Beautiful! Always wondered how to make a quilt. They are so expensive to buy, especially 100% cotton ones. After watching you, I think I may give it a try. Thank You!
That's beautiful! It's a good snuggle length too. Thanks for sharing. I always struggle with the binding, so I tell them any oopsies are part of the artistic process. LOL LOL
Definitely need to try making a quilt. That is beautiful. I crochet baby blankets. Have never tried quilting, you made it look easy to me too….lol. Thank you that is a beautiful quilt, love it!
@LittleHillHomesteadGa I should have asked, but what thickness of batting do you use and does it matter on the side of quilt? At one point I collected Harley Davidson handkerchiefs and planned to make a bed quilt with them
Thank you so much for this video! I have a couple unfinished quilts (just the top side done)…one by my mom she did by machine late 60’s or early 70’s, and one from my grandmother she sewed by hand probably 40’s or 50’s. Both are hand cut triangles (no particular pattern, just simple for daily use…we didn’t do fancy back in the day lol), don't have the batting or backing, and l think they are for a full or double twin bed. Now l know how to complete them…thanks again. ❤
@ oh Missouri Star is dangerous!!! I had to unsubscribe from their UA-cam channel and the daily deal emails. I was buying way more than I can ever actually quilt 🤦🏼♀️😂
It’s very pretty. It turned out wonderful. I’m so glad you didn’t do the rainbow 🙄 I think we’ve all had just about enough of that. I love God’s rainbow, but that is not what I’m referring to. I made a blue Jean patch quilt years ago from old red tab Levi’s. It’s 30 years old and still in use. I have my grandmother’s Little Dutch Girl” pattern quilt. I have framed it in glass and reclaimed, weathered barn wood that we kept from her barn when it fell due to a storm and age. It’s now my wall art. Great video Sister❤🙏🏻❤️🕊️
@ I love it so much because she made it mostly from scrap pieces of fabric that she would stick back from clothes making. She made all the clothes for a family of nine. Two adults and seven children 😳 Dresses, shirts, skirts, coats for my 5 aunts and pants, shirts, coats for the men. Sister she even made the men suit jackets for church. She had a quilting horse frame mounted to the wall in the extra room. She called it the extra bedroom 😅but we all knew that was her sewing room. The little Dutch girls dresses & bonnets are 3 pieces of different material. From a distance looking at it, it looks like a little Dutch girl, but the closer you look at it, then you see the detail and master skill for fabric, color and design that just flows together. Each girl has different colors, styles and each one is unique and beautiful. Then stepping back each one compliments and blends with the other color scheme. I would love to be able to sew like she did. I’m too impatient I guess, I loose my way sometimes, I guess 😅 I don’t actually get lost, I just find a different way to go. Thanks for sharing ❤️😅❤️
makeitsew, I agree. I used to wash the fabric, but what a mess! Threads all over. I've been quilting about 20 years. OMG minkey is so soft, but I'd never try to quilt with it either. My local quilt shop pissed me off a couple years ago (excuse my French), I put a call in because my long arm wasn't working, and it was only a month old, that was 2 1/2 years ago, and they've still never called me back. For a few months I called to ask about the time frame, and it was April when it broke, so no big deal because I'd be outside every spare minute in the garden and riding, but seriously, they dropped the ball. I'm saying this because I discovered the wonderful Missouri Star Quilt Shop. I do wander in JoAnns, too, for different fabrics, but 90-percent of quilting cotton comes from Missouri Star. I just love Jenny and all the great videos she and her family put together.
They have a quilt called starburst I’m going to try next. I’m thinking Christmas colors. Our local shop like yours dropped the ball on me too. I paid them to fix my machine and it still wasn’t right. They closed very soon after. I am making a minky blanket with a quilted top but I plan to tie it. Sorry about your local store, stinks!
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa oooh I’ll check that pattern out! I have a bunch of random Christmas fabric and have been scouring all of my old Block magazines from Missouri Star for something that sparked interest.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa That's a nice use for minky! I had to drive an hour and a half to another place that could fix a longarm. Yes, they lost my money, and it went to Missouri!
I personally wouldn't order from Temu, they spam you and if you dig into the company you will find some sketchy stuff. They bombed me when I looked and then realized they had taken all my info and were now sending things to me on sites they shouldn't know I was involved with, creepy! Took me a bit to get my info cleared, glad I hadn't put in any orders or card info!! But you do you that's jmo. World is weird. Stay safe and In His Word. Love the Fabric and design!!
I appreciate you looking out for me! I’m glad you got everything straightened out and didn’t lose any money. I’m staying away. Holidays are coming so we’re saving all the money we can for all of that.
Hi Ali! I like the colors that you chose for the quilt. Buyer beware - TEMU prices are so good because the items they offer are knockoffs of the real thing. They unabashedly release unauthorized copies of papercraft supplies and fabrics. A lengthy, expensive legal battle is not something that most designers can afford.
Thank you! One of our kids plays a little, Shawn plays a little and I took lessons but don’t ever touch it unless I’m dusting. My grandma was an amazing pianist and sadly I didn’t get that gift.
Of course! ua-cam.com/video/8b2A2OdPA-k/v-deo.htmlsi=j8-N1BD_aHm1ZXix if you ever lose a recipe just do a search on UA-cam and throw little hill homestead at the beginning of the search. Its how I find our videos 😂
Wonderful job, Ali! Thank you for sharing.
That quilt is very pretty
This was awesome to watch it turned out beautiful. 🤗
That is such a beautiful quilt!!! 🥰
I’ve been quilting for many years I don’t pre wash 🎉 I always cut with folded fabric 👍🏻 - my rule
If it works go with it 😊 love your fabric choices ❤

The binding bunches on me too. I need to learn to use a walking foot to help that.
Such a pretty quilt!

I cannot crochet to save my life. I lose count 😂 I always say if you can sew a straight line you can quilt.
That is really pretty! Love it!🩷
I order from temu all the time. Depending on what you order of course, most of their stuff is really good quality.
I’ve always wanted to make a quilt for my bed but never knew how. Thank you❤❤❤
It is a really fun project and you will be so proud of yourself when it's done.
@ thank you. To make a bigger quilt do I just keep adding squares?
@@kimberlyburnett8553 yup! and adjust the backing material.

You’re going to love having them finished! You can totally do it.
Absolutely adorable!! Would love to see a hand tied quilt.... when you have time, of course.😀
That is a great idea, I’ll add it to my list!
Lovely!
Love it.
Whoohoo! I love fabric shopping! I love your fabric choices!
Good morning!!!! 😃
@@LittleHillHomesteadGagood morning!! By the way ironing to the dark side is to avoid seeing the dark seam so you are correct
I know, right. Although I spend a lot at Missouri Star, JoAnn's is my happy place, too.

I fully admit fabric shopping is my favorite. Which means I have way too much of it.

Yes, do not prewash, because the finished quilt will wash up the first time with a lovely quilt-y texture from that initial shrinkage.

@ haha I literally was just going thru one of their magazines from 1993!!
The reason why you press in a specific direction, is so you can nest your seams. In doing that, your corners should all line up
❤❤❤❤BEAUTIFUL BABY QUILT.
I prewash yardage - not precuts. If using dark colors I put a few stain catchers in the wash with the quilt.
It's beautiful! Great job!
I have to make an effort to go to the fabric store. I was gifted a working antique sewing machine and I’m itching to do my first project.
It’s so much fun! You’re going to love it!
The seams need to nest. One seam to right other seam to left… quilting uses a 1/4 inch seam…
