Best explanation of shots gained and the value it brings to your game improvement journey that I have ever seen. Thanks. I bought an Arccos system this winter and am very much looking forward to the snow melting so I better understand where my game measures up - and what aspects I need to work on.
I have tried Arccos 3 times now and it never works... Misses so many shots, software crashes, uses too much battery to allow full 18 holes, misses almost all second putts, the caddie function didn't work and it caused more distraction than help. It's a great concept and maybe I'll try again on the future. But for a 18 HCP it simply doesn't work well enough to justify the cost.
You need to re-post this video AFTER you have corrected the audio levels. Early on they are all over the place. The music track is consistent, but your audio clips are not balanced. Unfortunately UA-cam does not allow replacing JUST the audio, but its only been a month since posting so do it sooner than later. I just bought your system and I look forward to using it at Torrey Pines.
Thanks for explaining Strokes Gained. I just started an On-course diary when I discovered your system. Now I can stop writing down each stroke and focus on each stroke.
The Arccos Dashboard is confusing me. For example, when I click on Approach under the Player tab it gives me an option to look at "To Pin", "Rolling Hcp" and "Hcp per Round". When I look at the data for Rolling Hcp it's different than my Overall Hcp (15.5 vs 21). Why? What is the Rolling Hcp and why is it different than my Overall Hcp? Also, I changed the number of rounds used from 20 to 43 to see if that would solve the issue and it doesn't really change anything.
What if I have to do a punch shot with my 6 iron? The app will now range my 6iron to be a club that hits between 40 yds to 170. This leads to inaccurate data if we cannot tell Arccos about our half shots or different than fullswing shots. Is there a way to counter this scenario? What if I take lessons after having played 150 games and now I shoot 20yds further on everyclub? Can I reset the data or will the data take only the latest set of inputs (lets say the last 15 games or something)?
The data will filter out the outliers and give you a realistic average yardage. Also, I believe distances will be based on shots from fairway areas. As far as recent form goes, you can filter data by all time, last 'x' number of rounds and even compare last 'x' number of rounds to all-time... so you can see the improvement. For any of this to give you accurate results, you need to compile enough data... that's the hard part (kind of). It's fun to look at when you first get started, but realistically, give it about 20 rounds before you start making decisions based on what the data is telling you.
My handicap went from a 14.3 to a 9.8 in two seasons averaging 12 rounds per season using Arccos. Data tracking for insights into club selection was key for me. Now it’s time to unlock the strokes gained!
Please stop with the background music it is so distracting from your content. Take it from a professional who is in the Music Business. It will make me not watch 100 percent of the time. Please stop !!!!!!!!!
This is such a great breakdown of SGA, which can be difficult at first but is so crazy insightful when you understand it.

This is by far the best explanation of strokes gained. Bought Arccos recently and get to use it tomorrow for the first time this golf season.

Amazing video! Love your approach at this.

You can also remove that shot from the total yards calculation for that club.
I improved 10 shots in my first season with Arccos. I believe I can cut another 5 this season with the Caddie app.

I moved on after 2 minutes , do we need that much introduction before getting to the point? NO
