Hallowed Be Thy Game, heads up for 2025! Bc from another video I saw of some new JRPG games that are coming soon to the Nintendo Switch, one of them is Genshin Impact! But it's still in TBA mode as for a definite release date! And suffice to say how I've been WAITING for this game as it's an upgraded version of Arc The Lad Collection on Playstation 1-2(including Twilight Of The Spirits & End Of Darkness)!
I love hidden games videos with actual hidden games, instead of "have you heard of this game called Hades?" type stuff, and there were plenty here I hadn't heard of before, so thanks.
As a long time viewer I still gotta say Ren, sometimes you choose strange games for these, but at least you always bring something I have never heard of, unlike many lists that just compile non AAA Games
About time! I've binged your hidden gems videos too many times 😅 alot of my physical collection is from your recommendations! So yes please do more of these, possibly if you can do a physical only video of hidden gems ❤
Great video! I was actually waiting for someone to talk about Saviors of Sapphire Wings / Stranger of Sword City Revisited, taboo trial and apex heroines, I think I'm buying them thanks to your video, I hope you keep going with this kind of videos of hidden gems for switch, I think it's good and in a way fresh that you talk about games with waifus and fan service PD: Do you recommend black witchcraft?
Code of Princess EX is sold physically through Nicalis’ online store. I know there’s controversy with Nicalis, but one thing they do well is restocking their games.
I hidden gem on the Nintendo DS was Izuna Legend of the Unemployed Ninja and its sequel. There's a new game in the works for that series and it's going to be on the Switch.
What!? If that's true it's about damned time! I love those games but Nintendo has gone woke, and hired DEI consultants so she probably won't look sexy anymore. Look what they did to the dragon quest remake females.🔥😡🔥
Savior of Sapphire Wings & Stranger of Sword City are also on GOG as a double pack. That's something I had no idea about until now, so I'll buy them over there.
I am a BIG fan of fighting games. I will DEFINITELY be picking Blade Strangers up. I played that Code of Princess l, cause I’m a fan of fan service. BUTTTTT, I think it’s cool that they made a fighting game out of these not so known characters. Thanks for the rec.
At 5:15 Anime Girls High School Of Dead I Found Out That When You Beat Certain levels And Unlock New Girls In The Games They Don't Wear No Panties And I'm Being Serious I Did A Video On It On My YT Channel Called Anime Girls: High School Of Dead Game Secret Character Hana Unlocked No Panties.
Nice list! I've added Omega Labyrinth on my wishlist and after seeing Taboo Trial, I'll have to make a Play Asia order it seems lol! There are a ton of games that might be considered either hidden gems or at least uncommon ones like (all have physical copies by the way): Arc of Alchemist, Aria Chronicle, Baldo The Guardian Owls, Crystal Crisis, Fallen Legion Rise to Glory, The entire Mercenaries series, West of Loathing, Shadows Over Loathing, Wallachia Reign of Dracula. All of the games I've mentioned, I had to buy them from VGP, Play Asia, LRG so not necessarily available on Amazon or retail store chains for easy purchases! Great video and keep up the good work!
This video is great. Love it when you show some love for indie games. I think all the ones I know of you've already covered in other videos such as Strikey Sisters, Cosmic Star Heroine, etc.
I'm a PS guy normally, I didn't get a Switch until last year so these videos are really helpful! I picked up Stranger of Sword City a few months ago on Vita, great little dungeon crawler, but the Switch physical double pack with SoSW goes for about triple the price currently...hoping Code of Princess EX comes down a bit too, was one of my early favs on 3DS!
red lantern was a fun game that I haven't really seen anyone talk about. The Red Lantern is a narrative, dog-sledding game about survival. You play as the Musher as she makes the rash decision to start a new life in Alaska. Along with her best friend Chomper, she assembles a dog sledding team and embarks on a journey to find her new home. Also road 96 was just a really chill choose your own adventure. This is a game you want to replay. To see all the endings.
I loved playing bunny must die and gundeadligne by platine dispositif back in the day. I didn't know about super zangura being on switch and I instantly recognized the art. Thanks alot
I'd be down for updated lists of hidden gems by genre, or physical/digital or similar ways to divide them up. As the Switch reaches the end of its life cycle it's good to have lists of games to look for.
