Something I've found helpful for inventory access is to keep all my component-type items in the same container and use "ate" as a search term to search for that container since plates have "ate" in them and block names don't. The search field automatically has focus when you open an inventory, and "ate" can be typed with the left hand, so it's very quick to get to my building supplies. It was a bit awkward at first but I'm glad I pushed through that awkwardness to be able to do this. You might also find it handy.

When searching for things I know will still be in an assembler (like new tools or excess ingots clogging stuff up) using the term "sse" works well since it can also be typed with the left hand and it only brings up assemblers without giving me the habit of typing a word that's not considered family friendly.

@@MadMavn For things that you can't find a convenient left hand abbreviation, you can create one like Splitsie does for his bottles. He adds "ttt" to the name of blocks that can refill bottles. That way he can search for "tt" to find bottles anywhere, and "ttt" to find only where to fill them. I'm sure this concept could be adjusted for other items or blocks that you need to access often.

Why does he still not have a wall between his two hangars! And any kind of sensor to detect air inside!
He is one random attack away from a venting base and he hasn't even built a safe box or seat next to his healing station.
Nice video and very nice Engineering bay, I think you need a small grid fighter printer instead of a single fighter. If you are going to fight reavers you will need more then one fighter. And When you want one of them the next one will be needed very soon after (as in the same fight)
Cool idea, and I imagine you are correct about needing more than one fighter per fight.

Since you've gone large grid with your grinder/welder might be worth slapping some of the large lighted panels on the sides of them. That way they'll illuminate the area they're working on.
Hi Mavn! You could build some Searchlights on your base (maybe with splitsies long range searchlight mod) and target only friendly grids in range, like you did on helghan base. Then you (and we) might be able to see when it is dark :)
When cobalt and silver spawn together, if the silver is on top, the cobalt is generally underneath it. Often *directly* underneath it. ^.^

Dude, i love your videos. They're great to watch and I find your voice to be the perfect background noise for when I working. I don't mean noise noise, but you know what I mean.
Lucas's Reavers are no joke. highly aggressive and not the least bit afraid to body slam your base trying to get you.
they will also go into a Death Spin that can and will rip up the Voxels and anything else that gets in the way.
killing them requires taking out the AI Control Block AND the overridden Gyro that causes the spin.
Loving the attachment system for your utility ship, can't wait to see what else you come up with for it!
You could add lights and spotlights to the outside of the base, then you would be able to see better during the night

Modern mining techniques invest large amounts of money into removing the surface material in a way that it can be restored after the seam is extracted… however I don’t think they can fix the hole you made…

Something small to consider doing would be to add the mining block to the readout of the hydrogen reserves. This would let you gauge how fueled (or unfueled) it is before you take it out.

in all seriousness though your SE is the only one I can watch. IDK if it's just because you've raised my standards too high or because too many engineers are terrible at communication, but wowza this series is amazing!

The REavers *will* kill you if they find you. It's a good thing you've held off on building an antenna system, because your current base will get wrecked by a large grid Reaver and even the small grid ones will come so frequently that you'll be scrambling for magnesium all the time. I believe Reavers also aggress based on thermal output, so at some point you will get them even without an antenna. Bigger ships will also need guns (and plenty of them) regardless of their specification. My first Reavers game I built this massive welding rig so that I could in-situ print ships and buildings, and I got immediately faced by a Reaver. Ever since then I have been slapping at least one turret on, so that I can return fire as I return home. Nothing more disheartening to limp home under fire and still be forced to take down a fully-intact Reaver.
Also, thank you Mavn Cousins! I was totally prepared to agonize over those triangles for the next thirty episodes!

Dude you know what would be reeeally cool? There’s a script called AutoDock by Spug or something like that. It may be a bit difficult but you can actually set up your modules (like the drilling one) to fly and attach itself to your ship by just pressing a button. That would be awesome! Anyway, check that script out bc you are going to love it (saves time)

I would see those batteries more as surge reserves for when you connect a ship to charge or for when you throw a load of things into assemblers ect.

