Since people keep asking the same questions and statements over and over, without reading previous comments, here are the answers so you don't have to ask: 1 - Why were scenes cut out?: The answer is because the English dub for this show as done by 4Kids Entertainment, who were known to cut, edit and censor the anime they dub. Other examples of shows they've done are the first dub to One Piece (before Funimation took it) and Yu-Gi-Oh. So all of the changes I pointed out are ones done by them. I didn't change a thing. 2 - "Mew Lettuce/Bridget had a full transformation in the English dub.": WRONG! Her solo sequence was only shown in episodes 5 (6 in English) and 16 in the original Japanese version. 4Kids replaced the first one with a group sequence and then cut it out in episode 16 all together (And NO, that bright flash and her suddenly in her Mew Mew outfit in her debut episode doesn't count.). You can see all of the English dubbed episodes on my 2nd channel, Mew Mew International Dubs, to see for yourself. 3 - "I've seen the full transformations in my language.": Any dub that came solely from the 4Kids' version (Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Turkish, Danish and Dutch) had the exact same cuts and edits. So you most likely remembered wrong. Again, some of these dubs are on my Mew Mew International Dubs channel so you can see them there.
That's because the French dub finished the series by dubbing the 2nd half of the series from the Japanese version. So you guys lucked out. Although, even then, they weren't able to show Mew Lettuce's transformation in full, since the original Japanese version didn't show the full thing in the 2nd half of the series.

For the 2nd half, yeah. I'm not too sure about the first half or if there were any plot-holes created from dubbing from 2 separate versions. Although, I did notice that the French dub kept the setting in Tokyo, despite dubbing from 4Kids (4Kids changed it to some unnamed American city.). I've been hoping to have all of the French episodes subtitled to know for sure but I haven't been able to find anyone willing to translate.

The dub will always have a place in my heart. I got into the show when I was 12 because it was airing on Girl Pop, and I watched an episode and was like hell ye hell YE, so i watched all of the dub episodes on youtube on my dad's computer in under two days, and once I was done I was like "But what about the rest of the episode? Should I watch them in Japanese?". My sister got tired of my whining and told me to just watch them, so I started from the beginning again and was like "...shit. This is so much better. I have been enlightened." I became super obsessed with the Japanese version and it was actually what spurred me to get better at my art, because I'd drawn a terrible picture of Kishu, and my dad looked at it and told me that I was really getting better at drawing. It really spurred me on to do better and I don't know why I remember a moment like that from 7 year ago so clearly but it still sticks with me all the same. (Also according to my friend when we shared a hotel room, I was singing the theme song in my sleep; she didn't know what it was, but I was going "Doki doki..." so I suppose it's legit). But DESPITE ALL THE JAPANESE LOVE, I still belt out Animal Instinct and the Mew Mew Style catch phrase, and keep english transformation music on my phone, because HELL, even though the Japanese version is much better, 4Kids did do some things extremely right, and they did successfully suck me in. Sorry for overly long comment. I'm just so passionate about this god damn show.
+Axe Puff i got into them through pop girl aswell and its what got me into drawing and anime in general so i cant hate it also i used to make all the weapons out of paper at primary and bring them in for me and my 2 friends to mess about with no wonder people thought i was weird XD
same I watched it on pop girl when I was 3 years old even though I didn't exactly understand it and after pop girl didn't show it anymore I checked on youtube and watched the dub then the sub and loved both but the dub is better for me cause grew up watching that.
I agree ! because I watched it on pop girl it hi k as a child in the UK .... however I personally think everything is better in the Tokyo mew mew version except the music (because the music in mew mew power is just a lot more memorable)
Aww, same! It wad the first anime I ever watched and I love it for that reason and because of the soundtrack but Tokyo Mew Mew is way better as a show in general
In many ways Tokyo Mew Mew is better. Sure, Mew Mew Power has better music, but many scenes were cut, and they don't even have all 52 episodes. Tokyo Mew Mew's voices are better, Mew Mew Power's voices are disgusting and terrify me. The original names from TMM are better than the weird names in MMP, plus, MMP was made for little kids, TMM was made for young adults and teenagers, considering there's swearing and things like that in the original anime. So, in my opinion, TMM is better!
I personally find Tmm better because that's the original anime, how the writer it wanted to be. Not some English dub where they changed the whole story. Proofs that when you want the true anime experience you'll have to watch it in the original language or with the original subs :)
I'd say the issues I have are that 1) the 4kids dub, while the cut in and OP music was better, meant we didn't get a more faithful release (kinda like how Naruto has 2 English dubs, with and without blood) and 2) 4kids tried to go toe to toe with Sailor Moon with a show who's main thematic beats involved puberty and then done the expected to make it for younger kids resulting in a fairly meh show.
To be honest, I think of TMM and MMP as separate shows. In my mind, Zoey and Ichigo are different people- they have different names and ages. The same goes for the rest of the characters. Also, I believe MMP has some minor differences, plot wise?
MMP and TMM are the same thing but the one is dubbed but because of the censorship the dub has it feels like a whole different show. Same with with smile precure and the smile precure dub (glitter force)

