89 is good for a full blown diabetic!!
With Harvey and Tim breaking everybody up I don’t see how anything got 🎞 filmed!🤣
In the dentist 🦷 skit after many takes they just let Harvey laugh and printed it!!
Search it and see what I mean!!
In a tie for best skit Jack Benny is followed to his vault by a thief with a gun.
The thief put the 🔫 pistol on his back and said: You’re 💰 money or your life!!
(Loooong pause) Jack said: I’m thinking
I’m thinking!! Followed by three minutes of loud laughter!! Search it !!

My favorite movie is Annie and that was a great movie 🎥 she was in but by far I do miss is her show I grew up on her sketches and her comedy but I found her show on UA-cam, she's is a treasure just like Betty White Bob Hope and Lucille Ball ❤️ I don't really think 🤔 that Carrie"hated"her mom she was letting off some steam getting turned around and off drugs is hard most families are like that

Carol is one of the few actresses that I truly admire. I have loved her in everything I've seen her in. From her own hit show to Mama's Family to Annie, Carol Burnett is a national treasure. I had known about her daughter Carrie's struggles with addiction and her later fight against cancer but I didn't know that her second daughter had fought similar demons in addiction as well.

Great memories of my Mom and I watching this show every Saturday night at 10pm. We laughed so hard. My mom passed away in 2009 and I still watch old reruns on MeTV. Just hearing the orchestra start up at intro and at the end takes me back to those fond times.

I, too, remember and look back with such fondness upon so many family nights, when I was still in high school, and beyond, the closeness I felt watching TV with my Mom (and Dad)---it was a very warm and special feeling. Saturday night was always Carol Burnet----and do you remember the Sid Caesar show every Sat? He made us howl with laughter. I enjoyed reading your memories. Lynn :-)

@@lhasalynn2091 I don't remember Sid. But I can tell you relate to what I wrote. Different times with family unity. Families were so much more into making good times. The foul language I hear when walking my dogs is so disappointing to hear. They are not teaching their children right! No wonder teens are extra violent these days. They learned it and it's a shame. Thanks for replying! That seldom happens. God bless you. We live in perilous times just like the Bible describes.

@@joycebrackbill-henderly8311 Thank you for your lovely response----I was delighted to read it! I am obviously more of an 'old soul', if I remember Sid Caesar----you so rarely find comedians anymore who excel in hand-written short sketches like he did. My Dad had the great old NYC sarcastic sense of humor (which his twin daughters inherited "Thanks Dad!")----and Sid Caesar made him laugh more than any other comedian! He was so original! And---yes---re children's 'chatter": I live in Manhattan on the Upper West Side---a bustling but basically quiet, entertaining area, one block from green, leafy Riverside Park and the Hudson River. (Never experienced any violence in my life!) And my humor can be very off-beat----so I always remind my visitors not to be puzzled by our very good-natured sarcasm!! At any rate, I cannot BELIEVE the way kids talk today----sooooooo differently from when I grew up in the 50's and 60's! (And the way they speak to their parents!!! They would have been 'swatted around' growing up in our family of five!) Anyway, I do have a great time remembering so well and find it a lot of fun recalling those 'good, old days;'. Wow----never thought I'd be old enough to say THAT! :-) All my best to you and your family, Lynn :-)

I remember watching her show as a teenage girl, babysitting on Saturday nights, when my well-off friends were free to go on dates, while I needed every penny for school clothes, shoes, bus fare, and school supplies. What a night Saturday was back then. Mary, Rhoda, Phyllis, and Carol. Truly a ladies night! I adored Harvey Korman, of course, and later Tim Conway, and I wished I was old enough to date the most gorgeous man in the world, Lyle Waggoner. Vicki Lawrence made me think of the kind of cranky old lady I might one day be--"Well how the hayull should I know!"

However, in those days everyone kept quiet and never spoke about family problems. I know what you mean; sometimes, I think that very same dynamic is at work between mothers and their gay sons as well. All my life, I just could not figure out why I could easily make friends and begin what seemed like great relationships, but they would eventually fall apart, sometimes quickly....almost as soon as they met my mother. What I didn't realize, of course, until one of these people were brave enough to tell me, was that my mother was calling them, their extended family members, etc., behind my back, and telling them TERRIBLE things about me, some of the most vicious lies I've ever heard! For YEARS, I couldn't understand why, but quite often, people would simply say, "Because she's JEALOUS of you." Well, that's just insane to me, but after I saw an expensive therapist for about 6 mos., she said, "Well, I usually see this issue between mothers and their daughters; in any case, you are not the problem here, I'd really like to meet your mother." I thought to myself, Oh, I'm so bad off, she can't tell me, she has to tell my mom instead. She finally met her, then set a time for me to come back in, with my mother, unbeknownst to me, present as well. She told her that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and that if that happened, "it's ALL going to be on YOUR shoulders, NOT his!" I'm absolutely not saying that this was/is the same dynamic at work with all of these other mother/child situations, but that's what was going on in my case. HOW can a parent be SO insanely jealous of one of their OWN KIDS? I think I was resented, in my case; my parents "had" to get married, and my mother absolutely hated my dad, hated him, and she made no secret about this.

