I like that guy. He did more to put people off religion than any atheist I've heard. If by chance he is a joking atheist I hope he goes on to a great acting career. Well done guys for suffering that politely.
When people bring up logic I just ask them what logic is, because most people don't know what it is. To most people the word logic is just a world that means "I am right". Logic is the rules that one must follow to reason through the implication of definitions and it does not indicate truth at all. A statement can be completely logical and utterly false at the same time.
Man, this call was really weird...the caller set up their own parameters, which is meaningless even though he said those are cornerstones of their beliefs, then he changes the parameters (technically added), then he has this weird understanding of logic that doesnt match up with formal logic or even the colloquial understanding of logic; and finally accuses the hosts of all sort of absurdities. It was like watching a republican senator trying to defend himself.

So "there can be no contradiction in the word of god" seems to be the rule. therefore "if there is a contradiction it is not the unaltered word of god", seems to be the point? The Bible says that "God is love" and it also states that "God is a man of war." I would love for a Christian to explain how you can engage in a loving war.
This is the basic Catholic Church position - only in matters of faith and morals is the bible infallible. Doesn't matter if Luke and Matthew's Nativity stories contradict each other, for example.
And I don't claim to believe the following but the answer to the basic question - who is to decide which bits are reliable, is: the tradition of the church and councils and the Popes. Just as one can't naively read the US constitution and decide the right of free speech means they can say whatever they like, whenever they like, with no legal repercussions. One has to understand the case law, and SCOTUS decisions which limit all the basic rights, decisions which try to resolve the conflicts between them. In a similar way one can't just read the bible and know exactly what it means.
But not if you ignore them all and if you don't know what's in there in the first place you won't be bothered by them anyway. What I don't understand is why these clowns keep saying this crap to atheists shows. Even if there were no contradictions, so what? They think we'd accept is as "the word of god"?

The idea of hell itself makes both contradictions, because hell is the same punishment for all crimes, that is unjust, and the fact that hell is infinite and there is no such thing as infinite wrongdoing. So by definition hell is unjust also.
@@mrhyde7600
It's also unjust in a third way. Just punishment per definition has a lesson to be learned. That Hell is infinite means it has no purpose teaching those condemned to it a lesson. The fact it doesn't end means any lesson one potentially could learn, "Obey without thought" for example, becomes entirely irrelevant as a lesson, same as "Don't be Evil" etc that you can never leave hell means anything to be learned is meaningless because they can't go live by the lesson learned..
@@guytheincognito4186 that is true, but since it doesn’t specifically tie in to a characteristic contradiction rendering God impossible, I usually only throw that one in there as an icing on the cake, usually when I’m showing that God is just getting off on torturing these guys, like he’s been waiting for this moment for all eternity, literally!
My disbelief of the god claim is not dependent on any biblical contradictions.

The caller tries to appeal to logic while demonstrating an inability to not only engage in a logical thought process but also unable to answer simple questions without becoming hysterical.
Either these guys are way to soft on callers or I've just been spoiled by Matt.
That’s why he will never call Matt again
The Talk Heathen hosts are much much much MUCH easier on theist for the most part. They don't necessarily have the seniority and tenure or level of experience that Matt does. Which means callers get to ramble with their bullshit way more than they should. Matt on the other hand has done this enough to pretty much know when and where conversations are going to go sideways.
It’s good to have some variety. My personal taste is for more subtle snark and less of the blunt stuff Steamroller. I completely understand that it is easy to armchair critique this stuff, and very difficult to do off the cuff. That’s why I think the variety is great. Matt has been doing it so long that he is what he is. We know the callers are fairly consistent, so with enough people honing their verbal skills, I trust someone will hit that sweet spot I’m looking for. If someone could maintain the persona of J Snow when he gets angry, that might just work. Although it’s odd that I wish for people to get mad that often, it’s good entertainment.
Good times
Notice that he insulted the hosts for not being able to quote the verse they were talking about but when he was asked which verse he was using suddenly he doesn't know and has to ask the host to Google it for him. Every attack he makes against your argument or you personally is a direct projection of his own insecurity.
I dont like to assume projection without evidence....... Thankfully there is a huge amount of said evidence here lmao
He said, she said, god said, harry potter said, gandalf said....
Sigh.
Reminds me of a limp bizkit song. Lmfao😂
This is my first Secular Rarity video…. I like this guy
Second video for me. In other calls he is calm and reasoning. But here the caller should have been shut down faster.
I tend to read the comments first before watching any of these videos now and it saves a lot of my time. They seem to be the same time after time.
Caller: "let's use logic"
Yes, let's.
SR, you have a wonderful smile.
That's it. That's my comment.
Question: How do we know when God is actually speaking in the bible?
Answer: Because the bible says that God said it.
Ah yes, if someone says they are telling you the truth, it must be true because they are telling the truth.
Where's Matt when you need him🙂? The hosts did great...but this would have been a 3-5 minute call with Matt
"The word of God is stipulated in 4 points"
"The word of God is stipulated in 5 points"
Caller said is stipulated and not can be stipulated.
The cat is good
The cat can be good
It's a contradiction
"Lets use Logic" xD
I’ve heard this guy multiple times and his shtick has never changed
This guy is the 7 day cycle proof of god .
Yep. He can't let that argument go. He even argues with muslims about this 7 day cycle garbage.
No. He wasn't Mr 7 day cycle (Mr Delicious). That man is a Canadian. This fellow is a Black American.