Great list Ren! Taboo Trial has me intrigued, I'll be watching for the Switch version. I'd like to call out Phoenotopia Awakening. Great side-scrolling action-RPG inspired by games like Zelda 2 and Castlevania 2 (but more player friendly), with beautiful pixel art.
So I have a few myself: 1) Little Noah: Scion of Paradise, 2) Ender Lilies, 3) Cross Tails, 4) Front Mission 1st: Remake, 5) Any of the Story of Seasons games (almost no one but niche market talk about them), 6) Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, 7) Monster Ramcher 1&2 DX (almost know ones seems to know this exists), 8) Cassette Beasts (mostly only the monster tamer community know of it), and 9) Astral Chain (it was big when switch first released, but has fallen to time)
A great hidden gem I’ve been playing is Umbra claw by Inti Creates. It came out last month to no fan fair at all. You play as a recently deceased feline and need to escape the neither world so you can get back to your owner. Being a cat, you only have nine lives though so you gotta be careful in your escape before it’s too late. The big gimmick is that you gain new abilities and strength and even new forms as you lose lives but you may also forget what you once were and lose your way in the neither world if you lose too many.
The biggest hidden gem that Nintendo published themselves is Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. It was my favorite game released in 2023 and it is criminally overlooked.
Yes! it's a surprisingly great game with so much charm and some really good dual gameplay and fun puzzles. I think it went overlooked because of people being salty about Bayonetta 3, be it because of the ending or just the overall story, and skipped on Origins, or at least, that's what I think it didn't got nearly as much people talking about it as it could. But yeah, damn great game.
Damn, the mere mention of Hollywood Video sent shivers down my spine lol. My grandpa would always take me there on the weekend to rent a movie and afterwards we would walk around the GameCrazy that was attached to it and look at the N64 and eventually the Gamecube games that were on display. Ahhh, nostalgia. That mention alone made me subscribe lol.
Just wanted to chime in that I love these hidden gems videos, so super deep cuts are so much fun for me as I always learn of a couple games that slipped through the cracks somehow. This year, I've been focussing more on PS3 and 4 underrated games since it's been many years since I've hooked either system up, but still. Keep em coming, no matter for which system. Just this week I picked up Trapt on PS2 for instance, you might want to have a look at that one. And if you are looking for a brilliant fighting game that doesn't seem to be known very well but is insanely fun to play, have a look at Melty Blood: Type Lumina, both on Switch and PS4. The only physical releases for it are in Japan though, but they fully support English on the cart/disc.
Dungeon Munchies has maybe the best story if any game I’ve played in the last decade once it gets going, mixed with adequate Metroidvania gameplay. It’s the first thing I plan to showcase if I ever start doing Let’s Plays, but since that’s a big “if” and you just do showcases, Imma draw attention to it here
Blazing Beaks is a cheap yet fun dungeon crawler/roguelike with playable birds, each with different capabilities and starting weapons. It also has couch co-op to up to 4 players. It goes on sale often on the eshop. It does get difficult, but it's a pretty solid game
I played Murder House a few months ago and LOVED it! i will be checking out more of Puppet COmbo games in the future, didn't know it was on switch, best thing is you can play them first person or with old school tank controls, glad this made your list!
Dude. I forgot I bought Shovel Knight. I need to open it. Taboo apparently has a lot of patches making it much improved. I'm buying it for Switch this week.
You sold me on Isekai, even though the similar games you mentioned are only familiar to by name and not a huge fan of Kemco, but.. im gonna Wishlist it. As for Cynthia.. all the similar games are to my liking so going to put it up on my list too.
Blade Strangers is loved by its little niche in the FGC. At the top level, there’s some overtuned characters so competitive might be a little bad lol, but for casual fun - gameplay is really fun, easy to pick up & play, and the combos you can pull off will indeed get your caveman brain roaring
I own Stranger of Sword City digitally and Code of Princess EX physically. The 3DS version of Code of Princess is extremely rare I hear now for physical buyers and it's Switch port and Stranger of Sword City (Physically) may be too. Also, I just remembered SOSC is a game that has a lot of portrait styles, but for NPCs I think you're stuck using realistic portraits vs. anime portraits, even though in the X Box release they did years ago you could have player and NPCs be anime styled. Hey, they also have Blade Strangers on here too... Never bought it, but I definitely considered buying it.
