As much as I loved Samantha, I could never get over how she violated boundaries and got intimate with Charlotte's brother. I know he's grown but that's way too close for comfort imo. We wouldn't have been friends after that.
Women who knowingly sleep with married men and brag about it are so 🗑 and noooo shade but this behavior is acceptable in a certain type of community. like the youtuber Tunde was talking about how THEY go to Jamaica and the islands and sleep with random m e n and catch things. Some people have no self-respect and self-love, what and who you let into your space affects you even if people want to pretend that it doesn't and her letting that man in Charlotte's apartment was so irresponsible and reminds me of why you can't vacate with certain women
I love Samantha. She’s my favorite. BUT she was real and real ppl have flaws. Now, promiscuous ppl have some common traits: selfishness, immaturity, messiness, irrational, and a lack of self control. I’ve had many friends like this. They are SO much fun and they are SUCH a liability and they are ALL very insecure and/or sensitive about the fact that they literally use people. I’m still trying to figure out how to maintain friendships with these kind of people while also staying out of the messiness of them sleeping with the entire town, social circle, and friend group…
omg, I was tired of people defending Samantha after sleeping with Charlotte's brother saying that she was slut shamed, which is not okay but no one talks about the fact that she shows up wearing only his t-shirt like it was nothing, she has no boundaries. I was wondering why they say she is the best character because her behaviour didn't feel empowering to me in this moments, it felt so superficial. If you take away all of that, yes, she is fabulous. Anyways, all of the characters have their own flaws, that's what makes it interesting to watch.
I'll tell you one thing, Charlotte was way nicer than I would have been in that situation, she was really about to go into detail about what she did with her brother- everything Charlotte said was facts! she slept with half of NYC. idc if it's a man or woman I would be embarrassed to be seen with someone like that
I agree with your points, I would like to add that I feel Samantha treated Miranda and Charlotte the way she did because they're not her actual friends, they're her friend's friends. She only hangs out with them because of Carrie (Carrie is friends with the 3 of them that's why they're super different from each other and don't really agree on things all the time) so she didn't think she needs to act a certain way especially since she doesn't really approve of the way both of them live.
I just finished the series today. This came in perfect timing esp cause I’m sad it’s over. I went backwards seeing the movies first and also season 4 so the Aidan/Carrie stuff then finally the entire show from season 1 to end in its entirety.
When it comes to kids I feel like depending on if I have kids or not I’ll more than likely have friends that either have kids or not just because I know how I am. I don’t want to be around kids all the time and I wouldn’t want to do that to others. I wouldn’t make my friends feel bad for having a child though.
I love Samantha, but she had a lot of toxic ways. I don’t get what was supposed to be so “empowering” about a woman sleeping around any and every time 🙄 She’s the type of friend who can’t have fun unless there’s a man around somewhere. How is that empowering? When you’re always talking about and wanting attention from men, she was a grown adult who acted like a boy crazy teenage girl, that gets tired after a while. I like how she was straight forward with her friends and she really loved them and was there for them. Charlotte was the empathetic and sensitive one even if she was dramatic sometimes lol
Thank you! She’s fun but definitely not perfect . People were mad about that one episode where she was sick and despite her many partners had no one willing to help her while she had the flu. That’s the reality when you’re making shallow connections. It’s fine if you want to do it but don’t be surprised that you won’t find any genuine connections. Also it’s not cute to disregard other people’s relationships and sleep with taken men. She learned the hard way because when she got cheated on she didn’t brush it off she was broken. She is fabulous and fun but not a role model. Also not judging can be good but there are times when you need to call out your friends. Excusing Carrie cheating wasn’t a good friend move. It would be better if she said hey you’re choice but it’s wrong. Instead she was like Carrie you’re totally right which is not good. Then the way she acted with Charlotte was just selfish. You can’t for two seconds wear something normal for a friend’s wedding. It’s not always about you lol and she was just mean to Miranda after she had the baby. I’m glad she learned but these things show that she’s not perfect
From my understanding, much of SATC was written by a gay man...and Im pretty sure many of the characters (and situations they find themselves in) were based off of the gay men he knew. As a member of the 🏳️🌈 tribe myself, behavior like Samantha's is common amongst privileged, good-looking gay men. The rest of us out here fighting for scraps 🤷♂️
In hindsight, it was the first show to display casual sex as normal. Culturally the reception was “empowering” for the women who felt guilty about desiring sex. Back then it was different. The first episode is a great example of that. So it’s less about tryna fuck anything & more about how polarizing it is to see a woman do what “men do”. Samantha sure was messy though!
Samantha was a mess (all of them were) The only thing that saved her was the charisma of the actress. She was clearly a sex addict, insensitive or outright rude to any woman living a traditional lifestyle, pouted and ran any time someone called her on her behavior (like sleeping with her friend’s brother or Carrie having to walk in on her showing a complete stranger a good time in her unlocked office) she slept with married men, and SA’d a masseur then outed him for a consensual moment he had with another woman, potentially getting him fired (as if SAing him wasn’t enough,) and the next day she has the nerve complain to Carrie at an event that the man she SAd owed her OS. And she cheated on Smith who was nothing but good to her and later dumps him using the same line she used with Richard.
