She's a real darling. I met a satin last year at a fibre festival and talk about soft. The breeder told us they are one of the easier angoras to raise.
Thank you! She is super soft.
She is beautiful! I love her color.
Thank you! Me too, it's so rich.
The sheen has been lost to density from crossing . The early ones were so much shinier. Yes less colors because it doesn't haveas much dilute colors . Not much grooming needed. It should not matt because it has guard hair that is very fine . The type bred in is the cause of the matting . The old Satins were not only the finest but goes the furthest because it is so fine . Satins are my absolute favorites. She is lovely
Thank you for all the information! I find her color striking and didn't realize that Satins had such beautiful colors.
She is beautiful! 🥰💕 much love & luck with her 😊
Thank you!
She is sweet! We also have a black satin doe. Love your videos!😊
She really is! Thank you so much for watching!
I love her color. I have a Satin/French from a Michigan breeder. I don't know enough about breeding angoras to know what exactly that means. lol I do know he's the sweetest rabbit I've ever had.
I'm so excited about her color! I have thought about possibly breeding her with a French. Essentially by breeding with another type of Angora, you may come up with a bunny that has the best features of each breed. That's a whole other rabbit hole to go down :) I have a video coming tomorrow that actually talks about cross breeding different varieties.
I have a breeding pair of satins, they have 7 kits. I didn't know about the black. Now I need one, or three
Rabbit math is like chicken math right? LOL What colors did you get? I may be getting a male now...
Adorable! ❤❤❤
Thank you! She is very sweet.
❤
Thanks for watching!
What staple length are you expecting? Is it simular to the other angora? Does the satin need to be clipped like the German or can they be combed? She is absolutely beautiful!!!!
Thank you! 2.5" - 5" length. It looks like both ways. I'll be doing more research and another video as I get some fiber from her.
Thinking of names... What do you think of Odile? The black swan from Swan Lake.
I let Hubby pick...Raven it is :)
How well does the fiber spin, knit and its quality compared to the other breeds?
Gorgeous . At least when it is pure Satin . A lot of other types have been added so it has lost the sheen and body type. It is the finest of all the angora types and because it is so fine it goes further than the other types. I have seen it at 8 microns . They have the largest litters and make great (spinner) pets as they are so loving .
@@diannefitzmaurice9813 I would love to get some satin angora rabbits. I was wondering if you could breed satin with angora and then I find someone had. Lol.
This is my first one and have never spun Satin. As soon as I get enough to spin, I'll do a video.
Thank you for the information. I'm really thinking I might need to be looking for a male now! :)
Hi Renee
Are the Satin rabbits combed or shorn? Do they have facial furnishings? How long dies their fibre grow?
Thanks
Lyn
I will probably comb them and shear in summer like the rest of my bunnies. There seems to be mixed opinions on this (like a lot of Angora information) It gets to be 2.5"-5" depending on the bunny.
How long will her fur,/ fiber be when she is an adult? I am surprised to hear that a Satins fur is best for felting.
It ranges between 2.5" and 5" depending on the rabbit. I was too and need to look more into that. I would think because of the "sheen" it wouldn't. I'll keep you posted.
