Please use chase cam when manually bombing, and just take your hand off the mouse. Up/down arrow keys will adjust the angle of your view, but the chase cam (default key: c) is vastly superior to your method. Then use the hotkey to drop the appropriate munition (bombs are 2, drop all is always 7. Torps are 4) Last tidbit: for a dead in the water target, use those torps at long range. Look up their range on the ship/air recognition list and launch at 90% of their max range so you can avoid more of the AAA.
"We are quite close to them... quite close!" map: the japanese convoy just crossed forwards of TF Python's line with no shells exchanged, continue going for 4 squares and then be spotted by the Python what a funny game
@20:46... Japanese Light Cruisers also have scout planes. Particularly the Kuma and Nagara classes; 1 scout each. @33:40... You should have gone with 500lb SAP bombs. The 250s lack the _punch._ Great attacks though! Just needed a bigger hammer.😁 GREAT torpedo attack! Excellent episode. _suggestion..._ Bring Houston's TF up, rearm them at Surabaya, and join them with Exeter's TF. Then go after the remaining Japanese Light Cruisers and Destroyers. Link Yarra up with a Supply Convoy to add more Anti-sub protection. Any ship alone is vulnerable!
>Be Wolfpack >Sink 70-something Japanese ships in less than two months with a ragtag force of misfit ships and aircraft, single handedly bringing the entire Japanese offensive to a screeching halt >Meanwhile, way the hell out at Pearl the entirety of the Pacific fleet are sitting in port sunbathing and drinking daiquiri's
@Wolfpack345 When your skip Bombing wouldn’t it be prudent to max the speed on them after they drop the bombs because you never have or very rarely do which means the planes take fire for longer leading to losing more of them or even have them max speed from before they come under fire in the first place.
Awesome video, on that bombing run vs the heavy cruiser, 2 of your planes actually slammed into the ship as they were flying over, talk about giving it your all o7 brave pilots
The bridge is just where the helmsman is ... conning the ship. The CIC, the nerve centre and brain of the ship, where all the informations come into, is not up there ...
Love the series man! Keep it up! On a side note I've noticed you've kept the ships in your task forces somewhat historical and Id love to see USS Boise in the theatre (though she was historically released January 21st, 1942. But clearly the ABDACOM forces winning is just as ahistorical as her participating ;) ) I also would like to see a Taskforce "Viper" as it sticks with the serpentine Taskforce theme
I love when you play mods and play as allies. I really enjoy your commentary and gameplay and editing. Your my favorite war on the sea youtuber. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into thr videos. 👍💯
Always good play here and reasonable decisions. I have been viewing several other individuals playing this mod- and they make me appreciate your narration and editing. Especially the good editing. I would like to see a Midway campaign in WOS.
I'll be expecting messages to the families of the crew of that Hudson which crashed into the heavy cruiser! Seriously though great video as always. Makes me want to pick up War on the Sea at some point
If anyone is interested, the "History With Hilbert" channel uploaded a video last Saturday about Netherlands submarines in the ABDACOM area of operations. It includes some good individual boat histories.
Do De Reuter and Sumantra actually have sonar and radar? I noticed that they look like older ships, and the little button (looks like radar) doesn't show up on them. They may not have equipment to detect torps themselves, and Sumatra might have been too far from the others for their sonar to detect the torps. Just a thought
ABDACOM uses the kamikaze before it was cool but that was an amazing attack with the M139s the one that crashed into it lol and the Hudson that let’s say honourably crashed his stricken aircraft into the heavy cruiser
"Yugumo class is still out in force, unfortunately..." Actually, allow me to brighten your outlook. The Yugumo-class was a wartime class, so by this point in the war (29 March 1942), only three of the twenty (Yugumo, Makigumo, and Kazagumo) were in service. The next one (Naganami) wouldn't enter service until 30 June 1942.
I'm hooked. I need a new video almost every 2 days, otherwise I'm going through withdrawal. Love all your other videos as well, but these are really, really well done. (And you should add at least 1 more sub, even if it's just for screening purposes...)
Nice, one thing I've asked myself in multiple episodes is why you always turn into the torpedoes? Even when there is "enough" room, don't you create more options if you turn away from them and give yourself more time that way? You do 'leave' the fight that way, but nothing a 360° can't fix.
