Great job! 👏 I just fixed my niece's 2008 VW Beetle 2.5, which had a similar California smog check registration issue. I ran the same elimination test using my smoke machine and Ross-Tech VCDS Basic Setting Test 71. In her case, the canister itself was leaking from the top cover seam. Normally, we’d purchase a new one, but as you know, Euro parts are super pricey. To save some money, I used JB Weld Plastic Bonder along the seam, and it worked like a charm. She passed emissions and saved over a grand in parts and labor!
Tip: For anyone with the same vehicle, you can remove the rear passenger tail light to check where the smoke is coming from. However, removing the rear wheel is the better option as it provides full access and a clear view of the entire canister. 👍🏻

hyundais and kias are known for the charcoal canister going bad. it was the first place i checked when they came into the dealership. everything was warranty work from kia so i left

Angel they shot the parts cannon at that car they did every single evap components except the lines lol
