The ice door could work with armour stands equipped with frost walker boots, being moved around by water sources with light on specific places as not to freeze the path but instead the water below 🤓

The first attempt would probably work if you control the tnt falling. It falling to the side or backwards is probably the reason it stopped being reliable.

@@loomnatinoscopers do you know how hot it is underground? I strongly doubt water in solid form can stay solid without protection in an environment like that.
Flapjackpants 23 I think it would be better to set a height limit for the water turn into ice then, instead of making it not turn into ice because there's no sunlight. It needs to hit a certain height to be inherently hot, some caves are really cold, like the Skaftafell Ice Cave in Iceland for example (I think an ice cave would be something interesting to see in minecraft).

Probably just a natural instinct. Ton of redstone contraptions, nearly all of them, with pistons. I’m sure I would do the same if I was smart with redstone.
Since a fence gate is a little bit higher than a regular block, if you put a block above it that is 2 blocks high you cannot go through it without opening the gate or crouching through it. You can connect a lever to the fence gates and open and close the door. It also works as a invisible door.

just use observers and repeater/comparator and redstone torches
Blocks I front of repeaters would do. Torch towers are nice too. Pistons with red stone to power up things are good.

I routinely use iron doors with buttons on my houses.
Currently planning a flying machine door, gonna use 2 steps to it with 3 machines / sets of machines so I can have the doorway become solid without visible parts after it's all done. Gonna be thicc af and this'll be my first time working in a time delay on a redstone mechanism (which I've barely done jack with anyways) but still that's the plan...

Tick speed kinda has a limit, I’ve heard it’s higher on some people pc’s but low on others, for me mines in 80 so u probably need to experiment with it and find the golden zone

you can also use waterloged slabs for the floor of the door and put a hopper under it that is connected to a item destroyer so the cobblestone gets destroyed

It's more a curtain, but one cheaty solution: dispenser, and lava. It's opaque, it's keeps people and mobs out, is retractable. Fun video anyway!

Should have used snow blocks to make the redstone door, then open the door by placing pumpkins, drop/melt them, and close it by placing snow again.
When he tried blowing up the boxes, the TNT moved each time. So if you found a way to keep it in the same place maybe it would work 🤔

Mumbo, An armor stand with frost walkers boots creates ice quickly and is togglable by removing and replacing the bootsa
I don't think you can swap boots on an armor stand (but you can push it with water current). You can swap boots on a mob though.

Not sure, but frost walker doesn't affect flowing water and water that is not on the level under it, so it should be fine. Don't think FW works in a minecart though.

Water won't freeze if there's a block above it. This means that frozen lakes and rivers aren't frozen solid, they just end up with a frozen layer on top, just like real life. It also keeps underground water from freezing. But then it also means that shadows keep water liquid, which doesn't make sense.
