During the War in Afghanistan the entire surface area of the country was under 24/7 surveillance with various large and small scale drones. Afghanistan is only slightly smaller than Texas. It would not be difficult for the Federal government to constantly monitor the entire border with the technology they currently have access to and experience using. The entirety of Afghanistan is a whole lot more area than the Texas border and it was also a war zone overseas not a US state absolutely loaded with military air infrastructure. The US mexico border is only 1954 miles. A small squadron of predator drones with few dozen operators could provide full surveillance coverage of the entire border and now that the predator has been replaced by the reaper there 360 predator drones sitting around collecting dust.
Every county has an elected Sheriff. There are 99 counties in Iowa, so we have 99 Sheriffs. I've worked as a Reserve Deputy at the Adams County Iowa Sheriff's office for 36 years.
Every county/parish in every state in the country has their own Sheriff’s office that runs on a different jurisdiction from the individual municipal police departments you see in cities and towns. A simplified way of looking at it is that the police overlook the cities and towns (urban), while the Sheriffs overlook the county as a whole (rural). Another interesting thing about county sheriffs is that they’re the only members of law enforcement that are voted in by the people through local elections.
Also, the constables are voted in. Texas has constabularies that are in the county, which is divided up into precincts. The Constables are voted in and have deputies that for him. My brother was a Constable's Deputy for 33 years in Harris County.
We have both police chiefs and Sheriffs in Montana. Where I'm at, it's a sheriff elected to the position, we don't like what he's doing (including allowing the Federal Government to do things) we can vote him out. Sheriffs are outside of the usual city set up. Alaska and Connecticut have no sheriffs. Hawaii has deputy sheriffs that serve in the public safety department. The rest of the states have them. Texas just passed a law that these migrants can be arrested and deported by Texas. The Federal Government is screaming about it. Texas doesn't have the authority, they are claiming. Well, if the Federal Government isn't going to do it, what are the states supposed to do? It's in and out of the Supreme Court right now about whether Texas can actually do that. 28 states have sent sheriff's deputies and National Guard troops to protect the border. Things are heating up. If the Feds will not protect the border, Texas says they have to. We shall see. There are a lot of people that feel illegal immigrants deserve the 'American Dream'. Should be allowed in. Until recently, when all those illegals started showing up in their backyards. What they never consider is the darker side. The juvenile sex trafficking, the exploitation of these people. The violence against women trying to cross. They claim its the minority, not the majority. Well, that's just wrong. For the kids that are sex trafficked, it's a horror show. And aren't we better than that? Allowing it to happen?
Yes, the situation is much worse. Americans across the country are angry and frustrated over the number of illegal immigrants crossing into USA from Mexico. The Governor of Texas has called in the Texas National Guard. Governors from 27 states have offered their support to Texas. Example, Florida sent 1,000 of their national guard members. Keep us in your prayers.
Florida just announced that they are sending 1,000 of their State Guard as well. Unlike the National Guard, State Guard units can't be federalized and taken over by the president. They answer only to the state government.
The people that say that there isn't an immigration problem are the people that will pi$$ on your shoes and try to tell you its raining..... thanks for the videos! 👍
I live like 5-10 minutes away from the border in Texas with Matamoros, Tamps. Matamoros is the nest of the gulf cartel. Many "Americans" or people that live up north say "we have open borders" but in actuality, was before the 60s. Many people are adamant that we have open borders, but we don't. There are walls in areas where there is no Rio Grande river, heck!! There are even walls all along the river and beside that there are border patrol agents patrolling the areas. So, how is that people say we have open borders? We don't! Many of the people that come to the USA, do it through the gateway bridges. I am not saying we don't have a problem, we do. Please don't think people crossing are only from Mexico, they come from all around the world. Many people from Mexico come trying to flee the violence from the cartels. There are actually towns that are abandoned due to the violence. Well, the ones that want illegal immigrants, are factories, and produce companies. If the government would put higher sanctions on companies that hire illegal workers, no one would want to come to the USA.
34…Im still watching. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and I can’t stand how this administration is dealing with illegal immigration, or actually they’re not dealing with it. I have empathy for the people who want a better life, but the way immigration is now is broken. America needs to find a way to make legal immigration easier and quicker.
