Do you own a lava lamp?
I used to
I wish
Yes I do its yellow wax (or paraffin) in blue water, exactly like the one you used that was 14.5 inches.
@Mad Russian Scientist I used to like 6 years ago.
I really want one my parents wont let me🥺
Wholesome Russian man excited about big lava lamp
:)
You know what they say about Russian men with big lava lamps don't you....?
@@supachaloopa3611 what do they say?

Big electric bills.
Nice, but it's the largest commercially available lava lamp. They used to make and sell larger lamps. The Humongo and the Collossus. Both are four feet tall and contain about ten gallons of fluid & lava wax. They only made 35 Humongos for the company's 35th anniversary. Then they made the Collossus a few years later as a luxury sales item. From what I was told recently by a major collector, there were maybe two or three hundred ever sold in the US. To get one today you have to be lucky enough to find a used one for sale and be willing to pay the price.
Wow thank you so much. I thought the 27 inch one was the biggest lol. Getting my hands on those rare lambs will be more than hard
@@OVERLORDCLOWN There was a couple for sale recently on "Oozing Goo" (Lava Lamp enthusiast website) for $3000 each I think. He wasn't willing to ship them either, you had to show up in person to claim one. Can't say I blame him...
3:51 "Well, that's pretty much shit." Damn, I love accents, lol.
lol
Am i the only person that always dreamed of a pillar sized lava lamp? Like i need it
i wish they made lava lamps for every light fixture in the house lol imagine your overhead lights and garage floodlights being lava lamps 🤗🥰
Yeah that would be pretty cool! :)
That would be so cool 😊
By brother got this same lava lamp last year for Christmas. Consuming 100 watts, it's definitely an energy hog, for a novelty item. Considering he lives in Southeast Michigan, having the 27 inch and a smaller 14.5 inch in his bedroom in the winter months kinda serves an additional purpose, keeping his room a bit more cozy 😋 while mom and dad lower the thermostat in response to rising energy costs.
@@DKShoneys-dc2dp that and when I was a child in the 1990s one item that was really popular at the time that you now once in a blue moon find at a garage sale or thrift store is the halogen torchiere, typically using 300 watt tubular halogen bulb, and 500 watt versions were also available until UL removed the listing from them sometime in 1996 and limited the wattage to 300, and around that time began to be sold with a wire cage to reduce the fire risk from curtains blowing into the bowl. The bulbs sometimes shattered while in use flinging hot glass fragments onto furniture and carpet, usually from skin oils because someone installed the bulb without wearing clean gloves. Rubbing alcohol and paper towel should be used to clean the halogen bulb if it's ever touched with bare hands. As a result these lamp pretty much vanished from store shelves by the early 2000s and it's been pretty close to 20 years since I last seen one turned on.
i wonder how many lava lamps does he have at home
I only have two lava lamps currently, I used to have more
@@pharmerpnw what happened to the others?
@@pharmerpnw I'd love to see you review more lamps!
Some of them broke

This is very cool, reminds me of a salt lamp I used to own. I licked it as a kid to see if it was actually salt
It was
Salt lamps are cool too
This guy commented on a video of mine about 2 years ago and said to keep up the good work. I didn't realize he was a big deal youtuber. I feel so honored now. Just so you all know, he's a great guy on youtube not just on vids. I need to make more videos. I feel like I'm letting him down. I remember my sister having a lava lamp, but never really knew what they had in them or what made them work. This is a great video.
:)
Thank you for your support!
lol he commented so u could check out his content
you are letting your russian dude down tomboi, where are the videos
I just bought 2 of the 27" lava lamps. One is purple water & pink lava, and the other is blue water & yellow lava. They are ok, but have the same problems the small ones have- gets cloudy sometimes, starts to produce small bubbles intead of big ones after 4 hours sometimes, etc. But they help to make my 72" screen tv look more expensive. 🥳
Do you use a dimmer switch with it? If not turn down the dimmer so its not a bright/hot and it'll flow better.
Where from plz
@@stetchkov Okay, I will try a dimmer switch and see how it goes, thanks.

