I absolutely had to have one with a Shaker just for the look. Drove 2 hours in pouring down rain to trade in for a Scatpack with the Shaker, then drove 2 hours in pouring down rain again to get back in it. 100% worth it.
Solid video. I bought the 2020 R/T Shaker for the same reason. A pricey $2,595 option for 2020 models but still enjoying it 1 year later. One other note for those that don't know, you have to remove the Shaker to add oil. No big deal but make sure the dealership (or whoever) puts the Shaker back on correctly.
You don't need to remove the shaker to fonan oil change its a flexible funnel that you need all mechanics should no how to do this without removing the shaker I never removed mine
You absolutely got it man. I am super happy with my Shaker. I absolutely love it but I am always going to do my beat to speak the truth and keep things positive on my channel. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support man.
@@BurnseysRT I considered the shaker package, but found more value in the plus package. Then again, I'm old and "cool" just doesn't provide the thrill it used to.
That’s a good package and is the right call for most. I have zero amenities and I do t have the 8.4” touchscreen so I dont have performance pages either. The plus package is super nice to have.
I really like the Shaker package! I have the same situation with intake temps in my car, but I enjoy the sound of the open air box! You have a good looking, unique Challenger!
Thanks man. I am enjoying the Shaker Package for sure. I agree about the sound of the open air box. It does sounds amazing. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
Nice job on your shaker videos! I have a 21 scat shaker with air catcher plugs out. If you idle temps rise but when Im moving its 5 to 6 degrees above ambient. I agree the no seal under the hood is weak and should be sealed like the TA. The shaker lets air in from 3 places on mine the air catcher headlight hole, the shaker inlet and from underneath the air box with air coming straight in from above the chin spoiler. More than enough air coming in for sure. These engines create alot of heat in general so any idling especially when its hot out will produce hotter intake temps. Any car will heat up at idle, we are just in tune to this because our cars give us the real time readouts. I also bought the mopar cold air tube that plugs into the back of the headlight. I took it out because it was worse, that tube is restricted and I tested many times the open headlight hole with no tube allows the intake temps to be lower. More air rushes the intake box and the drivers side of the engine where all the shaker plumbing and throttle body is located. I took my tube out and its sitting on the shelf save your money on that mod.
That is interesting about the tube, I just installed the tube on my 2023 & it is twisted to the point that it is restricting airflow, so what you’re describing, might be my end result if MOPAR doesn’t have a cure for the twisted airflow tube.
Heat-soak does not apply to normally aspirated cars. Its only a factor for turbo cars running top mount intercoolers. Regardless of the gap in the hood where to shaker meets it the constant cold air intake will be beneficial; maybe even moreso then the headlight intake. Plastic is not a good thermal conductor of heat.
I absolutely looooove my '15 B5 Blue Shaker Challenger R/T ... I'm a old school muscle car nut and the Challenger hits the nostalgic ball out of the park...plus IT HAD A 6 SPEED !!! GOD Blessed Me With 1 Of My Dream Cars !!! 😇👍🏼
Right On with the Video. I feel I sacrifice performance with the 6spd but for me the feel is incredible. Here in Florida I have seen 141 degrees intake at a stop light but as soon as I get going it drops to 10 to 15 degrees hotter than outside temp. Drops rather quick but the gap does not drop more until the evening.
Same here on the 6 speed. My charger with the 3.07 gears and 8A would beat my current Challenger by a pretty good bargain. Probably .4-.5 seconds in a quarter mile but like you said the feel of driving a manual is just amazing. I have to do more AIT testing. I dont have performance pages so I have to use by OBDII reader to data log. It’s 97 degrees right now. Actually thinking this would be the best test.
1:39 i agree with you there. The 345 hemi will only take in the amount of air it needs and the factory airbox is perfectly fine. Although the shaker hood will bring in extra air, the engine will only bring in what it needs. Plus the shker box is not completely sealed and will easily bring in hot engine by air into the intake. Now if you have a 392 intake on the rt engine, and a bigger throttle body, or even the 392 hemi, then the shaker hood will be used to its fullest potential
Perfectly said my man. Couldn’t agree more. With the air box being open I am going to do a test run with a stock air box and at some get some plexi glass and try to design a clear cover for the Mopar air box. Just need time.
