    Been riding for about 6 months and my first bike was a 01 shadow. I am so glad I did something like that to learn and practice. I just picked up an XSR900 yesterday. Tons of power, tons of fun and it feels so easy to ride. I am so glad I progressed through my bikes the way I did. Absolutely love the XSR.

    Riding it for over a year and I'm happy with my choice. It's my first "big bike". Earlier ridden XSR 125 :). I'm very interested in seeing it on the track and You are my last hope here. No one seems to think about it as a performance machine as it is. I'm tired hearing comparisons between XSR 900 and Speed Twin 1200 or sth. Please take it to the track!

    I bought an original red 2014 FZ-09. List was $6,999. I paid $6,499. Best value ever at that time. And the lack of “refinement” was never noticed in the midst of roarty three cylinder fun. I blitzed mountain roads, toured on it, all with unlimited fun! I traded it for a Z-H2 in 2020 and got $4,900 on trade!

      @@nickonajite9799I’d be scared with that much power. It takes so much riding and practice to get shifting right, parking, highway, local street. I got a 650 cc as my first bike and I love itttt. Also I’d be ready to upgrade and drop more money for this 900 cc with more experience and confidence to handle it better as those bikes deserve to be ridden well.

    • @Khal03
      @Khal03 4 місяці тому

      @@nickonajite9799 First of all, Be Afraid. Bikes will kill you quick. Trust me, I lost one of my sons to a motorcycle crash. Second, don't be afraid... What I mean is, you must give motorcycles the respect they deserve and not ride them beyond your skill level or overestimate your skill level. As well, though, you can't ride around in terror of your death, either. Be cool, and enjoy the freedom that a motorcycle gives you, and enjoy the ride. Let your confidence build slowly in your control and ability. My first bike was a 1900cc Yamaha Roadliner. Factory, it was a dream to ride with unmatched torque. After race intake, full length V&H Pro Pipe, minus the baffles, and a raunchy tune, it became the undisputed King of my riding group which consists of all big boy Harleys. Faster, smoother, more HP, way more TQ, half the price and nearly 200 lbs lighter than the nearest bike to me in weight. I have since bought another 1900cc Yamaha Raider. Rode it across the Midwest from Iowa to eastern Ohio with my wife just to see a concert. I said all that to say this: everyone I knew counselled me to get a small bike for my first bike. Should I have? I can't say. What I can say is that a small bike isn't a guarantee that you will live. Only you can do that, and you must have some self control and realistic idea about what you are capable of. In reality, the same driver that runs into you on your bike at any speed will kill you just the same as if you were walking, and that is the one thing you cannot look out for enough. Ride what you are comfortable with. The best way to do that is to get your license and go to a dealer and get to know them and take different bikes for a ride. Ride them around town and the highway for as long as you can, depending on how confident you are in your control of that machine. When you get to feeling more nervous about the possibility that they might think you have stolen it than you are nervous about crashing it, you may very well have found your first bike. Have fun.

    I have the base MT which I prefer looks wise over the XSR. Still pisses me of that it’s their only bike using the CP3 without cruise control but I digress. The quick shifter doesn’t work in the final 3-500 rpm’s. It’s like a safety feature. Not sure if it can be changed with a tune. I go by the counter going orange because you can set where it comes on. So I use that as a shift light since even in daylight you can see it clearly without looking down. Also I’ve said this in other videos about the new platform. I would suggest breaking in the exhaust over a few thousand miles before deciding if you want to change it. It gets pretty loud over time and does all the cracks and pops. I think changing the exhaust is more of an esthetic change than volume change. I personally don’t mind the look and I love the sound so I’d rather put my $1k somewhere else.

    As someone who owns a 23 MT09 also experience the lockout with the quick shifter very often pretty, frustrating not sure of the cause and that's my only complaint in the 7 months of ownership so far. I owned a gen1 FZ09 and this bike is leagues ahead of that one. I've actually experienced my 1st track day with it. Just because of the confidence this new platform gives.

    Owned exactly this bike for about 6 months, loved it so much. Got an offer i could simply not refuse and sold it. Put 8k kms on it in the 6 moths, daily driving, track use and fun rides. It was a complete package for me, the only downside was the suspension being a little soft for my taste. Ordered a 2024 triumph street triple 765rs to replace it being delivered in july 2024. The RS should be a fun replacement little bit more hp but less torqe and better suspension.

    • @DutchGasJunkie
      @DutchGasJunkie 8 місяців тому

      I’m comparing the two.
      RS - brakes,handling
      Mt - cheaper , torquier
      Which would be better for the highway ?

    • @DutchGasJunkie
      @DutchGasJunkie 8 місяців тому

      Engine wise the xsr would probably be easier for highway miles because it has more torque. However I think the RS is better because the seat is alot better. The xsr stock seat kinda sucks, after driving 600kms in a day your ass wil hurt on the xsr. The RS seat is alot wider so I think it will be better. Ill find out in july, I will sometimes have long highway trips since I wil be taking It on some long distance trips.

    As someone who’s had a 16’ XSR for about 5 years now, I lovveeee it. Was thinking about switching it out for the newer version but I much prefer the styling of the older years. Obviously all the new tech & upgrades are nice but not enough for me to justify the switch. Prolly gonna bite the ugly & expensive bullet & jump up to the 1290 Duke 🤷🏽

    I have the XSR 07 and love it. After seeing your review I'm so tempted to upgrade even though I've only had it for six months.

    I love that motor. The tourque/power comes on a lot like my old V 65 1100😢 Sabre.
    It's really nice to be able to pick a gear that will take you all the way through a corner and shoot you out oof the escape like you were showing in 4th and 3rd!!🎉rough

    If I were to get a first bike what should I go for I’ve ridden dirt bikes before I’m mechanically knowledgeable and understanding of limits of traction given weight and road conditions I’m not crazy on a dirt bike but I can hop on one have fun drift in the dirt, jump n all that I was thinking ab a super moto bc that seat position and the way it makes u play with ur body wieght on the bike is familiar but in my area it’s a lot of highway and I still want something faster than a super moto capable of more than sub 100mph speeds I don’t wanna go fast but I want that feeling that if I want it I got but idk I’m not scared of a sport bike but for my first bike I feel like I almost should go for a supermoto and take the trade off of fun for speed

    when you hit the limmiter the quick shifter dosent work.. you need to shit before ou hit the limiter and it will work every time (i have over 20k km on a 21 mt09 and it does the same)

      Ya I found a video where he explained that at rev limiter the throttle of the bike is going on and off and it has to be on for the qs so it won't work at very rev limit. I got the vcyclenut tune and he raised the revs just 250 rpm and that little extra seems to give me what I need to manage to shift on time because it hasn't happened since.

    Would you recommend this bike to a beginner? I'm looking for the right bike for me, and I love the look and reliability of Yamaha. I'm 5'7" and 158lb. I know that a 650 or 700cc should be enough for me to start, but I know that I'm gonna regret not buying this one. :(