@@AshNorman-ls5pp I went to Home Depot and got a white one. If I remember correctly it was like $15 or something.
I'm so jealous!! I love lava lamps.
1 a.m. wake up everybody my lava lamp is working. I love it. Thanks for posting , it's a lot of fun.
I was just getting ready to watch it for a while , now that it's warmed up..
Thank you for watching!
Good video i liked it. But the lava lamp is soo big it should do something... Like USB attachment or a clock display... Change color... Bigger should mean more features too! If you build the human size one, put it with a clock or something... USB portals... Make it useful.
I agree :)
Came for a colossus
When he lifted up the main bottle part, it reminded me of a Russian drinking a bottle of vodka the same size
Haha lol
Where did you get the large size 💚
My guy got this from shark tale
I should be getting a lava lamp soon! I didnt know it would take so long to heat up though, but at least I'm getting it in the morning so I can use it at night to read
That's awesome! Enjoy it :)
I have this exact lamp, got it many years ago but the bulb burnt out, i tried a new bulb but no dice.
I didnt use it for maybe 5 years and i decided to fix it up but i could only get 65W bulb.
I turned it on again for the first time today and im 11 hours in and a blob has still not made it even half way up to the top. Its crazy how long it takes without 100W bulb.
I think it would be great to be able to regulate the temperature better because 100W bulb is too much i think. Sure it takes a long time to get going but o ce it gets there it seems to then get TOO hot and you have to turn it off since all the wax gets stuck in small clumps at the top
If there was a good way of getting it up to temp without the bulb the 65w bulb would keep it active much longer since the temp climbs super slowly.
Try a dimmer - rotary type, inline with the power cord. Wide open until the lava begins to flow, then dial it back 25pct.
I always hated it whenever my lava lamps would just tip over, if I ever bumped the surface they were situated on :/
Yeah that's not fun
Never happened to me but got that sounds like a nightmare. Mine does have a wide base so thats good.
thanks for posting this. i plan on buying one and i was trying to get an idea of how big it actually is, this video was exactly what i was looking for.
I'm glad it was helpful! :)
Thanks for pointing out which box was small and which was big. Very helpful 10/10 👍
:)
I use to have the large one but my step dad got drunk and knocked it over, it broke 😭
Oh no, I'm so sorry
great video I wish you showed more of the lava lamp near the end though. although it was 1 in the morning
Can I get the link to the big lava lamp? Thanks 🙏
My dad had one like this in his recording studio 20 years ago. It was so amazing to watch. He said it fell over and stopped working one day. All it needed was a new light propbably. Wish he kept it. Nice review!
Thank you 😊
this happened to me yesterday and thought it was done for, luckily I bought a 10 pack of the bulbs needed for the lava lamp and when I switched it out it work again 😅
Are you ever going to do the ivory soap in micro wave like I asked around 3 months ago
I'll get to it, I was very busy with my regular job lately
@@pharmerpnw its alright i was just wondering
With the huge one you have to wake up early and turn it on to enjoy it
Yeah it takes a while to get it started
Did you know that cloudflare actually uses lavalamps to generate encryption keys? It must be so satisfying to watch their wall of lavalamps.
Interesting
Yesss I love this video!! Which one of ur kids gets this one? Lol
Thank you :) This lava lamp will be mine :)
@@pharmerpnw that's awesome!! XD
It has always been my dream to buy a huge lava lamp and then I found one but haven’t bought it yet because the offer only describes how tall the 27 inch lava lamp is. It’s the same lamp in this video. This video is good it even teaches you how to set it up but ever since I discovered the lamp I’ve been looking for information of how wide the lamp is and the video doesn’t say.
It's about 6 inches wide
The base has a 10.5 inch diameter. Make sure you leave extra space around it becase it does get rather warm when running.
How's it working after a year and a half? I really really want one of the large ones if they last well. Thanks!
It's working very well, no problems with the lamp at all!
How long of waiting for it to arrive, my order is processed just waiting to be shipped..
It took me a little longer then one week
So awesome! I want one just like it. Love it. Color and all
By the way, this is not the worlds largest lava lamp.
Mans sounding like gru
:)
How much electricity does this use
Lava lamps are awesome
Yes they are!
Sorry to burst your bubble (ha ha !) But this is not the biggest lava lamp in the world... the biggest is made by the society Mathmos of the original inventor of this lamp, this model is called "The Saturn" and it make 59 inches and cost 3k.
wish I could see how it looks in the dark
Back in the days, when I was a schoolboy, I had the best lava lamp made in the former Soviet Union. It was half meter tall glass cylinder, filled with water and paraffin. The incandescent lamp at the stainless steel base was lighting up/heating the tri-colored bottom of the cylinder. All the bubbles had amazing shift of the tint and the saturation of the colors, while they were moving up and down. The construction was simple yet sturdy and the visual effect was stunning. Unfortunately it lasted just a couple of months: our cat made one really brave, but unfortunate jump and the lamp fell on the floor, shuttering the cylinder...Now, many years ago, I can not find anything similar to that lamp. For some freaking reason they are all made of the same shape. Tall cylinder looks the best, but...
Yeah I like tall cylinder lava lamps too
I have seen tall cylinder shape on ebay
@@joydarling314Me, too/as well; they come from the former USSR, U.S.S.R., Soviet Union, Ukraine, though, and they are over/more than 40/forty years old!
I imagine buying this and falling asleep while waiting for the lava lamp to get going
I want a small one since im afraid of my cat knocking it over or getting hurt by it. Any recommendations?
"Look at this, compares."
Wow! I love this lava lamp.
why is there a space/gap in the liquid at the top of the big one? The small one has no gap.
It's probably because it's way bigger volume wise
What Amazon link or brand to buy for the small lava lamp or equivalent on your video ? Do you think it's worth spending more for the original Mathmos ? Thanks !