Strangers of Sword City is a difficult experience with party members permanently deleted if they die and lose all life points. But the experience is thrilling. Cant recommend it enough for players who love a challenge and careful planning.
Unsure if this is a hidden gem or not, I rarely see people talk about it. Rabi-Ribi. It's got some insanely heavy fan service but underneath that is an utterly fantastic metroidvania, full of content that, if you really get into the hidden tech and mechanics of platforming, can be done in any order. It's by far my favourite game of all time. It's just hard to recommend normally due to said heavy fan service. Additionally, if you enjoy that, the developer has released their new game recently under a similar style, Tevi. I've yet to play that much, will do so soon. The fan service isn't as present in that one so it looks like it could be a good alternative if that was a deal breaker, though it does feel more simple mechanically so far from the early levels.
🤦 Stop the LIES. I have rabi ribi. IT DOES NOT have "insanely heavy fan service". It only has SOME here, and there. I hope your gynophobia gets cured. That or your woke.
If you're into MegaMan games the best hidden gems in order are Gravity Circuit, Azure Striker Gun Volt 1, 2, 3, luminous avenger IX 1, 2, berserk boy. Your welcome.
@@D3sdinova I agree. I would be thrilled if they would release X9 or even start doing remakes. I think they haven't because X7 and X8 when they went 2.5/3D those games kinda of flopped. So they probably don't know what route to go. I want it in the style that X1-6 was. Or the style of Metroid dread. That would be amazing. I think they can't decide so they just make the fans play old titles while they keep releasing collections.
@@IXArcanine yeah megaman is like the number one game that is just not suited for 3D. They can make it 16 bit like sonic mania, the gameplay will carry it, easy.
Evernight. I don't hear anyone ever talk this game. It's a fun Persona clone. It's relatively short. It's perverted, but not in a gross way. And it's hilarious. Any Persona fan should give it a try.
Great video! I really liked Blade Strangers. I liked Code of Princess but some of the difficulty spikes are annoying. I picked up that Anime Girls game, can't wait to try it out. I will also check out Apex Heroines.
I think Dungeon Encounters is a great game. If you're into dungeon crawling and complex but fun mechanics, I recommend it. It is super bare bones in a lot of ways, but the mechanics are the draw.
I was so hooked, I played through it twice. If they ever make a sequel, all I would add is a bit more platforming elements and maybe some timed atacks/blocks in combat. Such an overlooked gem though.
Ah, a fellow Cultured Gamer. Have fun with a ton of monster girls who want to love you to death in the first person dungeon crawler Moero Crystal H, a surprisingly deep game! (I’d also mention Seven Pirates H, but that’s a very dangerous game!) Last time I looked they were available from Playasia. Cheers!
Not gonna like when you said horizon forbidden dawn I laughed for about 7 minutes exactly 😂 but this was a good video man . I will be purchasing Cynthia hidden in the moonshadow
I still have yet to play most of these games and some of them are new to me, I'm going to have a lot to add to my wishlist! 😆I can't recommend Super Zangyura enough, everything about that game is nuts in the best kind of way and the game gives a constantly engaging challenge that makes it difficult to put down. I ranked it as #2 (only behind the Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon games, which were tied for #1) in my top 10 indie games influenced by classic Castlevania list for I Dream of Indie Games. The game really is that good. While I have started Stranger of Sword City, I put playing that game on hiatus because I found out its story is connected to Saviors of Sapphire Wings and that game is the earlier part of the story. I don't yet have Saviors of Sapphire Wings, but I have since pre-ordered the reprint of the combo release of it with Stranger of Sword City for the Switch from Video Games Plus. I really look forward to playing both of those when I get my copy, Experience makes great dungeon crawlers.
@@HallowedBeThyGame you can thank me later in your next hidden gems video. Hope you like platformers. Spirit and the mouse may also be worth a look, but havent played that myself yet. But again also physical.