How does Mr. "No Contradictions" know that anything in the bible is the "word of god"? What evidence can he present proving a metaphysical deity spoke directly to those authors?
All we get from him is outraged howls when the hosts dare to disagree with his ranting.

In the same vein i think its also important to point out that "Common Sense" isnt always right either.
The amount of justification and shifty logic in this for the sole purpose of staying in his self imposed ignorance is phenomenal.
He may be the most intelligent individual on the Earth. If only in his head
Mr. No Contradictions is the MOST contradictive caller I have heard yet!
"That's because you went to Sunday school. A true Christian keeps the sabbath."
1st, that's a No True Scotsman fallacy.
2nd, the actual sabbath, according to the old testament, is Friday night to Saturday Night (because of the lunar calendar). Not Sunday.
I guess he's not a true Christian since he's not keeping the correct sabbath.
With as many sects and branches of Christianity. everyone is simultaneously a heretic and also a saint. Everyone is a Christian and also nobody is.
I can’t help but observe that people who say the world is full of zombies tend, themselves, to behave like zombies.
Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four* ...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
So "there can be no contradiction in the word of god" seems to be the rule. therefore "if there is a contradiction it is not the unaltered word of god", seems to be the point? In which case you still have no way of determining what is the word of god, you can only tell what isn't the word of god, you've got a necessary but not sufficent criteron.
God: *Creates trillions of galaxies and city-sized neutron stars 25 times as massive as our sun.

"A lot of people are not educated my way, so they need to listen to me, NEVER argue or ask questions, and always do what I say and give me money."

You must prove a god ever said anything first
These people who use the Bible as part of their belief should know what is in it and where it is. If they don't know it then it's not a good reference for them and easily dismissed for them not doing their own homework
especially when the fucking hypocrite was so quick to shit on the cohost for not having a verse ready, on hand to rebut this gaping asshole
...For the record I'd like bonus points for compounding(?) my pun to include shit, rebut and gaping asshole...
I dont think really any Christian uses any specific thing for their belief, If they did, it would be alot easier to convince them they're wrong. The vast majority of Christians cant accurately tell you WHY they believe.
The Bible says that "God is love" and it also states that "God is a man of war." I would love for a Christian to explain how you can engage in a loving war.
God is a man o' war?
Is he portugese?
When you make a statement that should be easily proven but need 1000 caveats. 🤣
In a similar way one can't just read the bible and know exactly what it means.
there are tens of thousands of contradictions
But not if you ignore them all and if you don't know what's in there in the first place you won't be bothered by them anyway.
What I don't understand is why these clowns keep saying this crap to atheists shows. Even if there were no contradictions, so what? They think we'd accept is as "the word of god"?
Could you guys perhaps start with a question regarding what the caller hopes to accomplish with their argument? I’d bet they would say something similar to “I want to convince you that I am right and you are wrong. Here’s why …”
Most don’t present themselves well at all, as they use pseudo logic without real reasoning.
It does appear that this guy thinks that anything that agrees with his ideas is scripture, and anything that doesn't agree with him is not scripture. Sounds like good old fashioned cherry picking.
also moving goal posts when faced with the timothy verse.
There are so many contradictions in the Bible. I don’t know how they can’t see that
So there are parts of the Bible that are not the true word of God?
@@spocksvulcanbrain I see no contradiction in the first three words. "In the beginning". In more modern child stories it is replaced with "once upon a time in a galaxy far far away".

If you believe the foundation of reality is an eternal supreme creator, then you believe in a contradiction. If you believe in a just and merciful god, then you believe in a contradiction. If you believe in a god who wants to know me and stays hidden, then you believe in a contradiction.
Stop believing in contradictions and your life will be measurably better.

Isaiah 45:7 kjv:
7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things."
1 Peter 2:2-3 kjv:
"2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious."
-The word, 'benevolent' is similar to the word, 'gracious'.
The word, 'good' is similar to the word, 'benevolent'.
The words gracious, benevolent, & good are all similar.
In the book of Isaiah, the Lord creates evil.
In the book of 1st Peter, the Lord is good.
If one is the source (i.e. they create) of evil, are they good?
Nope! & I think even most Christians would agree on that.
*************************************
There is plenty of scripture that implies, if not directly declares, that Jesus Christ is Lord, & the Lord.
& yet there is also scripture where Jesus Christ speaks of "the Evil One".
Wtf???...
So if Jesus is the Lord....& the Lord creates evil....why is Jesus speaking of this "Evil One" as if its someone else??
Who made the "Evil One" evil?.....The one who creates evil, aka the Lord, aka Jesus Christ.

The reality of an infinite existence in heaven or in hell is contradictory. When joy becomes tedium and torture becomes banality the prize and the punishment reverse roles.
Been thinking that since forever.
I mean, the word eternity and forever are tossed out a lot in religious banter.
But those idiots arent using a single braincell when talking about eternity.
If you are around 40 yrs old, chances are, you are already sick and tired of most things.
Imagine living another 40 yrs and you will find it boring and will be numb to it.
That just 80 years total, not even reaching 100 yrs.
They have no idea what the concept of infinity is or what eternity is.
They just parrot what they were brainwashed with, without knowing whats coming out of their mouths.
See, he should have opened his argument with _"Amongst my criteria_ are such diverse elements as. . ." Numbering your list always leads to confusion. Isn't that right, Cardinal Biggles?
Paul said that ALL scripture is god-breathed (2 Peter 3:9). So he is saying that Paul is incorrect, which means that the bible isn't inerrant, which gives reason to question the truth of the entire bible.