My '21 Challenger RT 6.4L Shaker runs great. Needs wider rear tires, and when I wear these out I'll get some skins that hopefully sticks to the road much better. The only thing I don't like about the shaker is having to take it off to add oil. I do get compliments and looks every time I drive it, even sweet ladies have told me that my car was sexy. Sadly it sure seems to attract a lot of police officers. It's a torred hot rod car. Only been 169 mph in so far. It had more to go but the road got too rough so I shut it down. Anyway, Happy New Year's Day 2023 it's sunny 77° in north Texas I'm about to go for a ride in my shaker. ☮️
I have a 2018 Scatpack 6.4L. I installed the AIRAID air intake.. Very happy with it. I think the seal between the body of the intake and the hood is pretty good. The filter itself is much bigger than what you find on a K&N system.
Bought a 2023 F8 Green Shaker Wide Body package Spec/Edition Swinger, it is definitely an attention grabber, I’m 65, just my weekend fair weather toy, luv the hell out of it, been Q’ed why I didn’t go for the Hellcat, me, just happy as a pig in chit with the Shaker Scat Pack, fast enough, just a cruising sled, no racing just teasing!! Safe driving cupcakes!!
I can’t imagine you see many either. I probably don’t because of the snow. I would assume the same for you. People are going to think I am crazy in the winter driving this car. I am going to try and design a drain tube for my shake to take the water somewhere other than my intake tube.
I agree the shaker is a sharp looking car....I live in Atlanta I have not seen anybody else drive a shaker 🤔I also have the scat pack I see 10 or 15 of them ..They are one hell of a head turner😏
I love my shaker in F8 green. I put air lift bags on it and it’s an eye magnet. I’ve never been worried about speed or gas mileage. It’s all about parking lot pimping for me Lol
I will say without a doubt that the Challenger Shaker is the best looking Mopar. I was asked about it just about any time I parked and people were within 50 feet of me. It was really awesome.
Is it worth it to remove the whole shaker and replace it with maybe a leg maker true CAI?? Would that help the performance or is that even possible to remove the shaker?
In theory you could do that. The throttle body position should be the same and should hook up. Would just need to remove the shaker intake and tubes etc.
Have 5.7 RT+ Shaker and have no overheat problems due to -15°C this winter. Greetings from Russia, haha 😂 I can say it is really rare car even for Moscow 😊
Wow. That’s awesome. That has got to be a rare beast for sure. I love the shaker. Good luck with yours. I still only see about 5-10 a year where I am. It’s so awesome when you do.
@@BurnseysRT interesting thing that I see increasing numbers of Challengers and Chargers in Moscow, considering these models have never been officially supplied to Russia. 99% of them are from Copart and therefore many community jokes are about damages and condition of these cars, lol 😆 This is first year I own Challenger and decided not to expose it to winter roads often to save it from salt. However there are insane owners who drive their Challengers in Siberia and they seem fine to start in -38°C. Anyway, seems like Mopar cars really belowed by people here. @@petrkomarov2521 all the best to you as well. I drove my Shaker in all weather conditions. It’s harsh weather but these cars handle well in the snow with good snow tires. Thanks for your support and again. Wish you the best as well.
I love driving manuals. You picked the right car man. Driving in town with the open filter stresses me out. Watching that intake temp shoot up at stop lights😲😲😲
Absolutely agree. I love this thing pros and cons considered. I hear ya on being stressed out about the intake temps going up. But even if they hit 140 or so it still says it’s in a safe range so it’s probably fine. Just hits performance a bit.
$6K to have a cool looking intake that does nothing for performance. There are a lot of videos out there showing shakers running warmer during idle as well. You’d be a lot better of spending the $ on a wide body where you get extra grip and fully adjustable suspension.
I gotta disagree with the cool off time from heat soak. a little WOT will help. With the gap in the airbox to the hood helps to cool off the engine bay heat.
You got me there on the cool time. Listening back to what I said I over exaggerated a bit. But you do need a little open road or WOT to cool it down. If you are stuck to heavier stop and go it may take a long time to cool down. Maybe should have clarified that a bit. I am stuck to more true city when I get hear soaked. Not rural roads anywhere near by. Do you think we are just better off leaving the intake set up how it is? You said the opening in there is for engine bay cooling so probably just leave it. To your point the engine probably couldn’t ingest all of the air being put into the intake from the shaker.
@@BurnseysRT you can experiment with the closing off the slit on the air box if you'd like. Makes for more content. But I think that's the best setup to have with a shaker. Unless you make or fabricate heat extractors. The shaker itself is kind of a double edge sword. Sure you get more air for intake and engine bay but the scoop itself practically sits on the engine leaving less air to lower the temps. The hellcat hood would be more ideal but it doesn't have the cool factor of a shaker. I wouldn't be focused on performance while sitting in traffic anyways and you shouldn't either lol
Sorry I missed your response. Thanks appreciate the feedback. And yes. Haha not a good idea to focus on performance when sitting in traffic. That’s good advice.