I was watching some other guys play through and I think that torpedo boats could be useful for providing extra firepower (via torpedoes) to your battle groups. Lot of bang for their buck (1 command point)
In my experience they die way too quickly to pretty much everything. Unless you use them with a fleet of capital ships that can take hits, they'll get gunned down long before they are in range.
Lol, it's okay, actually, if you cannot spell Tjilatjap because it is an old Indonesian word. Now it is called Cilacap (All the Tj replaced with C), so you can just say Cilacap. It's still the same city.
That one flight of bombers spent a long time circling down within range of the enemy AA. Heading away from the target while dropping down would have reduced the time they spent in AA range.
Something intresting i noticed on the Clemson destroyers, if you look directly behind the front gun you can see hedgehogs there, wonder if they will add them to the game at some point?
Good gracious me! You have popped up and both your battlegroups have been busy 9 Destroyers of the IJN sunk or severely damaged at the cost of one light cruiser damaged! Make that 6 sunk and 3 damaged. You have caught up with the last two Destroyers and doing the business.
Furutaka is more of a light cruiser disguised as a heavy cruiser, but with the limited number of ships available to the player, I would also avoid a surface battle with them. Also, since Furutaka had already taken critical damage, she couldn't take any more damage from bombs, the only thing missing was flooding and torpedoes would be better suited for that.
I have a feeling that at this point Admiral Yamamoto is yelling “I told you that we have awoken a sleeping giant!” In addition I bet the army is about willing to replace Yamamoto (as they have primacy) with either Nugumo or Kondo Although after O-19 sunk Hiryu Nagumo is probably trying to keep Akagi out of the line of fire So who’s the southern force commander at this point? Kondo Ozawa Or kurita? Either way unlike actual history the ABDCOM has excellent recon, coms and air superiority (somehow!?) and is certainly keeping Japan from “coming south”
Judging from the last episode and this videos intro, Hawker Hurricanes are the superior bombers. Retire all of your twin engine bombers as soon as possible or at least delegate them to training duty.
Why not set up 2 supply chains one between Darwin and the closest port to the right of Java and the second from that same port to rest of your ports would shorten the time between suppling the farthest ports? @Wolfpack345
Just looking forward to your next part. I think Summatra will be replaced by Java and you could be adding some more escorts to both Battlegroup Python and the Convoy. I favour you getting some MTB's as well. I think that you're going to come very close to getting either HMS Warspite or HMS Hermes.
im only familiar with IJN ships from WoWS.. the later more advanced destroyers were no joke. I think you need to take those a bit more seriously moving forward. Especially the range of those torps.
18:57: ... you've sunk the _Asashio_ four times. Not four _Asashio_ DDs, the IJN _Asashio_ specifically. Four. Times. WTF. Including twice on the same day (which apparently was the fight referenced in the intro). Did one of the updates give the IJN necromancy?
I’m trying to play this same mod but I keep running into a glitch where aircraft don’t RTB and then that airfield becomes no longer usable. I just launched a carrier as well. Besides all that I love this campaign
Does this game have kamikaze attacks at all? I know planes can strike ships when they get shot down, but does the AI ever do it on purpose? And can you do it on manual, or is the minimum altitude level too high for that?

Damn, wiping out an entire class of ships is no mean feat even if it's just destroyers. If only irl ABDACOM is this competent.
Always a highlight to have another episode of this campaign come out!
Agreed look forward to it every week
Yes, I’m watching you and Wolfpack run through the game both LOL, you both have good content, you deserve more subs.

What do you think the Pacific fleet is supposed to do, with no ships (afloat) left? Sunbathing on submarines?

the 250lbs bombs are for transports and DD, those Hudsons would have been more effective with fewer, larger bombs.

If your ships are being annihilated like this you need air cover and a submarine running with you

Love this, but MOAR U-BOAT!
Ever hear of the Black Cats ? These were Catalina Flying Boats with Torpedoes.
Very good episode, but it does underscore the utility of using 250 pound bombs against anything bigger than a subchaser.
those torpedo hits were brutal
The japanese will be shocked that the allies will kamikaze themselves into their ships🤣🤣