OoOoOoH! CYNTHIA looks fantastic! Anime Girls: Highschool of Dead looks like ridiculous fun! And cheap? Who doesn’t like fun for cheap!? I watched @Incredible1s playthrough of Murderhouse! These games look like classic sort of 90s cheese, found footage meets slasher on your heels type fun! Love it! Taboo Trial? Huh. You have my attention! You know I love my ARPGs! Apex Heroins! Right up my alley!!! Hell yeah!!! Another fantastic list brother! As always, thanks for bringing these games to the frontlines!!!! I love it! 🌕🐺
Man thanks so much man! I'd love to hear what you think of these games if you give any a go. But dude @Incredible1s playthrough of Murderhouse was TOP SHELF! Gosh I hope he can hit up more of their games. It's so fun to watch lol.
Honestly I still like Isekai, I just avoid all the garbage ones they keep bringing out. There are some solid seinen ones I’ve been reading for a while now. Also wanted to let you know the new Mercenaries installment is coming next month, Mercenaries Lament. Loving that the games keep getting better.

Evernight. I don't hear anyone ever talk this game. It's a fun Persona clone. It's relatively short. It's perverted, but not in a gross way. And it's hilarious. Any Persona fan should give it a try.
Great video and list as always!
Glad you like them!
Great video! I really liked Blade Strangers. I liked Code of Princess but some of the difficulty spikes are annoying. I picked up that Anime Girls game, can't wait to try it out. I will also check out Apex Heroines.
Thanks so much! Psyched you enjoyed it!
I think Dungeon Encounters is a great game. If you're into dungeon crawling and complex but fun mechanics, I recommend it. It is super bare bones in a lot of ways, but the mechanics are the draw.
Is that background music part of Legend of Dragoon OST ? Sounds very familar if its not.
It is the menu music, great ear!
Hey, could you please include in the future which have physical and which are only digital?
Sure can!
Dragon Warrior 1. It's not hidden, but it was my first RPG ever from the NES. It's actually the game on my Switch with the most hours played :)
Thank you! Great list!
So happy you enjoyed it!
Monster sanctuary. LOVE that game
100%
I was so hooked, I played through it twice. If they ever make a sequel, all I would add is a bit more platforming elements and maybe some timed atacks/blocks in combat. Such an overlooked gem though.
Ys Viii Lacrimosa of Dana is a hidden gem so good I liked it more than both Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Redemption Reapers is my choice I loved playing it it stood out for me in this sea of games we have
I'm proud to still have my copy of Omega Labyrinth Life, and I have my 3DS copy of Code of Princess.
A true gamer of culture o7
@@HallowedBeThyGame yes i am.
Cheers!
@@craiganderson7986 i got Seven Pirates H when it dropped on PlayAsia and i also been playing Moero Chronicle when i got a vita from Shop Goodwill.
Did you had "metallic child" in one of your video?
maybe try Agnostiko I can't compare it with Castlevania, but if you want to play from start To finish without stress, the game is straight forward
Apex Heroines looks awesome! I might have to look into picking up that one!
It's so good! Hope you have fun with it too!
Code of Princess plays similar to the Guardian Heroes series.
The Huntdown. Go now and Huntdown the Huntdown
Woah never heard of Cynthia hidden in the moon shadow. Gonna grab it on steam deck and hope for a physical release for switch .
So hopeful it gets one. Enjoy!
I like 20XX a lot. Combining Mega Man X and roguelite is genius. I got it for free on PC in one of the epic store giveaways.
Omega Labyrinth Life is a masterpiece
I think tinykin and freedom planet are awesome games you never hear anyone about. Havent played the sequel yet though. Both are also physical.
Oooo thanks for the suggestion! Will checkout 🤘
Never heard of Cynthia nice list!
Hope you enjoy!
2 Games come to mind Yurukill The Calumniation Games & Jenny LeClue Detectivu.
The fighting game reminds me of Guilty gear. And the first horror game is like the game Alone in the dark.
Oh snap! Thanks for the reminder 🙏
So which 1 the thumbnail from?
Savior of Sapphire Wings
I hope Knight in the Nightmare which only release in JP come to global one day, I and to play again
That'd be incredible
Wait they did a Switch port of Knight In The Nightmare in JP? 😮
So…. Which game is the pic from ? Asking for gaming purposes 👀
Omega Labyrinth Life dungeon and battle system is like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 😱
But this has boobasaurs
Should look into Shiren the Wanderer too.
My deep cut is Valthirian Arc Hero School Story
My man cooking 🧑🍳
Might have to pick up blade strangers. I've been having this urge to get back into 2d fighters again.
Heck ya! Hope ya enjoy it!
