I really don't understand people in chat (looking at pocketgoblino in particular, but a couple others as well) who've obviously played the game themselves or watched a different playthrough, then pretend like it's a brand new experience so they can guide the streamer with "guesses" and pointed suggestions. It's a mystery game, figuring things out at your own pace is the entire point! Barry said at the start to keep things to yourself if you already knew the game, but even if these chatters missed that it should be common sense. There was a point where Barry was reading Lauren's diary and pocketgoblino made a "guess" about someone's relationship (I'm keeping it vague to avoid spoilers) and Barry clearly saw the guess and got confused for a bit. Then pocketgoblino said "Oh wait! Keep reading" because it turned out Barry hadn't yet scrolled down to the paragraph which would've revealed the evidence supporting that "guess". It's so frustrating! Clearly these people enjoy the game because otherwise they wouldn't be watching Barry stream it. But at the same time they're making Barry's experience worse by both not allowing him to solve things on his own and also adding to the confusion by suggesting things that don't make sense at that point in time.
This game using royalty free music means every so often I get flashbanged by a track I've heard in other indie games, and man, does it catch me out every time
For anyone wondering the art in this game isn't AI generated; apparently the ORIGINAL version of the game (a free download from idrk where) did use AI art, but for the steam released they updated it so everything is handdrawn instead. Pretty solid.
The original demo on itch was the one with ai art. The official steam release was made in collaboration with actual artists and contains no ai-generated material.
This play through was amaing! I usually throw streams on for background noise, but I was so invested in this one I attentively watched every second! Please stream the next part 🥺
I saw Barry was playing this and I checked to see if it was on Mac. I bought it because I trust his judgement, and 2/3rds in it's definitely gonna end up in my Top 10 of the year. Thanks Barry!
After watching the VOD I bought the game myself just to play through the second mystery. Even just playing through The Roottrees Are Dead already knowing the answers but choosing not to fill in any details I hadn't found a source for yet was more fun than I expected, but more to the point Roottreemania is a fantastic mystery in its own right and was definitely worth it.
1:42:00 if anyone has trouble with how the whole 1st/2nd/etc. cousin thing works, Vsauce did an amazing ~12 minute video on "How to Count Cousins" like a decade ago and it still holds up really well
accidentally losing the timestamp of where I took a break from this vod was a big mistake because finding it meant working backwards off what *I* remembered of what people were sorted out already after that information had already aged a whopping three hours (basically eternity)

I saw that, it's a lot more upsetting than it should be. Pocketgoblino and the others should back off and let Barry cook.
It’s the weirdest experience watching this and being in a frothing rage yelling “HER DAD’S NAME IS CORNWALL!”
It being a VOD means that we're Walter White screaming in the car "BARRY YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!"

I sure would hope that it has held up well, because otherwise that would imply that the concept of cousins has changed, somehow.

3:00:00 This database can interface but it can also devastate. 😆

Ain't real
Cube.
Can’t believe it was gay all along 👏👏👏
I loved this game, glad you are playing it. Shout out triple click podcast!
Twitch is a horrible experience. The app sucks. Way too many thing are interrupted with stupid noises and flashing images etc that nobody cares about
