- A preliminary look at the 2023 Yamaha XSR900 in stock form. In this video, we will dive into some fine detail of the XSR900, discuss some differences between it and the MT09, and layout the plan to modify this motorcycle.

I bought my 22 used XSR900 a few days ago and have only ridden it around the block, not even out of second gear. 581 miles on it, so not even broken in. Despite everyone including me treating this like a middle-weight and mid-powered motorcycle, I'd like to point out that this bike makes more power than the original Honda CBR900 while weighing less, plus has sophisticated racing TC that would slaughter it on the racetrack.
You’ve found a jewel by getting one used with so few miles on it. I agree with the power/weight figures. It is still classified as a middle weight but that’s all relative as you’ve alluded to. Keep enjoying your XSR and hope you can get some more mileage on it very soon.
I love mine got it back in July of 23’. It holds the curves a lot better than my old bike and the seating position is good. The seat is my only negative.
Right on, thank you for sharing your experience. From the time I’ve spent with it, hard not to like it.
Really enjoying these videos!
I just got my blue XSR this week so still in mode 4 as I get used to it 😅.
I also really like the stock sound, especially the intake.
I know some people have also said the TFT is small but agree it’s fine in person and really clear.
Am planning to use as my next commuter eventually so do have some concerns about the width of the mirrors but figure worse case I can put on some standard bar upright ones.
I’m down in Australia 🇦🇺 but even with the price here, a little bit more against our dollar, you can’t argue with all the tech you are getting.
Cheers
Awesome! Glad these videos have been helpful to you.
Absolutely nothing wrong with staying in mode 4 until you are a little more comfortable.
From what I have seen so far, this would be a great commuter other than the fuel consumption. It’s a little thirsty on gas, but it’s not horrible. When we change the exhaust and flash the computer I would assume we’ll probably lose some more fuel mileage.
Keep enjoying your XSR, you’ve made a great choice! Hard not to have fun on a cafe racer with 120 hp and only 425lbs weight. Thank you so much for watching and for your support!
Not gonna lie, after the Svartpillin, I want this bike next. Stay safe riding.
It’s a sweet bike man. Appreciate the well wishes and want to thank you for watching.
I also own the blue 22' XSR and I am waiting for someone to put clipons on it. Make sure you do a vid on it how it feels like with clipons :)
Clip on video is coming very soon. The first video will be a how to guide to install the kit and we’ll do another video later reviewing the new riding position.
Thank you for watching!
"why are you worrying about something nobody will ever see?"
I have a 2022 Street Triple RS. I had a magnetic tank bag that created one single 5mm long scratch on the right side of my tank. Only I know where it is, and it honestly takes me a while to hunt for it. But I know it's there 😢
Sounds like we are on the same wavelength when it comes to little issues or slight damage with our bikes.
You’ll be surprised the types of comments I get from people who believe just because they don’t care about something, nobody else should either.
Thank you for watching and for sharing!
Like your content! I’m between this and the 765 sport triple!! Love the lines and looks of the 765 but hard to beat that Yamaha for longevity! Triumph requires you to go to the dealership just to clear maintenance interval warning on the TFT. Very off putting for us that do our own maintenance and live long distances. 400 beans for the 600 mile service🙄
Thank you for the compliment! The 765 is a great bike man. Hard for me to believe you can go wrong choosing either the XSR900 or the 765. I’ve heard a lot of positives regarding the smoothness of the 765’s and triumphs in general. Big bummer about the maintenance light though, Ducati is the same way. If it were me, you know what I’d pick. But again, I don’t think you’ll produce a frown going with either.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@ridewithKY I bought the 2024 XSR 900! Lovin it so far!
Congratulations! You are going to really enjoy that XSR900. They are fun to modify and easy to work on. 🔥.
Very nice and informative video! Thx 😊
Thank you for watching!
Love the Vitpilen in the background! I have a 2020 Vit 701 and am looking to pick up the Yamaha as my second bike.
Thank you! Nice, if you do end up going with the Yamaha I’m confident you’ll enjoy it very much. I’ve got a bunch of 401 Vitpilen content on my channel if you ever have time to check it out.
Thank you for watching!
The vents on the tank are dummies
You are incorrect. Direct from Yamaha’s website:
“The XSR900’s fuel tank is inspired by Yamaha’s 80s-era Grand Prix road racers, and features air intakes at the front that not only help to enhance the engine efficiency, but also transmit the powerful sound of the intake roar to the rider at higher speeds.”

Why are you making such a big deal on scratches you won't see.
I’m not… 😂😂😂. That was explained in the video.
Sorry I stand corrected
Appreciate your acknowledgment. Nobody knows everything.
A YZF-R1 would look right at home next to that XSR. 🤝
Might have to be the next bike on the channel. 🤷.
Great video man, lots of solid points
Appreciate it! Thank you for your support!
Superb video.. luv the setup 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you very much and thank you for watching!
Pls get the rizoma seat for it, expensive but looks really good and i wonder if it’s comfy
Definitely a contender. Aesthetically probably the nicest looking seat for these.
@@ridewithKY would be awesome to get a honest review of the seat 😉
@alemspreco we’ll see what happens. Sucks the rizoma seat is crazy expensive, but the stock seat is so ugly it might just be worth it.
@@ridewithKY yeah the $$$ is high but im hoping people buy it so we can get an idea how soft it is. Im planing on doing the PyramidMoto Seat cowl for looks if the i keep the stock seat
@alemspreco I do like the seat cowls available for these as well. Nice option to have if you want that single seater aesthetic. Either way we are doing something with this mailbox seat, either by replacing it or putting a cowl on it. Hopefully whatever decision we make will prove to be helpful to you.
