These videos are a game changer - so awesome to see local features broken down instead of British Columbia stuff which looks rad but teaches me nothing about what I’m actually gonna ride. Aside from the specific track analysis, the approach to local lines, local dirt and local rock feels really transferable. I’m a way off the challenges, but calling them out is a great insight - like in the context of hard this is HARD.
Cheers Michael, I appreciate that. Welly has some super unique trails so I imagine it's a completely different skillset to riding here than most places. I lived in Nelson for a year before moving to Welly, I was so put off by how narrow and rocky the trails are here. It took me ages to get used to riding narrow stuff.
Yeah gnar and mystic portal! I actually find it easier to skid around the corner at 8:15. That makes it easier to get around it, just dont skid to much or your back wheel will go over the edge!
This kinda vid is super helpful! Gives more of a realistic view of the features which gets lost on the normal vids. Shows just how steep something really is. Nice work
Ooosshhh this looks so sick!! Last time I went there I went down this trail and got to a really rocky bit and walked out, sooo hitting all of the trail next time 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
I swap leading foot all the time but I'm semi ambidextrous so that may b why I'm comfortable with it. In an 'S' bend I pedal a 180 backwards each turn...spose if I was in a higher gear and went forward I could get a pedal stroke in.. I have a good clutch in my Saint derailleur so have no chain issues backpedaling). Trickle & Yeah Gnah (and possum bait line) are the only tracks I haven't done on Makara. I may not do Yeah Gnar but Trickle is on my next 2 do list. As always. Excellent stuff... So much better with a stop and look approach rather than a Fighter Jet flyby.
That's interesting, how do you find bunnyhopping with different feet forward? For me it feels like it's my first time on a bike again haha. Glad you liked the video, I hope it helps you tackle Trickle!
@@TrailAtlas I haven't notices foot position on many other features so would think i would run with Right Foot forward... I just checked my next project and all my drops are right forward... Just my cornering I guess... I think i have been caught on Starfish left forward on drops and rolled with it so to speak.
Awesome vid man. Trickles has been on top of my hit list for a while. That's definitely given me the push I need to go hit it now. Maybe wait for some drier weather though 😳
Nice video, few lines not really noticed. Personally I found those tight corners just after sketchy rocky bit the hardest feature for ages. Never thought much of those rock rolls
Nice break down.. Feature 6 is what always freaks me out, I normally drop on the right so I might try hanging left For feature 9 I do the lowline, then hang right, otherwise I end up meeting my demise at the boulder Feature 11 has always been difficult, more mentally than anything, but once you get it you get it. I find hanging left best, sometimes you can catch your wheel right and end up having to bail off if the wheel gets stuck -_-
Thanks James, The roll on the left on feature 6 looks pretty janky in person but actually rides quite well with a bit of speed. That's my preferred line on Feature 9 too, it's a tricky section! If you're having trouble with the feature 11 corner, try going a bit slower into it maybe? I think the faster you go the harder it is to get around the second part of the corner.
Absolutely gold value video!
Thanks Tommo!

They're top of the list for filming. You're brave skidding around that corner haha
@@TrailAtlas What do you use for editing your videos with?
@@rubenarmstrongmtb I use Premier Pro. It's been a bit of a learning curve.
Nicely done, What happened at 07:30 you had it....
I love these videos. They actually make me want to get out and ride. The breakdown is just a great format.
Thanks man! glad you're enjoying them.
These breakdowns are great, you should do one of deliverance.
Great breakdown, love to see more of these!
Thanks Dave, I'm definitely planning on making more!
@@TrailAtlas Awesome! Now I just need to grow some and give it a go! 😄

Thanks, Victoria! Appreciate the feedback.
Awesome!
Very helpful videos
Your content just keeps on getting better and better! Thanks for this, just going to wait for it to dry out again to give it a go.
Thanks Mick! I'm glad you're enjoying the new style of videos.
I broke my collarbone on feature 12 a few years back and have never cleaned trickles since 😢 great video tho

Good luck in your next run down Trickle. Let me know how it goes!
Great Video! On my list to ride before winter. thanks so much for the guide.
Awesome breakdown. I'm still working my way up to attempting Trickle Falls, this helps a lot!
Cheers Cam, if you're feeling comfortable on Ridgeline and Vertigo give it a go!

Thanks Mark! Doing it in the dry is a good call, it's a much harder track when it's wet because all the rocks get super greasy.
Excellent work on putting that together and super useful. Thanks for the advice about the other trails to get comfortable with first.

Cheers Ben, we definitely found a few new lines when filming this video. Keen to organise a Yeah Gnar vid soon if you're keen?
These videos are so helpful! I'm a wee way off attempting trickles yet, but when the time comes this will help! Cheers 🙂