No this is why you don't (or shouldn't have given) give 4kids anime to dub Shows can be dubbed just fine, it's the censoring and unnecessary changes that's the issue. It has nothing to do with it being dubbed or not.
Why are the english ones always so censored? I'm shocked... I never thought of these transformations of something lewd or bad... and I just hit puberty with hormones everywhere when I started watching this

Aside from Ichigo/Zoey and Zakuro/Renee, they focused less on their characters design theme and went more for animal theme, which really hurts Mint/Corrina, dropping the whole Ballet thing. The only reason the previously mentioned two work, is because one is a silly teen high school girl, while the other is a pop idol. But the 4kids Renee theme is just bad
As many edits as there were, I actually like the 4kids transformation music a little more. Like with Ichigo's transformation, the original was very orchestral, which was fine, but Zoey's version was more upbeat and pop-like. A shame they edited so much out of it, including an entire sequence. I like both Zakuro and Renee's transformation music, though. Very different, but still fitting for both.

MMP was the reason I stop watching all my anime in English Dubs. The first time I realized English version was cutting out so much of the actually scene and changed the music, I couldn’t believe. Watching it in the original version made so much sense. I now watch all my anime in the original Japanese version because I didn’t want any cut scenes.
I actually liked the English Mew Mew Power. I liked the voices and all that. I thought the name change was alright too, considering it was for a young, American or Western audience. Music was awesome, one thing 4Kids gets right, kinda all the time. The only thing was that looking back on it now, they completely messed up the story line, which completely ruined it. No wonder they had it cancelled. They should have just translated it, and read it like that. Maybe a few differences here and there, but they completely changed the story, I dont even think they watched the original. Like he found out she was a Mew Mew in, what, episode 12? Then he suddenly forgets it. It was so confusing and I dont even know.

Mew Mew Power / Tokyo Mew Mew is my favourite anime by far. I grew up watching the 4kids dub. Every morning I used watch it before I would go to school. I would even get my Dad to tape the episodes so go watch them again whenever I wanted. I still know all the songs off the English dub off by heart. Mew Mew Power was such an big part in my childhood. Will absolutely adore this anime for as long as I live.
I'm so surprised at how many people liked the 4Kids dub! I don't mean to offend, but I thought it was was just really bad. It was bad voice acting, a LOT of script changing that often changed the meaning of the lines, and the names... It felt so gross to watch it because it was so watered down and Americanized. I feel like if you want an anime for what it is, you avoid stuff like 4Kids. Not all dubs are bad (for instance, Funimation generally does a decent job), but you don't get what the show was really supposed to be with (some) dubs.
+Moist Von Lipwig Mew Mew Power Is the reason I watch Sub when I was a kid I didn't know that it was so different I used to watch it on TV. when I was 11 I got a prepaid USB internet stick and started to watch anime on UA-cam so when I watched Mew Mew Power all the way to episode 26 than could not find 27 in English anywhere. so I caved and watched it in Japaneses Sub I could not follow the plot the characters had changed so much and so I watched Tokyo Mew Mew from episode one and loved it. I was so disillusioned to Dub by the end that I refused to watch dub when ever I can watch Sub instead. the only two anime I willingly watched in Dub after that are Sword Art Online and Deadman Wonderland. even that it took my brother playing clips of the Dub so I could judge the Voice Acting.
+Kiralea Swan At least you can to love the originals of things. My guilty pleasure dubs are Hetalia, Black Butler and OHHC. Mostly because they have a lot of common voice actors between the three that I like and admire.
+Moist Von Lipwig I watched OHSHC before switching to Sub only. So I have seen both and it's not bad and only gives me a small headache from the audio quality. Another reason I prefer subs is that the audio is cleaner. I let my little sister watch OHSHC and she loves it but she won't watch Sub. :) Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler is awesome but the OVA are still only in Sub. I haven't watched Hetalia yet :)
+Kiralea Swan Hetalia is nice bc the Japanese voice actors weren't as good at pushing the accents as our American friends,but Funimation took some rather annoying liberties in some of the later seasons. Either way, both are good. Everything comes down to opinion
As someone who grew up with the Mew Mew Power version and later on watched the rest of the show as Tokyo Mew Mew (Due to MMP not have all the episodes) I like both and see nothing wrong with either

