Buddy Guy, Gary Moore (R.I.H.), Prince (R.I.H.) and a few others have played Red House very well!!! I know Jimi is smiling every time he hears Red House playing. What a jam session they are having in Heaven with all the great guitar players that have passed away!!!! Heaven be rocking!!!!!
At 87 yrs Buddy Guy puts a show on that is Absolutely FIRE! I saw for the First time in ‘16 and then last year at Nola JazzFest. The first time it was like watching Jimi if he had lived this long. This last year he was on the mainstage and the sound guy did the Legend absolutely no justice. Buddy as stated is in his mid 80’s and can still play but his voice is a little softer and he is not the Buddy Guy I saw in ‘16. But no matter what i have gotten to see a true legend, and one of the last link to all the old cats. It was a pleasure to see Buddy! If he makes it back next year I will be in attendance.
I had Red House on a CD in my car circa 1998. I just couldn't remember where I'd download it from and who the artist was. Yes, downloading was around back then. No need for Spotify or UA-cam. Original music/movie computer geeks 😜
Zanky Albo sorry, you are wrong. That's Peter Green statment about Clapton. It is in a interveiw in Guitar Magazine. I have that magazine, it is about British blues boom.
Dayumn!! Beautiful. Can sure see part of where SRV got his sound. So glad they got to play together now and then ... and Stevie always gave him his props. (And: "I know her sister will" - !!!)

Overall I kinda like this version better than Jimi's version, but I quite like Jimi's solo a bit better than Buddy Guy's solo. Both will melt your face right off but Jimi's solo get's the edge.

Yeah that's how you play Red House for all you folks thought Slash did it justice with Boz Scaggs Boz had some passion to his playing but slash played like a robot
he did some studying for this one. although its not as hard for buddy to do a jimi song because alot of jimi is buddys stuff or other plays buddy studies such as albert king
And for all you Joe Bonamassa haters maybe you have it listen to The thrill is gone because his version is very good Yeah he over plays a lot of his tunes but if he's going to cover something he'll cover it right in most cases
Im not a hater - props where due -JB is lightnin FAST...............simply not enough SOUL to go with that speed - in fairness and full disclosure.......my first LIVE show was Jimi Hendrix so I've been pretty SPOILED by that!
He was great in his earlier years until , he started to become too much a gimmicky showman. His guitar work to me didn't get better to me it went down hill. He's a legend no doubt but listen to Red house live in San Diego or the Albert Hall bu J.Hendrix and I think it clear Jimis versions are way ahead in all departments. Both versions are light years ahead of any other blues performances. I listen to them and watch his total engrossment in the breaks..wow..
Sorry but this is nowhere near the greatness of Jimi's version. His voice is great but there is absolutely no variety, no subtlety, no space left open. The bends are horrible at times. Horrible. If you took away the singing and not mention Buddy's name, I'd bet a lot of people would say this was not very good.
I just don’t get this guy I try and try and it doesn’t work for me. This comes as close as possible as a like, Still it meanders and is weak over all in total expression. I mean if you listen to Hendrix certainly you understand what I’m saying here. The notes are just flurries with out independent expressiveness. Yeah I just don’t get this guy- no way.
Santana, who met Jimi early in his career, asked him who he admired the most -- Buddy Guy.
Santana lied, name any of Buddy guys songs that he recorded.
Ain't nobody like Buddy. When he takes off ....he flies HIGH.
Buddy is a national treasure.
This version and jimi hendrix versions are the best
Saw him in Reading, PA last November. 85 years old and still going strong! Had an awesome time!
Gonna see him in Detroit next month.
Lucky you are!
Rock on.
Yeah! happy new year!@@JILLDeShong3
We saw him September 2023 in San Diego.
He is still amazing (and funny).
Christone "Kingfish" Ingram opened.
Amazing night of blues.
Try driving in a convertible with this song playing. No way you can do the speed limit. Not even close.
Haha. Just imagined having to drive the speed limit while listening to this....started stressing me out 🤣🤣 not possible!!! You nailed it!!!
One of the greatest blues guitar players ever and song too
Dang! That was hotter than a bowl of Texas chili.
Buddy so tears it up...been a fan for 30+ years...use to see him regularly at Biddy Mulligans in Chicago....
Omg fr that guitar tho jesus i love it
Ah... Sweaty Mulligan's
I saw him at Biddys as well. Grew up in Rogers Park
i started going to see buddy play in the late 70s at biddy mulligan's as well!
Luv the way he just slides and glides through the notes. Best blues guitar player, period.
Searched for other blues artists who did covers of Red House. Was not disappointed. Holy shit this is good.
Have always loved this version his playing is so brazen. What a force !!
Hard af! Anyone who attempts to play Jimi has to lay it all out. Jeff Beck does Manic Depression on this album, its killer too.
Next to the grave with no name. Awesome!

