Great video. Still awaiting our first angora. No news yet from the breeder. However, what they said is in sync with you. Good to hear consistent messaging about a breed. What a sweetheart.
Juniper Berry is lovely 😊 Thank you for explaining about the French Angora. I have 2 queries... Do you only comb them that is not shear them at all, and does the guard hair have any prickle factor in the spun yarn? Lyn
Thank you! I comb most of the year, but do shear down everyone in the hot months her in Michigan. Typically May-Aug. It depends on who you talk to. I don't think the guard hairs are scratchy at all, but some do. It gives the yarn a beautiful halo though.
Have you done any videos on your housing style? (Cage vs Colony)? I've seen examples of both (also colonies with male in and male separated). Nervous about colony set up and keeping everything clean and peaceful. Interested in French as dual purpose for suburban homestead. How long would I need to keep kits till good grow out size? This would impact how we house them.
Yes, I have several videos on my colony set up on the channel if you look back through the videos. I am only a fiber person at this time, so I'm not sure. I know meat rabbits are around 12 weeks. I would want them to be older to get good fiber from them. I believe weight wise they would be about the same as meat rabbits depending on the Angora breed.
I've got some experience with colour genetics, however regarding snakes and not rabbits, but I figure it will be mostly the same kind of mechanisms. What sites do you get the info from? Maybe I could take a look and see if I'm able to translate it to simpler terms, if you wish :)

Thank you, I had no idea snake color genetics was a thing. I've used all kinds of sites.