Some of the cuts/changes make sense given the broadcast thing, but it seems strange that they cut out the double helix and final pose parts. They seem kinda important.
@ringoisawesome As I said. She WASN'T in the ANIME. This video is about edits done to the ANIME since the game was NEVER translated. Since Ringo was NOT in the ANIME, I can't put her transformation in because it's not from the ANIME!!!!
Tokyo Mew Mew wins of course, for plot and the full transformation, but had it just had Mew Mew Power's transformation music, they would be 10× more the winners.
I'm not a fan of Tokyo Mew Mew but I kind of get irritated of people saying they only like Mew Mew Power because of the music. Like is music more important than plot and animation? Really?
Tbh the animation is totally the same. The plot is also the same, a group of girls get powers to save the earth. The only difference is the script, voice acting and music. The script is good considering its the english dub and they have to change it up to make it “kid-friendly.” The voice acting...It really could’ve been better. Sometimes they sound so emotionless and they all almost sound the same in the dub. The music is really good! Its catchy and appeals to kids today! In my opinion Tokyo Mew Mew better because of these reasons.

I find weird, she says some of the animation are different, but I have seen most of the animation she clams is only in the Japanese version and I haven't watch it yet. (I plan on watching season two which has no English dub. Which sad cause I'll miss all the catchy music.

Still gotta like the English dub music for each character because it seems to add to the character. They should still redub this in full, with their original names and uncut. I'd live to see that. And before you say, *"It's better in Japanese with subs, just read the subs."* I have epilepsy, and reading so fast without pausing, is nearly impossible. And it's very difficult to read and watch at the same time. I only do it ones I REALLY want to see the new episodes to because everyone online is spoiling. Like DURARARAX2 when it first came out. And that gave me headaches during and after words. I try to watch both, but prefer to watch dubbed first so I know what's going on in the animation.
It was mostly because that particular font didn't have lowercase letters X3. Although, I think I should've expanded on it a bit since, if the comments are to be believed, quite a few people thought I did the cuts myself XD.

Ines Youmni She does not. Not in the English dub anyways. In the original Japanese version, they only showed her full solo transformation twice: in episodes 5 and 16. The English dub replaced 5 with the Animal Instinct sequence and they cut it out in episode 16 all together. I have all of the episodes of both versions on DVD and can show you those specific scenes to prove it.
Sailor Moon Generation As I said, she didn't have a "Solo" transformation in the dub. Parts of it were used for the group sequences 4Kids put together but she never had one by herself.
Uhh... yeah they do. The clips I showed come straight from both the Japanese and English DVD releases. Those cuts and edits are for real in the English dub.
That's crazy. Mediaset, our italian broadcasting company kept this scenes all ok, when 4kids even refuses to keep any single transformation of every single anime?!

