I learn so much from your work ethic! thank you so much for doing this and all of your efforts are very much loved! especially the small talks and honest advice! love your videos!💕
That’s interesting about your manager updates since I got the opposite feedback, mine wanted me to be more independent and not ask for their guidance/keep them updated on everything so that I could grow! As good as that is for me I’m lazy and like verifying with other people 😅
Hi Marsela! Love your videos so much! I also work from home and constantly feel like in a rut lol. Your workday vlog really inspired me to get more productive!
I can relate to this - we're all locked down and working from home in Melbourne Aus (day 260 or something of lockdown #6). I know what you mean about online meetings - had 3 back to back Zooms for more than 3.5 hours! You structure your day very well with designated breaks - sometimes the tendency is just to keep working when working from home unless you unplug your laptop.
aww hang in there, I know lockdown can be really stressful and isolating. Breaks are really the only thing that make me feel sane. I always make a point to take breaks even if sometimes a break is putting dishes away. It can be hard to switch work off though, I'll work so long some days and look up and realize it's 7:30pm and I've just been sitting in the same spot. Worst feeling!
There are two types of managers, some like micro management, set tons of meeting, and watch every your step. Some are opposite, like me. They have rare meetings, and generally do not care much what you do. I do not know which type you prefer.
This was such a nice vlog! Also a software engineer and I started in this industry not too long ago, the advice about 1 on 1s is definitely such a fantastic idea which I'll be using! I'd love to see more of these kinds of vlogs! :)
Love your videos! I am a self taught developer too. Would love to hear how you document your thoughts, business logic, etc as you code. Do you use any software or just use your notebook to document them? Thanks!
I love to write things down, so I keep a notebook that is just for notes on work / a place to hash out bugs. That's what I use as I code. For personal documentation and notes on work, I mainly use the "Notes" app on my MacBook, works just fine for now. But to be honest, haven't invested much time in upgrading that. For formally documenting work or meetings, I use Confluence / Microsoft Drive which are used company-wide and other people can access.
I've linked most things from my setup in the description!! Hope that's helpful! A monitor or a laptop stand to raise the laptop up is definitely a must, my neck hurts a ton when I work solely from my laptop.
Hello Mam. How are you. My Name Is Aakash Kumar. I Am Doing BCA Course in India. How I can get a Software Engineer Job in Los Angeles California. Please reply me Mam.
Hi Marsela, do you have the 16 inch MacBook Pro? If yes, does yours overheat after a couple of mins usage? I have been having this issue for quite some time now. Just wondering if you do as well. Loving the vlogs btw, really nice :)
yess! It overheats all the time, I need to keep the fans blasting nonstop. I think the only thing that's been helpful is to kill tasks that lurk and take up a ton of CPU usage -- usually for me that's Microsoft Teams, if that's running, my computer is toast. So I always try to be aware of what's running and try to kill anything that I'm not actively using. But other than that, keeping it on a laptop stand and keeping your room at a cool temperature is the only way I manage it
@@marselaaa what!!! 😂 Anyways, really cool to see an F1 fan. Let's see what this season has to offer, a maiden championship or an unbeaten record broken. Cheers. Also, love your videos. I am an incoming software engineer too. Just got a job, will graduate in june'22 and then join.

Everything was going really well until you said that you're a Max fan. 😑 Lewis ftw.
