition to 48v is just a magic
The Cadi Transmission seems to have a lag going on with higher rpms...knew the 340i would win...
Didn't use the CT5 V launch control and there was no loud popping from the turbos during shifts, so I'm thinking he wasn't using Track Mode.... He also got treed everytime...
Great video, I figured that b58 was going to dominate. I thought it would’ve been neck to neck with the ct5 v and g70, it was pretty close but I just knew the 10speed would get it. Lol now I would love to see the Audi S7 vs bmw 840i gran coupe vs the Mercedes gt53 vs the Panamera 4s .
Huh? That 10 speed lost 4 of 5 and came in second 1 time I don't think it got much of anything
What are you waiting for, Christmas? Start the drag race.
Bro that intro with the car specs went on for a way too long. But I love your videos
HA! except in previous videos the blessed YT commentors carry on about the specs provided aren't shown for long enough. This app continues to deliver 😂 Not meaning to be a jerk Derek but its kinda funny in comparison to other videos.
@@jimwallace4164 you can’t please anyone on the internet it seems. 😂 too long, too short… the old Goldilocks problem.

Yup, its also way more expensive......
The car with 430 hp wins . So shocking 😅. B58 isn’t magical, it’s underrated.

How come no one has compared the Genesis G70 3.3 AWD with the Lexus is 350 f sport?
@Bret Menoche the IS350 will get badly beaten by G70, 368 hp and 376 tq at 1300-4500 rpms! Unfortunately Lexus needs to put up better numbers than 311 hp and 280 tq with its NA v6. It’s good handling but piss poor acceleration for the money.
BMW is cheating EVERYTIMES a half to full second sooner start. Only 6:00 race was closely matched at least.