I know everyone is talking about TMM and MMP but could we just appreciate how much work this would take. If I was doing a video like this it would take me like 4 hours just editing.
Time was probably a consideration. A lot of anime that comes over here is edited for time because you have to squeeze in commercials and sometimes edits are also put in at the insistence of networks that air English language version anime. If you'll recall, the English adaptation of Yu-Gi-Oh had two two-parters in the first season that were merged at the insistence of Kids WB. The two-parters later aired on 4KidsTV on Fox.
Oh man I been hearing about this anime for years all through my childhood as long as I can remember and I finally got around to watch it (in the sub version) recently. I had no idea how much was cut in the dub. I almost forgot 4Kids was behind this so I can imagine how messed up TMM was because of them. I don't know how I never saw this anime before when I grew up watching 4Kids or I did watch a little bit of the anime but just can't remember if I did.
I just wanna say when it gets to mint when the piano starts playing and the other one is playing then all of a sudden 1:16 boom! That makes a perfect combination of the music!
There are no curse words in the Japanese version of the show. In fact, there are hardly any curse words in the Japanese language at all. Something offensive spoken is determined by the politeness level of their speech. Hardly any in this show was considered offensive. Fansubbers tend to add curse words(sometimes really bad ones) to make the show seem more adult. And there's nothing wrong with shadowing. The body is still sillouhetted(or however you spell it XD) so nothing offensive is seen.
I like MMP because of how short their transformations are. I mean, the TMM, their transformation are so long, and it's pretty boring, but the MMP, their transformation are shorter and has really good music. And the reason why 4kids did not add Bridget's transformation because half of the scene, she was naked. 4kids didn't want parents to complain about naked girls who are transforming, so that's why they add so many changes.
But they changed almost all the original story! Watch TMM or MMP is like watching two different animes, ages and personalities were changed. That sucks!
Tokyo Mew Mew is better because in Mew Mew Power when they do anime expressions it doesn’t sound right, But in Tokyo Mew Mew it sounds better. Music wise, Mew Mew Power wins.
And people wondered why Mew Mew Power was pulled from the air after just 26 episodes, it was because it was becoming another DIC Sailor Moon dub, only worse...much worse. it was crazy. I see they didn't want be responsible for another uproar from the anime community so from then on they play it safe and dubbed shows that were terrible even in Japan so they can look smart.
Yes it is. If you only watched the English version, you might not get why her music is like that. In the original Japanese version, Pudding is Chinese, which is why her music is Chinese in style.
It's probably because Lettuce has all those bubbles in front of her that they're too lazy to edit out (then again I would be too haha; it'd probably come out awful); plus along with Zakuro she has more "nudity" so-to-speak to have to cover up. And her entire sequence has the shading used for only the first few moments of the others, so yeah, they obviously just didn't want to fiddle with it at all.
I grew up with this so the dub is my favourite but I do also really like the sub. But guess what. I'm one of those scary people your sub friends tell you about. The ones who like both.
@glaceon101able The team as a whole are called Mew Mews but only one girl(Ichigo) is a cat. The other animals are Blue Lorikeet, Finless Porpoise, Golden Lion Tamarin(a type of monkey) and Grey Wolf.
They only time in the English dub when the marks are not hidden are in the episodes when each girl transforms for the first time and in transformation sequences.
I've literally never watched this show, any version of it, but I had a weird phase in middle school where I just watched a bunch of magical girl transformation videos. The only one I distinctly remember out of these is Mint.
i would love to see a reboot of this anime, it aired in the us around the same time as sailor moon and both were successful respectively. but this is still one of my favorites

I could never get into the English dub of Tokyo mew mew. I started with the Japanese version and later discovered the English dub, but it was so bad compared to the original. I'm glad that people liked the English dub! I just sadly wasn't able to get into it...
Ok I've watched every English dub of Mew Mew Power they have and for the record its totally awesome I love the music input they have and I love Zoey's catch fraze at the end that Tokyo Mew Mew does not have " Mew Mew Style Mew Mew Grace Mew Mew Power in your Face ! "
Tokyo Mew Mew has a catchphrase. It just that it was usually used before she starts fighting (And it was "For the Earth's Future, I'll be of service - Meow!"). The English dub moved the scene to end the transformation sequence, most likely because they thought it fit with the transformation song they made.
I'll check it out. But something that I've noticed that would make 4kids unable to dub any more episodes. In episode 36, the story of Ryou's past was five years before the mew project. But since 4kids made Keiichiro 17, unless they changed it somehow, it'd be like they're saying that he could drive when he was twelve. AWKWARD!
They were censored not because kids couldn't handle "boob shadow" but because these girls are under the age of consent and there for showing them naked at all would be considered child pornography and therefore illegal.
And that's the problem whenever America decide to dub any of these shows, especially magical girl anime. These anime are made in Japan, where the age of consent is 13 and these characters are 13 and above. Nothing about these shows are sexually explicit so according to federal law, they wouldn't really be considered as child pornography and they really only count it if the minor is an actual real life child, not an animated fictional character.
I really would LOVE to see a redub of tokyo mew mew. I remember learning how botched and shortened the 4kids! version was. You miss a lot plus the ACTUAL ENDING. But I digress lol.
I can't believe I'm actually posting something, but whatev. Let me just say I hate Mew Mew Power so fucking much! I can't stand it's shitty dub. The voices are annoying as hell and they're all so immature. I do have to give it credit for introducing me to Tokyo Mew Mew though, which I by the way love! So yep! 4kids, don't fucking touch any anime series! You ruined what could have been a fantastic dub!
They were never there in MMP. There were a couple of times when Ichigo/Zoey's ending pose was there(in the first and 25th episode) but it was only in a shortened transformation(only showing the pendant and the ending). Parts of Lettuce's were only in group transformations.
Wow the dub edit ruined TMM even though I never watch the dub but I did watch the sub last year and it so different I felt bad that Lectture (sp?) that it didn't show her transforming on dub this was the reasoning that I prefer Sub over dub but am I only one that enjoy Zakuro's tranform music on dub