Omg this is such a refreshing view on these characters. It’s a trend now to only criticize Carrie and praise Samantha when there’s a lot of flaws to Samantha a good qualities in Carrie.
Thank you, for pointing out the insecurities. I always really like Samantha, but if you're being real no one can sleep around that much and actually be okay mentally. I worked in bars and marketing in bars for 15 years, I have met girls with body counts that are astronomical. They were totally insane. Can anyone honestly say they've ever met anyone like Samantha in real life? I'm not s*** shaming ladies, I'm just saying it's a little unrealistic. Even a man that f**** around that much, isn't okay. I know, cuz I've met those men too LOL
TBH, I don’t think it fit Samantha and Miranda’s characters to have her apologize. They are both women who avoid vulnerable emotions, but her giving up that coveted hair appointment was a big act of kindness that I am sure Miranda would have preferred to an apology coming from Sam. Contrast that to when she had to apologize to Charlotte for sleeping with her brother and you see how she is very intentional in how she treats each one of her friends. LOVE. HER 🤍
I love Samantha though I just hated how she always coddled Carrie. When she "didn't judge" Carrie for having an affair, I thought that was so wrong. You're supposed to hold your friends accountable for the messed up shit they do!
Miranda was always doing stuff that made her miserable and then acted petty and annoyed about it as if it weren't her own decisions. She was funny but honestly such a victim always being all woe me, that's why I think her and Carrie was the most realistic friendship lol. Like she clearly didn't respect or truly love Steve either yet as soon as she saw him with someone else she just had to have him back, then whined about her shitty life with him... Like girl please...
And? What's wrong with that? She chose herself. The pool has slim pickins at this point. She may find the one tomorrow, new week or next year. It's her choice.
@ because the reality is when you keep choosing yourself you find yourself alone. She has slim pickings because she couldn’t get what she wanted. I understand sometimes you have to pick yourself and that this healthy, I’ll never deny that. But what I’m trying to say is the way Samantha is is incredibly toxic. The show stops short at the reality that many people like this will end up alone. The friend I was referring to was actually a gay man who had money, lost it all, and now works as a grunt refusing to do better for himself. He was PRIMA and everything designer, hard working, and incredibly self centered. He even apologized the same way Samantha did. Shocker, he never liked Sex in the City haha! I pray he finds inner peace and I pray that women like Samantha find peace too. Those traumas of never having enough of x y and z do mold you into the type of person you become.
Copyright, you can’t play full clips of the show or your videos will be hit with a copyright strike, it can only be shown to be for few seconds and no one is going to edit and create videos for hours and days just for the video to get a strike.
@@brijmsn there’s a certain amount of time you can play certain clips, like if it’s a very popular episode also the show, movie, artist etc. can come months later and copyright claim one of the clips. She spoke about it when she did her Clueless video (that she did twice and had to remove) she had the video up for a whole year and then they put a copyright claim over it. Some people aren’t going to put all of that work into editing a video just for it to be taken down just because you want to watch clips of the show playing.
I didn't like Samantha. I didn't like her affected, phony way of speaking. I didn't like her shallowness, her elitism, her materialism, her open contempt for people who don't have looks, money or social status, or how little qualms she has about hurting people's feelings. She would often lie and manipulate to get stupid little things- like using her client's name (Lucy Liu) to get an Hermes bag for herself, and using a stolen membership card to get into an elite club to use the pool- then couldn't woman up and accept accountability when she got busted. I don't see her as particularly empowered- she might not have required a man's company or affection, but her entire sense of self worth relies on male validation, and without it, it completely crumbles. All it takes is a suspicion that perhaps men might not want to fuck anymore to reduce Samantha to a pathetic, blubbering mess. She avoids intimacy not because she is independent, but the opposite- she cannot love a man without losing herself in the process, and it's not even the man who is really to blame for it, it's just her. Still, I think what you say about her is fair. I don't like Samantha as a character or Kim Cattrall as a person, but all the same, the way her character was written out was not true to the character we'd known, even at her worst.

Hiperindependence is a truma sign of a neglected childhood, being childfree is a direct reslt of being parentified and neglected as a kid. Excellent analysis!!
You gave so many needed and important points about Samantha. Points i never gave thought too. I love these videos.
As much as I loved Samantha, I could never get over how she violated boundaries and got intimate with Charlotte's brother. I know he's grown but that's way too close for comfort imo. We wouldn't have been friends after that.
