@@kennedyknew8701rightly so? Lennon and Harrison weren't offered Knighthoods(probably due to them passing away early),but McCartney and Ringo both accepted Knighthoods.
One of the most interesting Noel Gallagher interviews, simply because it isn't riddled with "...F**kin..."s in every statement. And he doesn't even seem like he's trying not to. Respect to Parky...and the Chief, he's all the more charming for it.
ive seen this interview before. stunning. really. noel really moves me mostly he makes me laugh but he can be deeply sincere. such an an interesting interview, all of the discussing their art. and so much mutual respect.
LOVE Michael Parkinson, he was the best, and this was the very best Noel interview because of Parkinson's brilliance and professionalism. He also was such a respectable man, most of his guests opened up in ways they didn't with other interviewers.
Noel's response to the bit about whether he would change things with music is really intelligent. He points out that a movie actor's work is subscribed to the celluloid whereas he can preform his work again live and alter it accordingly.
Yeah he's a very clever man. Some of the things he has said even when he was 28 when he made it with Oasis, some of the things he points out and knows he comes across as very worldly wise with a touch of street wisdom too. You can even hear it in some of his lyrics. I know that's not how you were pointing it out but still I thought I'd say.
Brilliant interview with all 3 guests and you’ll never get that looseness in a interview again because of how scared we are to say half the dictionary.
I picked up on he said it's worse if you get into drugs it just makes you drink more (I've never done a drug in my life except when my best mate put an ecstasy in my beer one night...FFS)
@@joelynn5358 Cocaine gives you the ability to carry on drinking without getting too pissed. You have beer stamina so you can drink without stopping for couple of days if you've got enough coke to keep you going, which Noel obviously did.
@@sirporkibrough I usually just drink bottled beer when I'm on the Chang as I can't drink as fast for some reason. Mind you I don't have it much now as I stay in and keep myself to myself. Done all that in the 80s onwards.
Brilliant interviews, with one of my favorite American Actors of all time, and two word class musicians who BTW support and love my football team, Glasgow Celtic.
parkinson was very classy, a gentleman inte the true sense of the word. what he also had that I feel most interviewers of celebrities are missing these days is genuine interest behind the questions he asks. good man, rest in peace.
Parky at the top of his game, with 3 great characters as guests, perfect! Dustin was a bit out of it when Rod & Noel started banging on forever about football, but Parky skilfully reeled it in and got him back into the mix.
What Dustin says about the difference between say a musician snd an actor reminded Me. Of what Joni .Mitchell said. "Apainter does a painting and hangs it on a wall somebody buys it or nobody buys it but nobody even said to Van Gogh "paint a starry night again man
I seen The Faces myself, 3 times in the early 70's in Newcastle upon Tyne at The ODEON. Best live band I ever seen play in my life and I have seen hundreds.
This is the difference, much as I like MP he doesn’t understand the lives of others , he tries bless him. Noel is right , living in this fcked up country distills the crap downwards . Life was and is so damned hard , they don’t get it , we do.
The funny thing is, I seriously watched this interview because I wanted to see if Noel could do an interview without swearing. And to his credit, he swore less than the other two on the stage. Brilliant viewing and really interesting listening to Noel. Never been a big fan of Oasis to be honest, but he comes across as down to earth and honest.
The main difference between Parkinson and today's chat shows is that Parkinson was always about the guests, today's chat shows are about Grahame Norton or Jonathan Ross and the guests are there to make the host look really goodwith obviously scripted questions and reactions as if a writer has spent time working out the wittiestreplys and comments The host is always the star of the show even though he's never done anything other than chat to actors and artists on a sofa nowadays there are people with little or no talent who are actually more famous th talented artists they interview
I never watch Graham Norton's show no matter who the guest is, because there are too many of them sitting on the couch fawning over each other telling themselves how wonderful they are. Parky, on the other hand just concentrates on one guest at the time and gets the right blend of interesting information by asking relevant questions.
Very similar to Ray Davies to younger brother Dave. Ray said of Dave being born without a trace of irony: "He came into my life as an interloper" Hilarious.
Brilliant interview. Parky comes across as quite naive and middle class when talking about Noel’s hard working class background. But Parky was raised in a tough mining village, the son of a coal miner!
That was so long ago Parky's forgotten what life is like for ordinary working class people. They all grow up in tough areas surrounded by crime gangs and drugs most rock stars football stars etc are working class. I didn't drift into crime due to drugs I was into crime since I could walk and taking drugs since the age of fifteen. I don't get involved in either these days. Not because I suddenly decided to "go straight" or found God I simply grew out of it like I grew out of playing cowboys and Indians.
Good that Rod mentioned Ronnie Lane as the engine room of the Faces, just as he was with the Small Faces. Sorely missed. Strange that Noel looks so much like him.

Wow that's brilliant,I bet the atmosphere was great.
This was fun with the three guys interviewed . Gave me some laughs inbetween times .
