My uncle gave me his antique lava lamp before he passed away and now it won't flow anymore. I want to fix it and get it running again. So thanks for showing this!
Would love to see you make videos on: -What dye to use to dye the master fluid -How to make the wax opaque and rich like it used to be -What changed that makes modern lamp wax _so_ translucent, and the water so cloudy (specifics, not just "quality control" and cheapening of materials). Love hearing people talk about their passions.
Thanks for the information, I have the same exact lamp you used in this video, what would be the best way to get the water back to a clear blue, would regular blue food coloring ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
I have made multiple colors using mathmos lamps. For master fluid color I recommend a strong ink like fountain pen ink. Many prefer printer ink, but I have an assortment of colors using fountain pen.
You sure can! I would recommend a hammer-on capper if you have one; there's no lip on the bottle neck for the metal bit to grip onto with the squeezy kind of capper.
Hi, my husband and I are clearing out my in laws house. There are two lava lamps that need to be cleaned &have the fluid replaced in them. I don't want to buy a bottle capper tool thing...I have no idea what I would do with it once I clean the lamps and recap them. I read over sites where corks will not stay in the bottles once the lamps get hot. I saw some silicone wine bottle stoppers on Amazon. Do you think they would stay in the bottles? Thanks for your opinion!
You just have to test it out - I use about 1.5ml of dye for a 32oz lamp and comes out really nice, but it all comes down to the color you're using, the ink brand, and personal preference!@@terraf0rm
I have a different problem than this. My lava lamp lost its fluidity, it won’t form bubbles anymore even after I give it some time to heat up. How do I fix it?
No. The name, and instrument are pronounced with a V, while the french word meaning "look, see, it's done, and it's good" is pronounced "wuh la". Google, its easy.
The original pronunciation used the V sound. It was lazy ignorant Americans who turned it into "Walla" upon arriving at their beloved Wally World. I don't need to check Google. I'm smarter than Google. @@DWilliams-sf5th
@@timh.2137You either live in a cold environment or have just gotten lucky-plenty of evidence online of people receiving new cloudy lamps. One guy did an opening of 6 new Grandes, and every single one was cloudy.

I need to bring my grande back to life. I got it when I was a teen over 20 years ago.
I just ordered the one shot from you...Hope it works...
I got one to work I just may need to tweak it now but need to know what one to add and how much and you rock!
If I don't want to buy the bottlecap press, how can I reattach the cap?

Great job!
do you have to use a bench bottle press or are those two handled bottle toppers enough ?
You can use a hammer-on capper, but there's nothing on the bottle neck for the metal bits to grab onto with the two-handled cappers.
Can I use small hand held capper for beer bottles?
You sure can! I would recommend a hammer-on capper if you have one; there's no lip on the bottle neck for the metal bit to grip onto with the squeezy kind of capper.
What is one shot . I'm In the UK
it is distilled water
Plus Epsom salt or propylene glycol, to make the water buoyant enough
I have an aristocrat from 1970s. Would like to replace master fluid. Would this work? Wax still has nice flow the fluid is just too dark.

How cheap and dumb
For the same price just 20$ buy the dam bottle capping tool
What about making the water blue ? Thank you
You can dye the fluid any color! I prefer calligraphy ink!

What is one shot
My lava lamp has a metal O shape spring inside of it and is lossed, how can I fix that ?
I usually just gently swirl it around until it naturally moves its way back to the bottom
Could you just put a cork in the top? And what about using a funnel to fill the lamp!
You can totally use a funnel to fill the lamp. You can't use a cork because they won't be able to handle the pressure of the heated globe :\
Does this work with modern Mathmos Astros?
Hi this one shot , is it available in america only if so give a alternative please for the rest of the planet .
screw the rest of the planet. Stop stealing our stuff.
Water plus salt. Probably 1% by weight
Distilled water w tsp of Epsom salt
@@kerriechalmers2639 Don't put salt in you lamps; you're gonna corrode your coils. use propylene glycol.
What the Heck is one shot never heard of it. Where do you get it? Can’t find it.
It's a repair liquid for vintage and modern lamps! It's available on our site, OzoneGifts.Com
My wax is separated. two different kinds it looks like How can I fix that?
Or how to spend $60 on a $25 problem. I wouldn't show my face either.
Yes, every lamp ever made is valued at 25$

Does this "fix" the lava just sitting at the bottom and a small blob at the top.. no movement.
Good idea for a product but you should maybe show why your product is better than water + salt
Or a funnel....
What is One shot?? Only One Shot i found is a toilet cleaner. Your link doesn't work....
I've never worked with bottle caps before. Is there a certain size I should buy? P.S. It's Voilà. Not walla

Hello. Did You try to add salt?

who else heard ice spice at 0:00
Guess he's never heard of a funnel lol.jk bro
Well this is kind of stupid at $30 + shipping you might as well go ahead and buy a new one!
Yeah but when you buy the new one, it comes cloudy 🤷🏼♂️
A new *cloudy* one
@@williamlawson7852 IDK what you guys are talking about li have never gotten a new one that was cloudy!
@@damonsellers9267 even if a new one came cloudy I'd rather spend about 10 cents on salt to make a brine with to clear it up... $30 is ridiculous!
