    "William Worden’s model of grief uses an acronym ‘TEAR’ to describe his four ‘tasks’ of grief

    the song was written by the rap line of BTS (RM, Suga and J-hope) The lyrics symbolizes what a breakup means to each, it was tears for RM, tearing apart for Suga and for J-hope it was fear
    Suga about Outro:Tear
    --> ‘The lyrics were written for the members; when I was writing the melody, at that time, we were contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members, we all cried together’

  • @HippieWings
    @HippieWings 2 роки тому +70

    Not sure if others already wrote this, but Outro: Tear (the song) came out on the album Love Yourself: Tear on May 18, 2018. Later that same year, on Dec 14, 2018, during the MAMA Music Awards show, Jin revealed in an acceptance speech that BTS had almost broken up at the start of the year, so Jan 2018(?). I just thought you might find that tidbit interesting in light of your analysis. Of course the words would have been written well before Jan 2018; it's a sentiment would have been festering awhile as expressed in the lyrics as well.
    In the video link I share here, at the 6: 45 mark or so, Jin starts his acceptance speech if you are curious. The others alluded to the hardships and it's quite emotional, but he spills that they had considered disbanding and shocked the entire fandom. ua-cam.com/video/vOdYb3rgu0A/v-deo.html
    Another BTS song that would work thematically would be the lyrics of Black Swan. I'd love to hear you read aloud the lyrics from the DoolSet translation website and react to that song.

    • @carriekintz7
      @carriekintz7 2 роки тому +2

      DoolSet’s translations are amazing. So much context and explanation. It makes the songs mean so much more to get some of the cultural context and history. Can’t recommend them enough.
      Also - this is up there as my favorite Rap Line song, for so many reasons. (It’s tied with 땡 (Ddaeng).)
      The word play, the heartbreak, the frustration, the anger. It’s such a honest reflection of where they were and Suga, RM, and J-Hope managed to express it so clearly. And the fact that they were vulnerable enough to share it is special. BTS connects with emotions and feelings and ideas and helps their listeners sit with them in it. So many of us have felt this way, but to hear it in a song, know it’s based on reality… it’s the kind of song that helps people feel understood.

    TEAR is one of the BTS songs that cuts me deep. The 3rd verse when he says A thing like a tear is a luxury, he talks about you're slowly cutting out his heart and then the verse ends, Why are you hesitating? Suga has painted such a vivid picture to the Pain. I can visualize in my head the argument.
    Then he says; This is the ending you wanted, so I hope you kill me without hesitation. Burn it! Burn it! Burn it!

  • @ericweinman9447

    I think it is fair to say that much of the stress that led to BTS members having to reevaluate their careers came from the exponential growth of their popularity and the unanticipated demands this placed on them. Their original Idol platform origins did not predict worldwide large arena then stadium concerts with millions globally having constant eyes and opinions on them. Even Big Bang, the previous 2nd generation group which started moving in true global directions took step back periods to rejuvenate. So disbandment due to pressure was on the table for BTS which had different members managing the pressures differently. But BTS members had been trained to talk things out and come to solutions. All were able to evaluate the future, whether they could continue the evolving project with the kind of group and individual joy which was necessary. Outro: Tear reflects on the deepest emotions that were involved with that process: sadness, the sense of things being ripped apart, and fear of the consequences. BTS is number one because they consistently share whether emotions or messages. Outro: Tear is one of those cases where they share something both personal and difficult.

    Suga and RM made this song, Suga has said he's a big fan of Hans Zimmer. He has included Time by Hans Zimmer (from Inception) on his playlist. The instrumental of Outro: Tear reminds me of a Hans Zimmer-esque composition.
    pretty much nobody gets it on their own, but the word "tear" is used in 2 ways: as in crying, and as in ripping/tearing apart. RM and Suga pronounces "tear" differently if you listen closely.
    "why does it flow?" (crying tears)
    "why does it get torn?" (tearing apart)

    Btw, I love your explanation. Yes they won lots of daesangs at that time. At that point, they were entering the US market and their contract was coming to an end. The pressure was too much.
    I don't think this was just about BTS's relationship falling apart because they couldn't stand each other and I do not think that's a point they reached.
    They said that the pressure became a lot.
    This is my personal theory regarding this song:
    Suga really really loves music. "Eat, sleep, work" BTS and army knows how much he does. I think this song is about their friendship and their love for music. Mostly Suga's love for music.
    How much pressure is it when you r doing something you love?
    Breaking up BTS just because they were scared or the pressure was too much. Did it mean they wouldn't do music anymore? Could they leave music after giving up BTS and their closeness, maybe not their friendship but with their sufferings and how far they had come, and their dreams not being fully accomplished.
    Suga was good at doing tricks before BTS, he just didn't like dancing. In addition, he had an accident where his shoulder was crushed while doing his delivery job. For him dancing was very difficult and he went through the pain. When talking about pressure, he was going thru ocd, social anxiety, depression, and that was a whole lot of pressure.
    For him, music is his escape. At that point, it just wasn't music anymore that was his escape or that would draw him from that place, but BTS.
    His line that goes- Take it easy, scoop my heart out slowly, shatter it fragments. Burn it until nothing is left- is so poignant.
    According to them, going on a vacation together, and having time to think everything over really helped. According to Jimin, a whole year. They resigned their contracts and continued as BTS and I'm glad that they had.

    BTS doesn't collaborate much....they compose their own songs.....each member contributes either as a writer, producer and or composer. Labels jst help them to reach their goal and how they want a song to be the rest is jst BTS......

      okay, I skipped ahead and I am enjoying you talking about classical music, but you threw me off at the beginning of the video because, honestly is so boring to just listen to the song again, I want to hear your thoughts that's why I clicked on the video. Sorry, I know I sound really whiny, but for real, any other day I would've just closed the video.

      I'm glad I kept on watching, you know, Suga verse really hits me hard, but I think you are right, this song must've felt super therapeutic to them, sometimes we just need to vent out our frustrations and be honest with our loved ones about our feelings.