The problem with subs is that most people think it's 100% word to word from Japanese to English, they have to change a lot of words in the subs to make sense to the audience. Some things that you are reading isn't actually being said by the characters. To get the full experience of the original is to just learn the language

same I watched it on pop girl when I was 3 years old even though I didn't exactly understand it and after pop girl didn't show it anymore I checked on youtube and watched the dub then the sub and loved both but the dub is better for me cause grew up watching that.

In many ways Tokyo Mew Mew is better. Sure, Mew Mew Power has better music, but many scenes were cut, and they don't even have all 52 episodes. Tokyo Mew Mew's voices are better, Mew Mew Power's voices are disgusting and terrify me. The original names from TMM are better than the weird names in MMP, plus, MMP was made for little kids, TMM was made for young adults and teenagers, considering there's swearing and things like that in the original anime. So, in my opinion, TMM is better!
I personally find Tmm better because that's the original anime, how the writer it wanted to be. Not some English dub where they changed the whole story. Proofs that when you want the true anime experience you'll have to watch it in the original language or with the original subs :)

I'd say the issues I have are that 1) the 4kids dub, while the cut in and OP music was better, meant we didn't get a more faithful release (kinda like how Naruto has 2 English dubs, with and without blood) and 2) 4kids tried to go toe to toe with Sailor Moon with a show who's main thematic beats involved puberty and then done the expected to make it for younger kids resulting in a fairly meh show.
To be honest, I think of TMM and MMP as separate shows. In my mind, Zoey and Ichigo are different people- they have different names and ages. The same goes for the rest of the characters. Also, I believe MMP has some minor differences, plot wise?

As many edits as there were, I actually like the 4kids transformation music a little more. Like with Ichigo's transformation, the original was very orchestral, which was fine, but Zoey's version was more upbeat and pop-like. A shame they edited so much out of it, including an entire sequence. I like both Zakuro and Renee's transformation music, though. Very different, but still fitting for both.

MMP was the reason I stop watching all my anime in English Dubs. The first time I realized English version was cutting out so much of the actually scene and changed the music, I couldn’t believe. Watching it in the original version made so much sense. I now watch all my anime in the original Japanese version because I didn’t want any cut scenes.
I actually liked the English Mew Mew Power. I liked the voices and all that. I thought the name change was alright too, considering it was for a young, American or Western audience. Music was awesome, one thing 4Kids gets right, kinda all the time. The only thing was that looking back on it now, they completely messed up the story line, which completely ruined it. No wonder they had it cancelled. They should have just translated it, and read it like that. Maybe a few differences here and there, but they completely changed the story, I dont even think they watched the original. Like he found out she was a Mew Mew in, what, episode 12? Then he suddenly forgets it. It was so confusing and I dont even know.

Mew Mew Power / Tokyo Mew Mew is my favourite anime by far. I grew up watching the 4kids dub. Every morning I used watch it before I would go to school. I would even get my Dad to tape the episodes so go watch them again whenever I wanted. I still know all the songs off the English dub off by heart. Mew Mew Power was such an big part in my childhood. Will absolutely adore this anime for as long as I live.

I'm so surprised at how many people liked the 4Kids dub! I don't mean to offend, but I thought it was was just really bad. It was bad voice acting, a LOT of script changing that often changed the meaning of the lines, and the names... It felt so gross to watch it because it was so watered down and Americanized. I feel like if you want an anime for what it is, you avoid stuff like 4Kids. Not all dubs are bad (for instance, Funimation generally does a decent job), but you don't get what the show was really supposed to be with (some) dubs.