Also 43:46. I love long format videos too. You make the videos you want. Dont worry about the subscribers and viewers. They will come if you're passionate and enjoy your work ❤
This right now is the biggest problem in our country now. There are many dangerous people coming into our country now. Yes everything you are hearing is true.
Texas has a bigger border problem than the other border states. For one Texas has a longer border than the others. Also it's the first state border you get to on the trek from the south.
Sheriff's departments usually operate outside of large incorporated areas, which have their own police departments. During the Obama administration, they had a program where they assigned a social worker to stay in touch with immigrants until their court appearance. With the social worker 96 or 97% of the immigrants showed up for their court appearance. Without the social workers, 94% showed up for their immigration hearing. Since day 1 of his administration has been asking Congress for more funding for the Border Patrol, more immigration officers, age more immigration judges. Congress has been the roadblock.
34 I love this content. I live in Indiana which is probably 1200 miles from the US Mexico boarder ao we do not see footage like this. Thank you for this information
The office of sheriff originated in England. Sheriffs in the United States are usually elected positions and nearly every county in the US has an elected sheriff. Every state is made up of counties (or an equivalent), which is a unit of local government, and which also originated in England. The only state without counties is Louisiana, which has a similar local government unit called a parish, which dates back to French and Spanish colonial rule. There’s a bunch of useless historical trivia for ya! 😄😄
Andre, I'd like to chat with you about the migration situation in the United States. I am almost 72, and am a retired school administrator from Las Vegas, Nevada, with 35 years experience as an English language learner's specialist. I also am married to a Mexican who migrated from Mexico in the early 1980s. The story of illegal migration has changed immensely since those days, and I think you would be interested in my experiences.
I watch till the end on these longer videos especially these ones thanks for shining a light on videos like this some people might not see them otherwise
9, 34. I’m a Texan. I really like this Sheriff. Open, honest, not aggressive and just doing his job for the citizens. I haven’t read all the comments yet, and someone has probably explained this. Just in case it wasn’t clear, we have federal police like the FBI and many others. Then there are State police like the Highway Patrol, or in Texas the Rangers. The states are subdivided into counties where the Sheriff is in charge. The counties are subdivided into cities and towns where local police work. Everyone in theory has to report, or at minimum consult the larger (area) authority.
In another video he explains that he can’t really do these types of videos with officers (probably a policy thing), but that sheriff’s are more willing to since they hold more power. Something like that! 😊
Sheriffs are elected officials. Other types of police have to answer to some sort of bureaucracy (Mayor, city councils, governors or even federal agencies). The sheriff only answers to his voters.
He can't interview a border patrol agent directly because they're on a gag order. They speak the can lose their jobs but he can interview people knowledgeable of the border patrol and the policies etc
I feel so bad for the people trying to defend the border and enforce the law😥... the USA really wants to accept everyone but they need to enter legally 💔
If you want to watch more on the crisis at the boarder, 60 minutes just aired a video about Chinese illegal immigrants coming through California Mexico boarder. It gives more context on what's happening.
Andre normal American Blue collar individuals like myself who live in Wisconsin are almost at the point of going down to Texas to defend the border there are people in this country after what has recently happened 26 states have sent national guard to the border to help defendant you should look up some of the newer videos on what's actually going on on the border today
34:04 and still going. I like these longer videos because not only do you learn something but so do I. It's old school journalism that isn't clogged up with fake narratives.
We have law enforcement on city level , county level , state level , and federal level. Every state is divided into counties and the county sheriff is an elected position , residents elect them. The sheriff's duties include overseeing law enforcement , tax collection , up holding the constitution at county level , process serving and serving of warrants among other duties . There are currently 3081 sheriffs in the United States
34. Sheriff Dodson told it exactly the way it is. There aspects of the immigration problem that I find very frustrating, but Sheriff Dodson has come to understand his limitations. He understands the problem, and he understands his grossly inadequate resources. He has put in place priorities to make the most of what he has. I'm not going to add anything to what he said because everything he said is true, and I don't want to write a long essay just to air my grievances.