And that's why people went cray-cray when Kim Katrall made that cameo appearance in And Just Like That
Damn. We needed more time. 😫
Samatha is a real one she was always tell how it is and will always be there for you and not judge you
Women who knowingly sleep with married men and brag about it are so 🗑 and noooo shade but this behavior is acceptable in a certain type of community. like the youtuber Tunde was talking about how THEY go to Jamaica and the islands and sleep with random m e n and catch things. Some people have no self-respect and self-love, what and who you let into your space affects you even if people want to pretend that it doesn't and her letting that man in Charlotte's apartment was so irresponsible and reminds me of why you can't vacate with certain women
Girlllll I saw that video and when I tell you I was shocked and disgusted...just nasty work lol that's why you can't just be friends with anybody
factssssssss
@@beautelle1065 I agree! And these then these be the same women that go around hollering, “women empowerment” and women should be sticking together.
this is such a balanced take, i love it
I love Samantha.
I always loved Samantha ❤❤❤
Gotta do one on Sam's fashion
I'll tell you one thing, Charlotte was way nicer than I would have been in that situation, she was really about to go into detail about what she did with her brother- everything Charlotte said was facts! she slept with half of NYC. idc if it's a man or woman I would be embarrassed to be seen with someone like that
Samantha is Angelica from Rugrats all grown up.
I love this series,You got going on talking about sex in the City because your depiction of the characters is spot on!!!
Put samantha and toni childs in a room together
toni gon hurt her feelings omm
Or Samantha and Blanche from The Golden Girls
@@ameyahcarter118 I disagree. Toni was the more insecure person. I think it's the other way around.
When it comes to kids I feel like depending on if I have kids or not I’ll more than likely have friends that either have kids or not just because I know how I am. I don’t want to be around kids all the time and I wouldn’t want to do that to others. I wouldn’t make my friends feel bad for having a child though.
When Samantha said “Shitty pants can’t come,” I died!!! 😂😂😂
11:26 nahhhh we forget Samantha slept with Carrie's love interest in the first season too. That was even worse. So meesy.
??? Can't remember. Who was it?
@BlueJeansTarot go rewatch the first couple episodes
She was the only character I FW!!
The library is OPEN.
THAT PARTTT!!!! Because who is exactly gaining from this? It's reckless and an excuse for people who have no self-control
@@beautelle1065 Men gain from it and it’s nothing but a false sense of “empowerment”. They’re not going to say “oh no don’t sleep with us” lmao
Please do a video on Edie Britt from Desperate Housewives 🙏🏿
This is spot on
Omg this is such a refreshing view on these characters. It’s a trend now to only criticize Carrie and praise Samantha when there’s a lot of flaws to Samantha a good qualities in Carrie.
Can you do a video on Insecure cast characters?
Good discussion, haven’t watched this movie but I might check it out! ❤️❤️❤️
Samantha Jones 🌟🌟🌟🌟
TBH, I don’t think it fit Samantha and Miranda’s characters to have her apologize. They are both women who avoid vulnerable emotions, but her giving up that coveted hair appointment was a big act of kindness that I am sure Miranda would have preferred to an apology coming from Sam. Contrast that to when she had to apologize to Charlotte for sleeping with her brother and you see how she is very intentional in how she treats each one of her friends. LOVE. HER 🤍
My 2 favorites are Samantha and Charlotte 💖💖💖
Samantha had mother issues.
I always felt like Sam was in the wrong group of friends. She deserved friends, not 3 women trying to be what they'll never be.
I feel so called out right now. 😅
I love Samantha though I just hated how she always coddled Carrie. When she "didn't judge" Carrie for having an affair, I thought that was so wrong. You're supposed to hold your friends accountable for the messed up shit they do!
Samantha hands down my fave BUT I did always wonder babe. What are you gonna do when you’re like 75? What a sad elderly life
TBH miranda shouldve never had that baby...it was so odd
Miranda was always doing stuff that made her miserable and then acted petty and annoyed about it as if it weren't her own decisions. She was funny but honestly such a victim always being all woe me, that's why I think her and Carrie was the most realistic friendship lol. Like she clearly didn't respect or truly love Steve either yet as soon as she saw him with someone else she just had to have him back, then whined about her shitty life with him... Like girl please...
Especially since Brady is so damn annoying now. Send him back!
I had a friend like this but they chose themselves. They are almost 40 now with no prospects.
Can you please do videos on

Why do the clips keep freezing?
Copyright, you can’t play full clips of the show or your videos will be hit with a copyright strike, it can only be shown to be for few seconds and no one is going to edit and create videos for hours and days just for the video to get a strike.
@@Princessdollamanda How come every other youtuber can play a full scene without a strike?
@@brijmsn there’s a certain amount of time you can play certain clips, like if it’s a very popular episode also the show, movie, artist etc. can come months later and copyright claim one of the clips. She spoke about it when she did her Clueless video (that she did twice and had to remove) she had the video up for a whole year and then they put a copyright claim over it. Some people aren’t going to put all of that work into editing a video just for it to be taken down just because you want to watch clips of the show playing.
I have to disagree that she's insecure, she def has himan weaknesses but is the least insecure of all the lead characters. She is unapologetically her
I watch all these sex and the city breakdowns yet I have no desire to watch the show lol
Samantha was really annoying with how addicted she was to sex.
Darling you are so wrong about Sam she is only unsupportly
Samantha was for the streets 😓
They all were if we're going to keep 100.
I think Samantha's character was a sex addict