May I ask how much was the big lava lamp?
Yes of course! It was $99
Thank you for your video. I was looking online to buy a new one and wondered how big that size really is. It's a monster!! haha
Yes it's a big one for sure!
1:12 Ooah Damn Is Heavy

No monsters from my lava lamp :)

It was $99 and I've got it at vat19
it seems to me there was too much wax in the bigger lava lamp which limits the amount of Lava Bounce, yes or no?
Oh bummer thhe video does not show the large lava lamp justice I have that exact same one at the shop that I work at and there's like a million big bubbles in there once it gets really going
Cool but I can see my electricity bill now

I've got it on vat19.com
That’s a big box. Ngl
Yes it is!
I loved your video. I have one 14.5 inch one. I love your giant lava lamp, where did you get it please? I live in Glasgow, so I will have to Google suppliers. Now I am determined to get a giant one like yours. The lamp soothes and mesmerises me and helps me sleep too...

It has temporary place for now until we find a perfect place for it
Okay! Thank you for your time! :D
Can u still buy these in the UK??

That is not going to fit in a microwave.
It defeats the whole purpose of the lavalamp.

Very inefficient and power hungry. Use it to heat your room too.

Is a big lava lamp worth it ?
I still like it!
I've been wanting one of these giant lamps for years, but they're always sold out on the website. I bought the 16.3" the other day, though. 🙂
Nice! 16.3" is a good size lamp too!
I just saw the 27" lamp for sale on Amazon for a little over $200 if you are still looking for one.
They're back!
Goes through all that trouble waiting 4hrs for it to heat up properly and doesn't even show it in the dark. What a let down😟
I was planning to do it and totally forgot, it was around 4 am when I finished filming
Try to find a colossus, it's bigger!

I have the exact same little lamp. I bought it from Walmart for only 7usd on sale. Took it home kids, what happens if you shake it. I said let's see. Now I have a cloudy lamp. Looking for a way to fix it without poping the cap. I have owned it for one day.
Oh no, I'm sorry
Run it for short bursts. Only long enough for the lava to begin to flow, then turn off and allow to cool completely. Then do it again, and again, and again. It might take several times to get all the "wax" to reconstitute.
@@anonymousplanetfambly4598 thanks I'll try it.

Worlds largest? I have one like 5times the size of that?
No way!

This is so tremendously, astonishingly far from the biggest lava lamp.
