Dyno of eBay Twin Turbo 502 "kit" 1000+ hp

- I took a ZZ502 block and added cheap eBay turbos (not a kit, but individual parts) so I could pick and choose what I wanted. I bought the bypass valve, wastegates, headers, and all of that as well, and total investment (outside the motor) is about $1000.
You do get what you pay for - one bad turbo I had to replace and one bad bypass valve and a leaky header, so none of this stuff is ready to drive cross-country. With enough welding, fabricating, and tuning, though, it does work.
The turbos are GT45 T4/TG66 1.05 A/R 92 trim. Intake manifold is a custom Hogan sheet metal piece. Heads are Trick Flow 340 and the cam is stock ZZ502.
We ran out of fuel pump pressure at 1000hp/1200lb-ft. That was at 14psi with lots of room left for timing and more boost!
The intercooler was likely the best performing piece. I don't know what the pressure drop was across it but the intake air temp never exceeded 100F.
Hey, thanks for posting this.
My Buds and I are working on a Gen 6 454 (the one that has a roller cam) and are going to try to build it with as many eBay and Amazon parts as possible. From China made Turbos, to Rods, to Heads, God Help us. If we can break 800 horses without scattering it we will have won.
Cheers, and have fun
Thanks very much for sharing man. Its hard to find good accurate information on these stock motor builds(well stock bottom end)
Thanks a lot for the video with zero info other than the title
Want your money bacK?
I like the video. Bubba needs to do his own research.
By chance did you have to gap the rings for boost - Currently have a ZZ502 Crate in my 70 Velle and putting to paper the set up - Great start and thanks for sharing - Any link on the full build?
Very cool and proof that you don't necessarily need all the "hero name" parts to make good power. We're planning a similar twin-GT45 setup for a client's C10 truck, starting with a simple ~450HP 468cid Big Block, so just wondering a few things: How much boost you ran to get to different HP levels -- what fuel used -- your cam spec's (if different from the GMPP ZZ502 grind). Thank you in advance, congrats on your results!
extremely cool, im gonna be rocking out one of those turbos a 351w and im hoping it bogies along quite well
Nice!
very cool
What caused the sparks to fly near the end?
Dave if this is your idea of a dyno pull , I understand why you only have 40 subs !
And if this your idea of a comment, I understand why you have no friends.

Well Dave if this is your idea of a video YOUR VIDEO SUCKS, it's click bait , where did you steal it , or did the engine blow the first test it made a pull
Exactly! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I want to turbo my c10 im building it has a 8.1. Its on my page if u want to check it out. Also if u still have it together can u get a me measurement from the head to the out side of turbo want to see if i have to move my radiator
What intake manifold
Where's the numbers. I like to see
Stock block won't take much more . Broke a few .
A year late and how is this running?
You did some thing wrong it should of make 1600 to 2100 hp what up turkey
Scott H no depending on internals and boost level.
That was with one plug wire off and I missed the shift to second though!
Where did you have that intake made? Exactly what I am looking for! Would it be for sale by chance?
I had that made by Hogan Intakes. They do beautiful work but its not cheap (I think it was 3000-3500). I had to have it made to fit EFI on a big block under the "flat" hood of a stock Camaro, but there might very well be off-the-shelf options the clear a cowl hood, for example. But I couldn't find anything to fit the flat hood, so had this made.
Of course it wasn't needed for the dyno, I could have run a simple RPM Dominator, but it was already on the engine from when it came out of the car!
What wastegate and blow off valve did you use?
The cheapest wastegate and second-cheapest blowoff valves on eBay that day... no brand label on them, sorry!
And they work just fine?
If I might ask, roughly what rpm does the boost really come on? From what I see, those turbos are a 68mm compressor wheel. Just wondering if a smaller turbo is used, could I achieve more torque down low?
It's pretty much in full boost and making full torque immediately, right from the initial hit of the throttle. This dyno has a brake so it can provide some load, which is nice. I don't doubt smaller turbos would be a better idea. These are huge.
Hopefully everything works out with that build! Thanks!
Click bait no info..he scattered it all over the dyno @ 5000 I talked to the dyno operator and he broke pistons when timing went to 42 degrees, hes too embarrassed to post the info!
That's quite a fantasy. And the dyno operator is dead, and has been for 2 years, so invite me to the next seance when you chat with him again.
@@DavesGarage Yes he is dead , hit on the head with one of the rods that came flying out of the block he bled out right on the dyno room floor from your EBT lego budget poor attempt @ a turbo build, stick to your day job lady let the Big Boys handle it!
Is the motor still running?
@@knoxbros NOPE didn't make it out of the dyno room
What Ecu are you using?
I am using an old BigStuff3 SEFI unit. They used to be (might still be) popular with racers, particularly in the turbo crowd as it has built-in waste gate cycling for boost management, staging spool up, and so on. But I didn't actually use any of the turbo-specific features for my testing!
Stock bottom end?
Yes, stock ZZ502 bottom end that's never seen daylight.
ZZ502 comes stock with forged internals.
