Your videos are brilliant. My music knowledge is a bit fragmented but this ties things together and helps me to form an overall picture. Thanks very much.
Wow finally someone made this so simple i can play chords i know most of my scale have progression i like to use just never could put the melodies together know it's still going to b work in progress but God this just help me thank you so much
@@WriteASong no really thank you i have been trying to teach my self since i was 13 yrs old nothing but book from the library and watching other piano and organ players but this really open my eyes if it wasn't so late i would jump on my keyboard now but thanks again
i really like bars 17-22, as the note durations are extended, it really "drags" the phrase out. the same set of notes are being played & heard, but are played/heard a bit differently due to the altered durations. i also like repeating motifs over chord changes, as the same set of notes are played, their "function" changes over each chord. a melodic note may be a consonant chord tone over one chord, or a tense non-chord tone (NCT) or an extension over another, which equals familiarity + variety or color. Nice one! I have been searching for melody tutorials and this gives clear explanations. I only have one question: when you say discount B and Bb. Do you mean not to use them? Or use them with more thinking? Looking forwarded to your answers. Thx!
Thanks for the question. Yes I mean not to use them if you're strictly following the blended approach I mention. But feel free to experiment, if you like the sound of something then you can keep it in! Hope that helps.
This video was so heplful. The fact that you actually showed a full song at the end made me better visualize how to add variety in melody throughout the whole arangement. I wonder though if the visualization with notes above numbered chords is self-made, or is there a software for it?

Honestly the most useful melody video I have found to date. Thank you so much as I always struggle to find a good melody with my chords !
Glad it helped!

Thanks! Yeah I'm a fan of repeating motifs over chord changes as well. Easy to do and can sound great.
So clear and concise. You have gifted me something special. I thank you 😊♥️😊♥️

It's made with software called HookPad. I made a video about it here : ua-cam.com/video/YwQxYsVpOq4/v-deo.html
Awesome. Cool content