NYC even has a Sheriff. Some counties are huge. San Bernardino County, California is almost as big as the State of West Virginia yet has a Sheriff's Department of only about 3800 employees total (not just on patrol.) 34
34 Watched to the end. My brother-in-law is from Mexico. He came up the legal way (now has citizenship) & gets really pissed off at the illegals coming through the border!
Some paths are far more active than others. When you wall off one path they take another... that is kinda the point. Build the wall to the point where they have to go to the entrance.
So, we have two boarders, up North and down South, our southern boarders have always big a big problem, but now we are seeing it coming in from Canada and by plane.
34The Mariel Boat lift from Cuba to Florida was awful. My cousin took his boat to Cuba with their governments permission to get Cubans out. Cuba made the boat Captains take prisoners too. Miami was flooded with criminals and crime was awful. The Cubans took advantage of the USA by fraud and pretty much forced many Americans out. I could not get a job unless I spoke Spanish
Andre, Best way to break down the border situation is this, it's not just Mexicans or Latinos in general coming across the border that's the problem, it's tens of thousands coming everyday, from 40 different countries around the world, and also terrorist groups crossing,. The current US government seems to ignore it unless it's politically good for their political party, other than that they seem to care less. Now after pleading, asking the state of Texas shipped their overflow to certain states who for years said they'd take them. Curious once just a small percentage of the amount of illegal immigrants showed up, these states who said they would take them changed their mind real quick. So after a few months of this Texas was left with no other option and no help from the current administration took border security into their own hands, and of course the Biden administration threatened to stop them. Very few in the US media are asking who's funding these flights from overseas to central and south America, and who's directing these groups.
just to clarify, even though it says Texas Sheriff, he is a county sheriff, only has jurisdiction in his elected county... on the state level you have Texas Rangers, and Texas State Highway Patrol.... there are many others but those are some of the main ones
Hey Andre! Super appreciate your reactions, the border is a very fascinating and complex issue for Americans right now. You might want to react to 60 minutes: Chinese migrants are fastest growing group crossing into U.S from Mexico - it’s only about 13 minutes long.
My grown child and sons used to love going to downtown El Paso. They don't go there anymore as the streets are full of migrants sleeping and living. So many are not Hispanics from Mexico, but many other countries.
The vast majority of people come through El Paso and Tijuana and I think Mission, TX and there's a lot of people for the Border Patrol to process. Whether you believe there's a crisis or not depends on you politics. New Mexico has a 200 mile border with Mexico and there's mostly commerce that goes on down there rather than immigrants. If the coyote left you near Columbus, NM you'd have nearly 200 miles of harsh desert to cross before coming to anything resembling civilization. Mexico is our largest trading partner and it all goes through Nogales, AZ. Billions of dollars a year worth of goods go through that border crossing in both directions. We'd rather have them come legally but there are a lot of necessary jobs that would never get done without people who are here illegally. They mostly stay under the radar, have jobs, pay taxes.
The migrant issue is a problem for some and not for others. For the upper class and corporations it helps keep wage increases down because there are more people competing for low paying jobs. Also, creates more demand for products these corporations sell. For the working class its an issue because they are now competing with hundreds of thousands of more people for the same resources; housing, jobs, etc.
Anyone that doesn't care about it are basically encouraging/ turning a blind eye to slave trading/ human trafficking and exploitation. The current administration is chin deep in human exploitation (slave trading)!!!!
All states have sheriffs. The sheriff is the elected chief law enforcement officer of the county/parish for which they serve. A sheriff has authority to deputize or utilize individuals as (s)he sees fit to carry out the legitimate duities of their office. In most circumstances, federal authorities have to notify the sheriff before doing surveillance or any other function of their job. It is a very powerful position. There is a somewhat similar border issue along the Canadian border. The issue is worse because we have people coming in from Iranian-funded regimes...many with criminal or terrorist pasts. Human trafficking is terrible. Moreover, what people don't realize is that Iran is working with Venezuela and Boliva, sending money and drones and even drone carriers to create a Yemen-like situation in the Caribbean with states from Florida to Texas being targeted.
Every County has a Sherrif's Dept. Most cities have their own Police Dept. Many small towns have to share with a neighboring town. We have Highway Patrol Departments. They only patrol our Interstates and Highways.
