      I've noticed in the comments that people don't even know Annie's name. It all plays into what she said in the previous episode about having to be on his ride.

      He loves her so desperately and doesn't know how to show it or act like it. It must be almost like an addiction, because you know for the fact the love is there and you keep getting glimpses of it but then it keeps hurting you. I am so glad that you covered this couple further! I remember thinking, ‘ I need Dr. Kirk Honda’s interpretation’ for this couple when I watched the first season.
    Also, I got the impression that Annie and Mau were the ones ending the therapy not the other way around, which is why the Doctor was also so hesitant and told them to take care of each other.

    The first Couples Therapy reaction video I watched was also the first Psychology in Seattle video I had ever seen. It was earlier this year, and I recognised instantly my perspective on my relationships suddenly changing. It felt like someone was lifting the veil off my previous relationships, especially when Kirk broke down why some men are hypersexual and seemingly unemotional. In some ways it has been what I learned is a "corrective experience", to hear men, in particular, talk about this so articulately. I used to cut off my emotions as well to match the man because I knew it made me stronger since they were doing it, and I knew I would probably get less hurt. Now I know it does not make men or women strong at all. I see it's the last reaction video to this couple and it is the end of the year, so I hope the New Year brings healthier relationships for me and anyone else who got something similar from these reaction videos :)

    Mau is eerily similar to my partner, so this has been so helpful! I see myself in Annie, especially when she struggled to get herself from the couch. Mau makes me appreciate how much my partner has grown during our relationship and how much more growing we both have to do. ❤️

    Not sure if you watched the next episode. There is a scene where the therapist discusses to her Advisor about Annie and Mau . She tells her that even though Mau appears to be dominant, Annie is the controlling person in their relationship and that she has all power to leave if she wants to. ( not exact words).
    Its hardly 2-3 minutes in the episode.
    Was wondering if you can please put a reaction video to that last part - which will be the concluding part.( The conclusion confused me). Would appreciate your professional opinion about that !

    I feel very bad for Annie. I feel like all the focus was on him, his stuff, his childhood. Annie opened up about sexual assault and I know we dont see everything but I feel like it was very glossed over. Even when she tells the therapist that she felt sexually pressured and Mau shut her down I would feel very betrayed by my therapist if she did what this one did. Not saying she is bad at het job I think alot of what she has done is good, but I'm worried Annie feels dismissed even in these sessions. He speaks down to her all the time and it's all about him. I would hope that in a similar situation the therapist is able to not make the Annies of the world to feel so beaten down bu someone that kind of dominates the conversation. It's been really insightful to watch this series, as I'm going to therapy with my dad and also having a fight with my boyfriend atm. It's very informative and I really respect your approach to your work and to people. I'll be honest and say the first session with my estranged father I just wanted to blame him and I wanted him to feel like he was wrong and just point my finger. But iutlr therapist is very good with bringing the focus back to our relationship and how to better it. Not to focus too much h on who is right and wrong and what who did, but how we both feel and how we can approach each other's feelings and rebuild our very fractured and non existing relationship. I respect it and I want to work with a mindset of we want to be here and we need to work with each other. Thank you for this series and I hope you keep doing similar video.

    Surprised the therapist lets Mau run on with assumptions of what his wife wants and/or is thinking.

    Why not speak about himself? And why doesn't therapist set this boundary?

    Having been in lots of couples therapy with a spouse with the exact same pattern. Couples counseling with this person was over and over retraumatizing. The spouse of this type gets overlooked and all energy goes to the abusive spouse. Often times the therapist is looking for an area the suffering spouse needs to work on to even the playing field. 30 years of couples counseling with multiple therapists and psychologists, we never made any headway. Now I am embroiled in a 4 year vindictive divorce trying to overturn a post nuptial agreement. Beware.

  • @Christina-ts1qb

    From the series they actually state/ imply that it's the last session because they're done? As in they're going to wait until their son is of age then split it seemed....although that was followed by commentary from the therapist that although it seems like Mau has all the power in the relationship, it's actually Annie that's the one in charge...... really interesting couple!

  • @LovezLauren
    @LovezLauren Місяць тому

    I think the doctor treating them when discussing the case with her supervisor labeled Annie as the controlling one in the relationship because she is, while not perfect, more emotionally developed than Mau, who very much so thinks like a preteen. So to me watching, it looked as if he was a child acting out to get his mommy’s aka his wife’s attention, because any attention positive or negative is better than being ignored, which is what he was by his actual mom. So I think the doctors point was to an extent Annie is aware that he is extremely reliant on her emotionally so she can metaphorically keep him on a string.

  • @ruthguzmanjones6871
    @ruthguzmanjones6871 Рік тому +3

    Yeah, this guy looks and sounds like a sad and scared little boy. He probably thinks his wife will never leave him bc in his mind he is so “amazing.” He could be a good provider which tricks a lot of women into thinking he/she is a good partner but fails to acknowledge he needs to work on himself to become a BETTER human being. Lets hope he watches his sessions and views himself as who he REALLY is and improves himself. I also hope, Annie makes a decision and fights for her own happiness. Sometimes we get too wrapped up in making other people happy that we forget about ourselves! ❤
    PS. If my husband ever pull some shit like canceling his bday party and flying to Italy alone I would have served him with divorce paper upon arrival. WTF NO!

    The abrupt ending was so hard to watch. Even if it was the couples' decision in some way - we didn't seem to hear about it in session (unless Dr. Honda edited that part out, since I haven't seen the original). And even if it was the couples choice you'd still this she has a ethical responsibility to say SOMETHING.. hopefully encouraging so they'd consider therapy in the future. Not sure where this show was aired? But I'd be interested in watching how the therapist handles the other couples.
