This was my very first street bike. I have had seven bike's after that one. Some I have loved and some not so much. But the 650 was the most fun by far. They say that once you fall in love the first time you will never love like that again. Whoever said that was correct. To see one in this shape is heart warming.
You're going to get a lot of use out that bike. I bought mine 2 years ago at the age of 17 for 900, with 18,000 moles on. 2 years later and I'm touring states on this thing with a now racked up 47,000 miles. Take care of that bike and it will take care of you.
I just bought this in silver; 11,200 miles. Hasn't been ridden since 1993. All original - not a ding, dent, scratch or tear. A true 'garage find!' Here's the kicker: Only $400! I will be going through mine, top to bottom over the winter and come next Spring, she will emerge from my garage just like this one! As I'm retired, I think one full winter will be plenty of time for me to do all this work. Really looking forward to riding this! It also has the original Vetter faring with JVC cassette stereo! I will be adding a USB flash drive so I can bring along all my favorite .mp3s! I will post some videos coming soon!
IF this is still for sale, I would buy it ..provided the "stock handelbars" could be placed back on the bike and a mid 80's Honda Shadow 750 headlight "rectangle" could be installed ...very nice awesome riding bike ..I put 35000 miles in my 83 650 Maxim back in the 80's and am shopping across Canada/USA for another perfect example.
I am a new rider just this year and this was the bike I worked for this summer (I worked in order to pay off the bike). The bike has sat for 12 years and has had some complications I can no longer figure out. I took all four carbs apart from top to bottom and cleaned them spotless but yet they still cause some flaws which makes the bike poppy. By chance could you guys direct me for further assistance or even send me a contact for Randy F.?
I had a bent framed Seca 550 that was a rocket ship. Those Yamaha Seca's and Maxim's were very fast and would smoke a Harley with half the displacement. The bummer thing is I sold mine for 200 cash to go to the Washougal 125, 500 Nationals.
Muchas gracias
I completely redone mine it looks really nice i put four years in finding origonal part now it has a real pretty ocean blue paint ive found a 650 thats in real nice shape needs carbs redone for 300 oit the door found my next project

I just bought one of these with only 10,000 miles on it for $250. Great deal.