+Moist Von Lipwig Mew Mew Power Is the reason I watch Sub when I was a kid I didn't know that it was so different I used to watch it on TV. when I was 11 I got a prepaid USB internet stick and started to watch anime on UA-cam so when I watched Mew Mew Power all the way to episode 26 than could not find 27 in English anywhere. so I caved and watched it in Japaneses Sub I could not follow the plot the characters had changed so much and so I watched Tokyo Mew Mew from episode one and loved it.
I was so disillusioned to Dub by the end that I refused to watch dub when ever I can watch Sub instead. the only two anime I willingly watched in Dub after that are Sword Art Online and Deadman Wonderland. even that it took my brother playing clips of the Dub so I could judge the Voice Acting.
+Kiralea Swan At least you can to love the originals of things. My guilty pleasure dubs are Hetalia, Black Butler and OHHC. Mostly because they have a lot of common voice actors between the three that I like and admire.
+Moist Von Lipwig I watched OHSHC before switching to Sub only. So I have seen both and it's not bad and only gives me a small headache from the audio quality. Another reason I prefer subs is that the audio is cleaner. I let my little sister watch OHSHC and she loves it but she won't watch Sub. :) Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler is awesome but the OVA are still only in Sub. I haven't watched Hetalia yet :)

As someone who grew up with the Mew Mew Power version and later on watched the rest of the show as Tokyo Mew Mew (Due to MMP not have all the episodes) I like both and see nothing wrong with either

Tbh the animation is totally the same. The plot is also the same, a group of girls get powers to save the earth. The only difference is the script, voice acting and music. The script is good considering its the english dub and they have to change it up to make it “kid-friendly.” The voice acting...It really could’ve been better. Sometimes they sound so emotionless and they all almost sound the same in the dub. The music is really good! Its catchy and appeals to kids today! In my opinion Tokyo Mew Mew better because of these reasons.

I find weird, she says some of the animation are different, but I have seen most of the animation she clams is only in the Japanese version and I haven't watch it yet. (I plan on watching season two which has no English dub. Which sad cause I'll miss all the catchy music.

Still gotta like the English dub music for each character because it seems to add to the character. They should still redub this in full, with their original names and uncut. I'd live to see that. And before you say, *"It's better in Japanese with subs, just read the subs."* I have epilepsy, and reading so fast without pausing, is nearly impossible. And it's very difficult to read and watch at the same time. I only do it ones I REALLY want to see the new episodes to because everyone online is spoiling. Like DURARARAX2 when it first came out. And that gave me headaches during and after words. I try to watch both, but prefer to watch dubbed first so I know what's going on in the animation.
It was mostly because that particular font didn't have lowercase letters X3. Although, I think I should've expanded on it a bit since, if the comments are to be believed, quite a few people thought I did the cuts myself XD.

She does not. Not in the English dub anyways. In the original Japanese version, they only showed her full solo transformation twice: in episodes 5 and 16. The English dub replaced 5 with the Animal Instinct sequence and they cut it out in episode 16 all together. I have all of the episodes of both versions on DVD and can show you those specific scenes to prove it.

As I said, she didn't have a "Solo" transformation in the dub. Parts of it were used for the group sequences 4Kids put together but she never had one by herself.

Actually it was twice, the premiere episode(originally 12 in Japanese) and episode 25. But this is for the full transformation sequence which, unfortunately, those to weren't.

Time was probably a consideration. A lot of anime that comes over here is edited for time because you have to squeeze in commercials and sometimes edits are also put in at the insistence of networks that air English language version anime. If you'll recall, the English adaptation of Yu-Gi-Oh had two two-parters in the first season that were merged at the insistence of Kids WB. The two-parters later aired on 4KidsTV on Fox.
Oh man I been hearing about this anime for years all through my childhood as long as I can remember and I finally got around to watch it (in the sub version) recently. I had no idea how much was cut in the dub. I almost forgot 4Kids was behind this so I can imagine how messed up TMM was because of them. I don't know how I never saw this anime before when I grew up watching 4Kids or I did watch a little bit of the anime but just can't remember if I did.
I just wanna say when it gets to mint when the piano starts playing and the other one is playing then all of a sudden 1:16 boom! That makes a perfect combination of the music!
I grew up watching mew mew power so I got so used to the V/A dub, so when I listened to the Subbed version it felt wrong and it sounded really weird.