With the Reavers I really think you should build some Forts Capac. To spread your weapons out and give the reavers something to shoot at instead of your base.
I get the challenge of no suit and it really shows where the game could benefit from suit docks.
No suit, explorer, engineer, and battle each with a cost of resources to repair and benefits for their use.
I think. Folks need to use filters more often.
Get one big crate to collect rock/ice and don't let it get into any other slots.
You may need to mine a little more often, but it shouldn't be too hard to just add a timer to the mining process to top off the box periodically.

I love the use of Neon, but to me the yellow you used in the Refinery room worked on Helgen with its brown environment...Maybe something in the blue range to match the ice fields?

Why don’t you add an action group to the hanger doors on your construction ship. So you can quick connect to anywhere on the base and “remotely” open the doors?
I actually do have that set up. I just don’t show it very often.
On the modules, unless they've updated it you can use a model on multiple devices and gain full benefit on both, and with how you've got your assembler place doing so would allow you to double the number of models per assembler

I got the question, In the start of playing No Suit Survival when you build the welder ship do you have any issue of the welder that isn't welding the blocks as well the grinder that isn't taking anything from the enemy ship? as I hit that issue
edit: I spoke too soon 🫢 I've verified file cache which (I think) fixed the issue
Build a large grid mobile base that you can use as a tank with some auto repair capacity and custom auto cannon turrets
Add some lights on grinder/welder so u can find it easier on the dark

Here's a question for you Mavn:
If you had to think of one *MAJOR* feature to be added to the game, before it was marked as "done", stops receiving updates, and all focus gets put towards SE2, or whatever Keen does next, what would that one major thing be?
For me, of all the possible things that could be added, from optimization to just making the game open source, the only thing I really want them to add before they stop development, is the ability to be able to paint just *-ONE-* face of a block, rather than the entire cube
the lighting in the greenhouse needs to be green, also - put in some exterior base lights!
You forgot to put the rear 3 hydrogen tanks onto the miner. Not that it needs it, though. It does still need lights, however.
With how large your mining rig is and how large some of your other rigs on this planet may get, would an underground hanger be air tight? If so it'd be less to build being just the door.
I just noticed that each planet has a different construction style to the buildings and it adds a layer to the series that makes them almost look like they're built by different races or people from different countries. Like, the Mauller looks almost alien sitting next to this base, but looks fairly normal to the bases on Helgan.
I'm also really digging the look of the utility ship.

Your automated drill would be more stable if you replaced the horizontal and first set of vertical pistons with static conveyors. Have the only pistons be the ones facing down. You're not moving the horizontal or first set of vertical pistons so all they are doing is adding more sub-grids on sub-grids resulting in the weirdness your camera saw.

We barely get anything done in that series. It would be a nightmare and a half to bring them into a challenge like this. Like “who left the freaking door open!”

The neon in the main part of the base dosnt seem to be as bright as the engeneering room maybe the color you used for them isnt as good and it could use actual lights for amp up there color as it just seems kinda dull like there on energy saving mode or something XD

I have 2 noob questions. How do you place blocks while inside a cockpit and how do you time lapse like that? Do you have a friend afk and record?
oh wow, just hit me... soooo ummm a ship with a no suit. if you get struck in combat and lose pressure, how do you find the leak? i mean there is that one that will "find it" for you by showing a dotted trail to it, but not multiple ones. and reavers? good luck. the big ships are mean with rail guns and ram ya. (do you use jump drives right? ) if so plan ahead with a 350km - 500km jump distance id reckon Looking good at the base!!!

I was obviously missing the loving embrace of a MadMavn video.. But also doubting my own ability to remember what days things happen.. Once you throw TimeZones into that mix also, I have no chance of know what is going on.

Ah the old "hired AN artist" but doesn't do the kindest and most helpful thing you can do for any artist, and shout them out or credit them at all in the description. Infact I can't find any credit anywhere, not in the channel description, the community page or even the store where its being sold and shirts. Its not that you're particulary bad for having done this, its more that it is unfortunately common practice. Also gotta say, Space Engineers without a space suit? You're a freakin mad ma- ... vn
