Fantastic! Thanks guys for showing me the alternate lines - I've ridden it a few times but knowing where the BETTER lines are is going to be very confidence inspiring :)
Thank you Mr Atlas for the hard work you put into this vid. Vertigo is way beyond my ability and I won't be riding it anytime soon, but I learnt a lot about analysing lines. Your calm and humble delivery is awesome. Can't wait for the next one
thanks for the confidence to do attack that A line before the stream that you recommend doing over the B line! And yes I'm another one whos keen on you doing a breakdown of trickles
The tight right hand b line took me multiple run ups to commit to, it's very awkward and the hardest part of the track to me. Will have to do the a line instead! Everything else is pretty easy once you've ridden it before.
What a brilliant vid! Super helpful and so much better than simply watching vids of people blasting down trails. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Do you have one for Trickle Falls?
Nice, glad to see I take similar lines to you. Definitely agree on the a line chute, it looks intimidating but it’s much better than that tight right. Keen to see trickle then yeah gnar 👌🏻
Have you given the off-camber high line a go on the corner in the middle of the trail? That's a really fun one! I'll definitely get onto Trickle and yeah Gnar next!
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks so much for taking the time out to make this video and add the extensive commentary. Really, really helpful for new line choices or to confirm ones I've taken aren't utter cr*p. Good to hear that others really struggle with the spiral/bridge - I nearly decapitated myself there once. Ridgeline would be another trail to do or Grom at Mt Vic. Also the Super D line going over Mt Alfred has a couple of b*****d switchbacks at the start and end that I always seem to choose silly lines for. Keep up the great work though this kind of video is spot on.
This is awesome - I’m a rider who’s confident on Advanced trails, but the local blacks seem a significant step up. Would love a breakdown of Trickle Falls! I’ve been down once; bike bounced off my head near the bottom…
I'd recommend giving Crash Palace in Colonial Knob or Ridgeline in Makara a go to get comfortable on black trails, Trickle is a decent step up from a few of the other blacks around. Its well worth doing a track walk first and planning the lines before hand so you know what to expect.
XLN'T stuff as always. I find the bridge fine as a mediocre rider.. but good front brakes are a must (I walked it on my hardtail with Y-Brake fronts).. and the entry into the creek can be very abrupt so decent forks are also a plus (my bike has 7" Totems so the bike is far better than my ability... (so any failure will be my fault) Are the old track lines (1:24 left, 1:36 left & 3:58 right) now unavailable, overgrown or still rideable? The only section I haven't ridden is the S-Bend (with the tight exit and million ft drop into the abyss... well it looked like it from the top).. The steps are a little big and close to that tight exit... Maybe next time. I LOVE Vertigo. I suggest taking a wingman, as it's a road less traveled.. If you can ride a dark blue track, you can ride most if not ALL of this "Single Black"... It's really a dark blue with a couple of black features... Take the ride, walk the bits you don't feel comfortable riding, enjoy.. (Especially if it's your 1st foray into the realms of 'Single Black'. (it was my 1st, Deliverance my 2nd).
@@WilliamCronin Have you seen the video of the guy riding Deliverance in the wet... or should I say Deliverance river.. Live Wires lives up to it's name in the wet too (and is the only one I've done in less than optimum condition... (oo except for Peak Flow where I took every line I could to stay out of the Peanut Butter & puddles... (mmmm did ridgeline in damp.. but it was so mediocre that didn't count)
@@TrailAtlas I used to ride creeks on the motor cross bike at speed, you sat a little back and let the front bounce off the rocks and as long as you hung on loosely, the bike just sorted itself... I tried a crossing in Lake Moawhango (Eaast side just before the Nth hills)... You take the lower and ride upstream... I took the upper. about 2ft deep... Bike washed out from under me. Picked it up and it floated down stream with me... maybe a little strong there.... maybe why they were crossing lower... 🤣 🚴♂️ 🤽♂️
Very Nice video. Instead of the grade 5's can we have a breakdown of some 3's and 4's for the average rider like myself as im sure it will give the average rider more confidence.. Bull run and Border Line in Belmont. B-Line and B-line extension in Wainui. Live Wires in Makara. TeMuke in Colonial Knob. Thanks again for your time and effort putting this one together....
That's a good idea. I'd recommend binge watching some videos on line choice and maybe finding a section of trail with a number of different line options and trying each one. Once you get a feel for what makes a good line it really changes the way you look at a trail.
So great! Would love to see a trickle falls break down!
Thanks! It looks like Trickles is the most requested video so I'll try get that done within the next few weeks.
shot bro, think ill make this my next step up goal. chur!
Would love to see Full crash palace and/or Mystic portal!! :-)
Mystic portal would be a fun one to film! I'll try and get that done.
@@TrailAtlas Thanks so much
Sooo good! Love this trail.
This breakdown format is brilliant, I've ridden vertigo a few times but struggle with a few of the lines so good to have a breakdown! Keep it up!
Nice dude! Request for trickle falls? :)
Another banger vid!! 👏
Thanks!

No problem Simon! I definitely found a few new lines when filming this video. Let me know how you get on trying the new lines.

top work chaps - cheers!

You won't regret trying it. I think it's a bit of a mental block for a lot of people but it really isn't anything to worry about!

Nice clip man!
Great stuff! Deliverance and Mr X
Deliverance could be a challenge, it's different every time I ride it.
@@TrailAtlas You have to wait for a couple of dry days for a line to form on deliverance
A+ for this video, do the Mt Vic blacks next!
Damians could be a good one to film. So many line choices!
What a brilliant vid! Super helpful and so much better than simply watching vids of people blasting down trails. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Do you have one for Trickle Falls?
Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful.
I do, have a look in my trail breakdown playlist.

Thanks Wayne! Really appreciate the feedback. Ridgeline is near the top of the list, so you can expect that in the coming months.
Good work! Trickle Falls and then Yeah Gnar would be a cool breakdown clips to see.
Great video man! That bridge got me every time , never been able to make it through 😅
Cheers! Hopefully this video helps you finally get that line, it's a tricky one!
@@TrailAtlas that will be a great help for sure 👌

Nice edit! I'm pleased I'm not the only 6'4" guy on an Enduro bike that dosent fit under the bridge!🤣😅

Which route would you recommend for a beginner ? Appreciate any feedback 🙏🏻

Really depending on your life if you choose the B-line
