    That was a very cool idea to use a bucket as the transition piece from seat to hoop! Worked perfectly! Well done and the bike sounds great

    That’s pretty damn good…. The use of the bucket was very cool… a lot builders would of spent 2 days welding something up & wouldn’t have looked as good… VERY WELL DONE

    Seriously, though it turned out amazing! I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting an Indian Scout Bobber… but rebuilding a bike sounds like a ton of fun.

      @@joelt8887 I’m seriously kicking this around. Makes more sense for a first bike that I might die on. 😀 Did a lot of research today and think a Honda VX65 might be the platform for me. I like the longer wheelbase.

      @@joelt8887 I’m actually building the same cafe racer got so many questions lol where you get the bracket for the speedometer an did the tank emblem come off easy ?

      @@chrisjones5033 I cut the original speedometer bracket to use for the after market one. The emblems came off very easy. There was no tape or glue on mine just 2 screws.

    Man Awesome build !! Much Respect ! Question are the front forks the stock forks ?? I love the way you did the bars they are higher mounted not the little clip ons that sit way down by the tank.

      Thank you! Yes, stock forks... yeah, I wanted to be somewhat comfortable while riding, so I went with taller handlebars.

    Great build! I’m working on finishing up my ‘80 XJ650. What exhaust is that though? It sounds amazing and I’d love to throw it on my bike as well

      Also are those the stock headers? My 650 has dual exhaust, one on each side of the bike and I like that single exhaust style

      Yeah, I think they all come with dual exhausts. Unfortunately I don't know the brand. I was fortunate enough to get them with a parts bike. The tip is just a $30 ebay brand

    What jets did u have to use for the carbs for the air pod filters

      I drilled the stock ones out. About 118 for the main and either 45 or 50 for the idle. It runs rich at idle but rides fine.

      Thanks! Got the speedo for about $30 on ebay. I'm surprised at how well it's worked. Would definitely recommend it!

      Nope sorry, not much of a youtuber. I've got the carbs tuned and I've been enjoying it since the vid... everything I got for it was from ebay or Amazon. If you have any questions though let me know.

    Hey man, awesome build. I have a 750 seca that I'm wanting to redo like this because it has a lot of miles and is showing. Do you remember what paint you used on the rims?

      Thank you! I used duplicolor wheel paint from a spray can. I sprayed it into a small container and used a foam brush to paint it on.

    How heavy is the engine? Did you get help with moving it around and installing into the frame?

      I had to roll the engine too move it. Too heavy to lift. Had to do everything on my own. I laid the engine on its side and slid the frame over it.

    finished mine last season. like it better than the harley... i know, iknow.. i went cafe style.. thinking of doing a 750 swap. did you have any problems i should look out for?

      I'm working on a 750 right now. The wiring harness is a bit diffrent it seems. I'm putting it in a 650 frame and it fits the same way. No specific problems that I could mention. Plenty of problem solving along the way though.

      @@joelt8887right now, just the neutral light. when i originally sent this i wasn't able to get it to light up when i flipped the key, but i surprisingly figured all that out.

      @@marzbarz268 are the wire colors different than the diagram? I can't remember if I had issues wiring it. It's worked great for me and I'd definitely buy another one.

      @@joelt8887 for me I had to make a jumper to line up the speedo/tach wires to the right ones on the bike. everything on the diagrams seem correct i just had to move some wires into different spots so they match

      Not in the video. I just partially covered the pods with sweatband to get it running ok. I rejetted after the video though and it runs much better.

      It is a cheap no name brand off ebay. It was about $30 and I'm very happy with it!

    What would you say the cost of the entire build was? Ball park. You killed it! I've been looking at getting one of these XJ's.

      It was a budget build. Just about $1000 total. Including the cost of the bike.

      I'm not a pro by any means. I wouldn't feel right taking anyone's money. I worked on it for about 6 months, so it wouldn't really be cost effective. It really has to be a labor of love.

      Kind of a long story, but in short I was lucky because it was out of the dmv system so I just had to make a story about how it had been sitting and the paperwork was lost. Then had to do a chp vin verification

      I bought a couple of micro drill bit sets for the jets and made inserts for the pods out of a brass sink drain pipe. I didnt have it tuned properly in the video but it runs great now! Happy to go into more detail if you want.

      @@philiphempell1435 the carb jets were stock. I just put the sweat bands on to get it running. Ran ok until about 6k. I've drilled out my jets and have it running much better now.

      @@joelt8887 Thanks for the reply. Do you think that the bands were still letting too much air and that their length would need to be longer to avoid drilling or rejetting? I'm thinking of trying this approach on a new bike project because I don't really want to get involved in dismantling the carbs.

      @@philiphempell1435 I actually cut the bands to allow more airflow, then folded them and adjusted them equally until it performed decently.

    The gaps between the seat and side panels are ugly as fuk, another classic butchered,not running right either,sputters in high rpm bad coils or bad valve maybe.