I spent 8 years in New Mexico search and rescue, many searches and trainings were near the border. Many people don't want to believe how bad it is and many don't believe borders should exist. There is an ugliness that can happen at the border that is difficult to portray in a youtube comment. One of the leading contributors to the current spike is the benefits handed to people that turn themselves in to Border Patrol.
It is in The Constitution.....IT IS D.Cs DUTY AND OBLIGATION to prevent the States from being invaded and seeing they are not its left to locals then they get sued by States that are NOT effected
@@rantingrenegade4225😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 EVERY LAW comes back to the constitution. If you have a law in America, it has to agree with the constitution or it is against the constitution meaning illegal immigration is CONSTITUTIONALLY ILLEGAL😂😂😂😂😂😂 college doesn’t mean your smart, in fact it means the opposite. Go do research. The constitution is the law of the land. It is why America is the best country.
You become an enemy when you are being criminal. My family are Hispanic immigrants but they broke no law to come to the USA. Everyone coming through illegally is a criminal because they came through ILLEGALLY.
There are 62 Sheriff's in New York. One for each county. The NYC metro area Counties the Sheriff's Office doesn't really do law enforcement, they do court stuff. While my county the Sheriff's Office works with the New York State Police to provide law enforcement to the entire 600 sq mi county and work with the 4 village police departments as needed. The sheriff's department/office is the elected Sheriff, the appointed Under-Sheriff, depending on the size of the Sheriff Department they will have under them Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants and then the Deputies. My county has badge numbers for the Sheriff, Under Sheriff, 7 Supervisory positions (Lieutenants and Sergeants), 10 Investigators (currently only the Captain and 3 Investigators), 30 full-time Deputies, and 20 part-time Deputies. Our sheriff's department along with many other in the state also handles all emergency dispatch in the county with 8 dispatchers. Which includes the sheriff's department, state police, 4 police departments, 19 fire departments, ambulance service, and the county paramedic provider. The sheriff's department for my county and other counties also runs the jail, our's holds 81 prisoners under the Jail Administrator and 4 shift Sergeants which supervise 28 full-time and 9 part-time corrections officers. Patrol is handled by the Patrol Division led by the Captain which is administrative, under him is a Sergeant and 2-3 deputies per shift.
We have MANY types of law enforcement in the US. Local police officers, County Constable, State police, Highway patrol, County Sheriff, US marshal, (Texas Rangers), amongst others.
In Denver the sheriff is appointed by the mayor, the sheriff of NYC is appointed by the mayor of NYC, in King County in Washington State which includes Seattle and its surrounding areas the Sherriff is appointed by the county council, and in Pennsylvania Northampton and Lucerne counties appoint their sherriffs( I believe the county commissioners appoint them). Connecticut has Marshals instead of Sheriffs since 2000 and before 2000 California called their sherriffs marshals but those are elected positions. Historically many older east coast states had a mix of appointed and elected sheriffs and over time more counties fought for the right to elect them. States out west started out with the right to elect sheriffs from the beginning. East coast states inherited appointed sheriffs from royal governors and early colonial charters and as an artifact of colonial laws. Pennsylvania in particular had a lot of appointed sheriffs and has been electing more sheriffs over the past 150 years.
Me and most people I know, even here in the Pacific Nortwest stand with Texas. We are all on the opposite side of the state from Seattle, Spokane would be more our city🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

The Sheriff Described A Coyote(Human Smuggler) Also Work For The Mexican Cartel & Mule(Drug Smuggler)
Texas has 254 Sheriffs.
Our guards have been activated since Biden took office.
Very much enjoyed watching your reaction! Thank you for this ❤from Texas
Ty so much 🙌
It's also because Texas isn't willing to go along, whereas AZ and CA basically wave them all in.
Yes we have over 1200 miles of border in Texas
59! love it. Very informative! And way worse now, we all, If not most. feeling the effects for sure.. keep on keepin on!✌️
So many United States citizens, just like you, are completely baffled by the lack of resources and personnel at the USA/Mexico border.
Great video. I love his video on the Appalachian poor. Very enlightening.
You're not alone.. Excellent video.. 34.....please do more of these videos
sheriffs are usually County Driven.. so most counties in a state have their own Sheriff's department
Ah ok. Thanks 🙌
@@european-reactsa lot of these people are here for votes once the election is over there will be mass deportations
Keep working the algorithm Andre. We're watching.