AMEN TO THAT STATEMENT MAY THEY ALL REST IN PEACE HAIL THE GUITARS GODS
And they can speak it subliminally to your soul.
Wa wa wa what a great version of a blues classic.
He KILLS it here
Buddy and his guitar Jesus Christ I love it
Dude i do love that guitar
Absolutely the best version of this tune.. incredible !!
I agree
best cover....but Jimi's is still tops!
After the thousand different versions by Jimi ( different every time he played it.)
As Jimi Said, he was an major inspiration
Loving the fuzzy chaos here!

Gave jimi a run for his money with that intro
When buddy’s having a good night , you can’t touch him.
Buddy is a bad ass!
he does that about as well as anyone he's one of our best even JH is smiling I bet
Love this dud king of feed back !
There's a vid of Eric Clapton saying,
"When Buddy's havng a good night, you can't touch him".
Zanky Albo sorry, you are wrong. That's Peter Green statment about Clapton. It is in a interveiw in Guitar Magazine. I have that magazine, it is about British blues boom.
Clapton did say many years ago that Buddy is the best guitar player alive.
Love Me Some Buddy Guy Thank you 💙
fantastic...
DAMN DAMN DAMN Buddy Guy TY ✌💙
Sickest ever..wow,cant believe I never heard this!
it is rather good.............
From a tribute LP to Hendrix...Buddy's somethin' else !!!

I'd say Albert King was SRV's more obvious influence but there is a little bit of buddy in there!
@@AmarettoSour710 Indeed he was. And, of course, we all know Stevie idolized Albert King.
Best ever blues

Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Electric blues with some STANK on it...damn, Stepchild...
Excellent.
Nobody bends the strings like Buddy. I can recognize his playing anywhere.
Don't forget Albert King on the string bending!
@@AdiosMoFo srv too
@@AdiosMoFo Agreed! Albert King was the king of bends. Hendrix and SRV took notes
Awesome!
Whoo fuck that guitar gives me that STANK face involuntarily. Also, it sounds like a fucking laser beam. A stank face inducing laser beam.
Laser beam. Yes. UFOs coming to destroy the earth. Lasers firing and this guitar sound IS the sound those lasers would make. So cool.
My Hero my idol
Mr BUDDY GUY
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿✌🏿🎸
Hendrix does Red House on his live album - In The West. Very much influenced by the playing of MR. BUDDY GUY.
Dec 30, 2019 and I still hear this Buddy's song
Buddy the best
Buddy guy the linving blues

From a tribute to Jimi cd...called Stone Free/came out 1993.
Buddy's the man !!!!!
My favorite version of " Stormy Monday " is Lil Milton's and that's second only to Buddy's version.
There is a good Blues Breakers version with Clapton and Jack Bruce pre-Cream. Jack Bruce is playing Alto Sax.
A Lil Milton fan?? Too cool. James Cotton does a really chilled out version of Stormy Monday as well.
Check out Bobby Blands version of Stormy Monday. It's the best and truest to T Bone....❤
Budy the best
Day - yum!
man the sound
Wow!
So brazen so badass
ooooooohhhhh mama!!!
Damn. Duck yes.
9 Bonamassa fans dislike this video of real blues
bonnamassa is good man
its not clapton or hendrix, but its not bad
Technically, he's the best living blues guitarist...
Excellent.. I think a different set up than jimi used .. Dam right!
So THAT'S where Jimi got ispieation.

saw him and Junior Wells late 60's...yikes!
funny that this is the same guy who shit on jimi and said he couldnt play blues

Probably the best version of Red House - even better than Yngwie Malmstein or Walter Trout! And that must be good!
My absolute favorite version of this song. So much better than Hendrix. In my opinion.
