- Ghouls are a type of enemy from a few old and recurring events. They have a chance to drop lore items on kill. This is what those strange pop-ups at the start of the quest were that looked like fragment scans. - The intended mechanic for finding the warframe traces is that they glow when you look/aim through the scanner. - Prime frames are never mechanically different than regular frames. The only difference is appearances and small improvements to some combo of health/shields/energy/armor/speed. - Excaliber's 4 is also a "gun" in the sense that it throws energy blades and is a very effective long range weapon. - Umbra is essentially a "pseudo prime" in terms of stats. Excalibur prime is exclusive to original FOUNDERS of the game, so Umbra is how DE has allowed regular players to get an upgraded Excaliber. - I agree you shouldn't call Ballas "Balls." The community already has a loving nickname for him: "Ball Ass". Very similar, but actually closer to his actual name so it's even better. - Suggestions for what to aim for next: - There's a new boss fight on Jupiter the "Ropololyst" (spelled something like that). The fight will be rough for you right now as you still haven't upgraded your tenno's "weapon" and your primary gun is close range (the Hek), but there's a LOT of lore about the Lotus/Natah in that mission. I highly suggest you either fight through it yourself or listen to the dialogue right before you run the New War as you will probably want that info before then. - You now need to get yourself a Necramech. While you're at it, I suggest working on getting the first few ranks with each of the open world factions and building yourself a new tenno amp. A "111" amp is pretty easy to get and you're safe (in terms of spoilers) to look up how to get/build that once you've gotten the Mote amp from Cetus (I forget if you've already done this yet and have simply forgotten to equip it yet). - Summary about Warframes: Ballas made them all. They are the results of culturing the "Helminth" strain of the infestation and infecting humans with it. This transformed them into warframes. So yes, every single original warframe was once human, and only a few of those were volunteers. The replicas we make are essentially clones of the original. Umbra was special though. Ballas wanted to punish the dax soldier who caught him giving secrets to the sentient Hunhow, so he modified the helminth strain to intentionally NOT destroy Umbra's mind completely but instead to force him to remember the final moments of his humanity when Ballas forced him to murder his own son. This is even more messed up when you realize Ballas was trying to force someone else to suffer through what he himself was going through. He was one of the 7 highest Orokin rulers who UNANIMOUSLY VOTED to kill his lover Margulis when she refused to renounce the Tenno. Ballas could have argued to save her. He could have voted against her execution. But instead his pride led him to kill her because she chose the Tenno over him (you heard these interactions in the prologue and start of the quest). And now he wants to blame someone else instead of himself because his own decisions hurt him and he cannot admit any fault lies with himself. This is also why he decided to "defect" and give his secrets to the Sentients. He wanted to put the blame for Margulis's death on the other Orokin and so he tried to help the Sentients win their ongoing war against his fellows.
Great tips, except I have to disagree quite strongly on the "Balls" comment. I love "Balls" as a nickname, and prefer it to Ball Ass, but maybe because I'm Australian, and "Balls" is a very Aussie nickname.
Yeah, I forgot to equip the Mote... oops. Thanks for the suggestions for before the New War, but um... It may be too late. However, I will add the bosses to my list. I totally forgot they were a thing, lol. I think this quest was the final thing that made me officially hooked on the storyline. Just the fact that Ballas is essentially a Narcissistic piece of crap and the Warframe origins being what they are is crazy. It's a huge jump from what I expected when I first started playing.
A couple things I want to point out. Firstly the Umbral and Sacrifical mods you got have a special effect where the more of them you equip at a time the stronger they become. For example, Umbral Intensify gives 44% ability strength at max rank, but if you say equip both Umbral Intensify and Umbral Vitality that 44% goes up to 55% and if you equip all 3 it becomes 77%. In fact currently your Intensify gives 30% strength and your vitality gives 73% health if you equip the Umbral version, even without ranking them up you will get almost the exact same stats. Just be wary, Umbral and Sacrifical mods are considered Primed mods which are some of the most expensive mods to rank up in the game (these are slightly cheaper since they start at rank 5, but thanks to exponential growth, those last 5 ranks are way more expensive than those first 5 would have been) Secondly, you do gain MR from Umbra and Skijati (the sword). It is automatically awarded to you upon acquiring them so you don't even have to work for it. Finally, Umbra and Excalibur/Prime are functionally identical. The only difference being some stat changes (Umbra and Excalibur Prime have identical stats), Umbra's 2 purges Sentient resistances, and Excalibur/Prime doesn't, and Umbra has a unique passive that I won't spoil. Basically Excalibur Prime (along with Lato Prime and Skana Prime) were founder items given to those who supported the game way back when. The founder packs have long since been discontinued. People were practically begging DE to bring Excalibur Prime back but they didn't want to in order to honor those who paid their support. Umbra was basically the answer to those pleas. An upgraded version of Excalibur that also doesn't diminish the novelty and rarity of Excalibur Prime.
It is awesome that DE kept a founder item specifically for certain people and didn't open it to everyone. Not many developers do that kind of thing anymore. It's also good to know because I had him on a list of primes to get which I can take him off now. With the Umbra mods, I think I kept one equipped on my Melee. I did know about the set bonus but I guess it went over my head when I looked at the stats, so thanks for reminding me.
Yes, Almost if not all warframe are transformed people, volunteers or not. Technically you're playing as a replica of the original space corpse. Also you didn't even equip the mote amp for the operator from quill onkko🙂 Also also, the choices are not really "good or bad", it's an emotional response (white) vs a cold response (black).
The fact that the Warframes are transformed people, blows my mind. I honestly was not expecting that in the slightest. It makes sense, but it is just wild.
this quest is a pain with the mote amp, doing it without the amp is just depressing, if you build even the first available amp you will never have problems again.
as always your graphics card doing something funky, idk what causes t but it's not the first time you keep getting graphical glitches like characters not being rendered and weird stuff happening
No you canonically died a lot fighting umbra. That´s a tenno´s power; you suck but reality is so broken for you that your sucking doesn´t matter pretty much. + You could have leveled the operator more :) And yeah; every Warframe´s origin is a person Mutated by the Helminth infestation. The warframes we craft are pretty much theyr DNA, Muscle memory, and personality of theyr legend. I mean, don´t you find it weird every warframe has theyr signature idles? Certain warframes, Rhino, Valkyr, jade and more even have theyr screams still. Love warframe. And i mean we literally rebuilt umbra in our 3d Printer. The quest was called Sacrifice because they literally sacrificed people to create warframes.
Man, my Tenno's lore is going to be so pathetic all because I forgot to equip my Amp, lol. Honestly, tho, I thought the Warframes were a form of technology, similar to Iron Man suits. But obviously, I was wrong.
22:23 You can tap 3rd ability to cycle the selection wheel in lower right corner. melee/range/decoy
Oh, I knew about the melee and range one, I guess I never knew about the decoy one, so that's good to know.
The AIs that came back turned the complex electronic weapons against the Orokin, so they made Infested weapons, Warframes.
Oh ok, that makes sense. It must have gone over my head during the quest, lol.
the lotus you hear at the end of mission is an AI recreation that ordis made, so no the lostus is not back
Wow, I actually didn't know there was a reason for that.

Damn, now I kinda feel bad. I will maybe be nicer to him.
@@oblivionslegacyOrdis also has some lore about how he came to be Ordis and why he's basically your best bud.