Make sure you watch the press conference today with all the Governor's. I just got back🙏
34 I love this content. I live in Indiana which is probably 1200 miles from the US Mexico boarder ao we do not see footage like this. Thank you for this information
44 mins....I think. Lol Had on my wireless headphones away from my phone. I watched it all. Great video as always. 👍
Minute 34....yes, I listened all the way through even though I have seen the video before (a year ago or so).
34 minutes in and going strong my friend. Loving your reations to Peter's videos 👍
34, still with you. I'm ok with long format and the frequent pauses. Keep it up!
@@randlebrowne2048 I know, I live down the street from one 😊
He can't interview a border patrol agent directly because they're on a gag order. They speak the can lose their jobs but he can interview people knowledgeable of the border patrol and the policies etc
I feel so bad for the people trying to defend the border and enforce the law😥... the USA really wants to accept everyone but they need to enter legally 💔
It’s all for votes open your eyes
@@diangelo6686 I agree that's why I can't vote for a Democrat... not all Republicans are decent but they are better for our economy and country
If you want to watch more on the crisis at the boarder, 60 minutes just aired a video about Chinese illegal immigrants coming through California Mexico boarder. It gives more context on what's happening.
My state of VA has 123 Sheriffs and over 9800 staffing sheriff's offices, including Sheriffs, Deputies, and other staff.
There is a sheriff in every county and there are multiple counties in each state. So yes every state has sheriffs
You need to watch a movie called "Sound of Freedom "
Thanks for shining a light on this. There are many powerful individuals who don't want people to know about this.
44. I love your longer content. I’m usually watching at work so it’s nice not to have to change what I’m watching every 15 minutes.
34! Never heard of peter santenello until now, love watching the reaction
Sheriffs for the most part are county affiliated not state. Some states have state police. Then you got the cities police.
9, 34. Still with you. Enjoy the long videos.
Andre,
Best way to break down the border situation is this, it's not just Mexicans or Latinos in general coming across the border that's the problem, it's tens of thousands coming everyday, from 40 different countries around the world, and also terrorist groups crossing,.
I don't know how true this is but I've heard it said that Sheriffs are the last line of defense for the people if the government goes rogue
Yes they are
34! Enjoy all your insights and comments on our country.
I dont see how they are called poor when they are paying thousands to get here
Maybe because their money is worth less in the US.
Maybe because their money is worth less in the US.
34:04
There are sheriff's in different towns throughout states and all throughout the country.
You are not the only one watching, even if i am late showing up. Lol i just found your channel, and I am loving it!
Every County has a Sherrif's Dept. Most cities have their own Police Dept. Many small towns have to share with a neighboring town. We have Highway Patrol Departments. They only patrol our Interstates and Highways.
Yes you need to see more recent videos on this invasion
9!! Not nearly enough funding for border patrol! 🚓
True, but tbh, this administration could spend more money on patrolling and then less on freebies for immigrants. It’s just not delegated correctly
Court dates are out as far as 10 years now.
41:00 always watch whole video
9. Feeling alone in this is a big reason why the Texas independence movement has been rapidly growing!
It is in The Constitution.....IT IS D.Cs DUTY AND OBLIGATION to prevent the States from being invaded and seeing they are not its left to locals then they get sued by States that are NOT effected
This is factually incorrect. The constitution doesn't say anything about immigration. You need to educate yourself before just saying stuff.
@@rantingrenegade4225it is in the constitution that we have the right to defend ourselves against enemies foreign and domestic. 😂😂😂😂
You become an enemy when you are being criminal. My family are Hispanic immigrants but they broke no law to come to the USA. Everyone coming through illegally is a criminal because they came through ILLEGALLY.
Yes it’s very true about the kids being used
There are 62 Sheriff's in New York.
Peter is one of the best. I hope you look up more of his work.
The border should be bipartisan.. this is affecting the whole country in a very negative way and politicians need to work together
Peter is the one best ive found
I always watch all your videos till the end.
We have MANY types of law enforcement in the US. Local police officers, County Constable, State police, Highway patrol, County Sheriff, US marshal, (Texas Rangers), amongst others.
Agree