Sure we have a dub... but it never finished and the changes were noticable, even to a few that didn't even see the original.
There are no curse words in the Japanese version of the show. In fact, there are hardly any curse words in the Japanese language at all. Something offensive spoken is determined by the politeness level of their speech. Hardly any in this show was considered offensive.
Fansubbers tend to add curse words(sometimes really bad ones) to make the show seem more adult. And there's nothing wrong with shadowing. The body is still sillouhetted(or however you spell it XD) so nothing offensive is seen.
I like MMP because of how short their transformations are. I mean, the TMM, their transformation are so long, and it's pretty boring, but the MMP, their transformation are shorter and has really good music. And the reason why 4kids did not add Bridget's transformation because half of the scene, she was naked. 4kids didn't want parents to complain about naked girls who are transforming, so that's why they add so many changes.
But they changed almost all the original story! Watch TMM or MMP is like watching two different animes, ages and personalities were changed. That sucks!
Tokyo Mew Mew is better because in Mew Mew Power when they do anime expressions it doesn’t sound right,

I see they didn't want be responsible for another uproar from the anime community so from then on they play it safe and dubbed shows that were terrible even in Japan so they can look smart.
That's not how it happened. 4Kids couldn't get a merchandise deal, so they dropped the dub altogether.

Yes it is. If you only watched the English version, you might not get why her music is like that. In the original Japanese version, Pudding is Chinese, which is why her music is Chinese in style.
i watched a few episodes of mew mew power and the voice acting, music, plot changes and edits were the crappiest things i've ever seen.
It's probably because Lettuce has all those bubbles in front of her that they're too lazy to edit out (then again I would be too haha; it'd probably come out awful); plus along with Zakuro she has more "nudity" so-to-speak to have to cover up. And her entire sequence has the shading used for only the first few moments of the others, so yeah, they obviously just didn't want to fiddle with it at all.
I grew up with this so the dub is my favourite but I do also really like the sub. But guess what. I'm one of those scary people your sub friends tell you about. The ones who like both.

The team as a whole are called Mew Mews but only one girl(Ichigo) is a cat. The other animals are Blue Lorikeet, Finless Porpoise, Golden Lion Tamarin(a type of monkey) and Grey Wolf.

I've literally never watched this show, any version of it, but I had a weird phase in middle school where I just watched a bunch of magical girl transformation videos. The only one I distinctly remember out of these is Mint.

I could never get into the English dub of Tokyo mew mew. I started with the Japanese version and later discovered the English dub, but it was so bad compared to the original. I'm glad that people liked the English dub! I just sadly wasn't able to get into it...
Ok I've watched every English dub of Mew Mew Power they have and for the record its totally awesome I love the music input they have and I love Zoey's catch fraze at the end that Tokyo Mew Mew does not have " Mew Mew Style Mew Mew Grace Mew Mew Power in your Face ! "
Tokyo Mew Mew has a catchphrase. It just that it was usually used before she starts fighting (And it was "For the Earth's Future, I'll be of service - Meow!"). The English dub moved the scene to end the transformation sequence, most likely because they thought it fit with the transformation song they made.

I'll check it out. But something that I've noticed that would make 4kids unable to dub any more episodes. In episode 36, the story of Ryou's past was five years before the mew project. But since 4kids made Keiichiro 17, unless they changed it somehow, it'd be like they're saying that he could drive when he was twelve. AWKWARD!
They were censored not because kids couldn't handle "boob shadow" but because these girls are under the age of consent and there for showing them naked at all would be considered child pornography and therefore illegal.
And that's the problem whenever America decide to dub any of these shows, especially magical girl anime. These anime are made in Japan, where the age of consent is 13 and these characters are 13 and above. Nothing about these shows are sexually explicit so according to federal law, they wouldn't really be considered as child pornography and they really only count it if the minor is an actual real life child, not an animated fictional character.

They were never there in MMP. There were a couple of times when Ichigo/Zoey's ending pose was there(in the first and 25th episode) but it was only in a shortened transformation(only showing the pendant and the ending). Parts of Lettuce's were only in group transformations.

The problem with subs is that most people think it's 100% word to word from Japanese to English, they have to change a lot of words in the subs to make sense to the audience. Some things that you are reading isn't actually being said by the characters. To get the full experience of the original is to just learn the language