When an addict has their child removed to foster or another family member, they go through great lengths to make the new surrogate parents life miserable, and in doing so, they make their own childs life miserable. I know from personal experience, it takes years for the addicted parent to finally "forgive" or even get to speaking terms with the one they "think" took their child on purpose. They usually do not take personal responsibility.

@@Garkenrat Really, a boarding school is temporary, and the children go home often. Plus, it is a stable, educational routine structured environment. That is the type of lifestyle most rich people tend to uphold.
There are millions of people who had great lives who also went to boarding school.
Now, not all had such lives, but ask the rich and wealthy if they are always so mad at their parents for providing them with a good roof and education and meeting others who became lifelong friends.
A drug addicted mom would have destroyed that child or near enough. Carol Burnette was already fully immersed in contracts in multimedia. So are you saying she should have broken all her contracts, and made others lose their jobs and income to stay at home to raise her daughters child?
I can only imagine it would not have bothered you if the Dad had been in a viable workforce with employees you would have never suggested he was neglectful by sending the boy to boarding school.
Double standards are alive and well.

    • @coolwater55

@@Garkenrat I know a lot of poor to middle class people and more who did the best they could, and still their children DECIDED to become addicts, in spite of the education about drugs and alcohol. It is always a PERSONAL choice to imbibe in drugs that alter the brain.
Yes, some parents, rich, poor or otherwise are neglectful, but providing a safe place to live and an education, as well as being able to see children often, is not a bad life. Millions did ok by it.
btw, Carol was in her 80's when having the responsibility of her grandson, so are you saying you could easily raise a child and teenager in your 80's?

Who didn't live a difficult and dysfunctional life? Most do in one way or another. My parents suffered tremendously during their youths as my grandparents tried their best to keep them alive during the drought in South West USA, The Great Depression and WWII. At least Carol had food in California and went to weekly movies. I never heard her say she gave up food or shoe rations so siblings could eat OR attend school. Then there was the HUGE gift of a five year interest free loan to travel to New York. She got "breaks," believe me.

I seem to recall our whole family busting out laughing at that skit. And we always looked forward to Tim Conway trying to make the other actors break character and laugh "inappropriately," if that even is such a thing, at least not for the Carol Burnett Show.

I love Lucille Ball from age 6 to date. Always enjoyed when Carol and Lucy got together on each other's show, particularly the ones where Lucy played on Carol's. Carol had two daughters with addiction issues, unfortunately one died of cancer; Lucy's son Desi had addiction issues too. Fortunately he rehabilitated. Again, misfortune strikes - his wife died of cancer in 2015 and he granddaughter died of cancer at 31 (I think). Carol unfortunately had parents with alcohol issues, Lucy's father died before age 4, also her mgm and maternal aunt (who she lived with) also died young. Her mother remarried and was away with husband Ed working - for months and years at a time. Both these wonderful women, gave love and laughter to us - overcoming very deeply sad issues. Thank you to both.

Many years ago, my sister worked for a company that had many celebrities as clients. They were all told NEVER to gawk, or they would get fired. My sister was by the elevator showing her friend how the meter in her camera worked (this was before cell phones were invented). She pointed the camera to the lit window, and then to compare, she pointed at the elevator. The doors opened and there was Carol Burnett. Carol saw the camera and immediately started posing and hamming it up. My sister was mortified that she was caught with a camera on a celebrity and she apologized. Carol good-naturally said, "Don't worry about it". Such a nice person. :)

I think Carol helped a lot of other parents of children who had problems with addiction. She went to the nth degree to get her teenage daughter Carrie help, not concerning herself with the resentment that comes a parent’s way when they place their child in treatment involuntarily. Yes, the child will tell the parent they hate them for it. It’s normal and comes with the territory, as Carol understood.

Carol was a kind person with a great sense of humor. Unfortunately addictions run in familys and there is a genetic connection that causes addictions. Parents wait to long to act when they just think the kid is just sowing their wild oats. I believe in putting the breaks on early with these kids and teaching them early what the consequences will be if they decide to take that route into using drugs. They always seem to get sympathy and need enabling. They destroy familys and not everyone can afford rehab. To bad Carol had to go through so much stress in her life cause of addictions in her family. Early education on how much pain they cause would help selfish people to never get started one would hope.
