Sorry this video is so late! I had planned to release it at 2pm but we couldn’t use airdrop in the press centre because it was broken. So I lost 3 hours trying to find a workaround 😭
If it makes you feel better, it came out at 1pm in Canada 😜So in a way you were ahead of schedule.
My Qualifiers (In order)
1. Finland (no comment)
2.Israel (obvious qualifier)
3. Norway (running order wont effect it much)
4. Sweden (its not as much of a televote song as jury but will still do well)
5. Serbia (for me they are a sure qualifier, dont worry too much about Luke)
6. Moldova (Moldova are televote merchants, never fails them)
7. Portugal (My country, we could be an NQ tho tbh)
8. Croatia (it could finish anywhere imo so i just put it in the middle)
9. Switzerland (the rehearsals seem promising, but if he flops its an NQ)
10. Czechia (Most likely to be a shock NQ here icl, but i think it will go through)
11. Malta (very upbeat party song, could easily qualify over any of the borderline Qs)
12. Ireland (Same as Malta but just a bit weaker)
13. Latvia (my nuber one but i just cant see it getting the votes)
14. Azerbaijan (amazing song, tragic staging)
15. Netherlands (their Rehersals have been tragic almost certain NQ, they use to be a Q for me)
Top 5 are guaranteed for me, anyone else can Q or NQ

Last time I was this nervous about a semi-final was for Hatari in 2019. Fingers (and toes!) crossed for Serbia tonight. Ireland is a definite NQ and I'm not even bothered about that.😂

@@NEvita198 9/10, Had Georgia over Poland but bet against them in case I hadn't accounted for the negative momentum for Georgia enough (and I hadn't, evidently).
My 8 sure qualifiers: Sweden, Finland, Israel, Norway, Czechia, Serbia, Portugal, and Moldova.
The last spot is between Croatia, Latvia, and Switzerland. I think with Croatia & Swiz have the last remaining spots here.

You have more data and have watched more rehearsal clips while I only heard you talking about it, because I try to stay away from visuals until at least tonight or maybe even Saturday, however from what I've heard you say and based on how good the songs are, I'd make a one tweak to your prediction.
it sounds to me like Portugal falls a bit flat. While it might be a fun song, without some visuals to support her - and if it's just that couch from FdC - I'm not sure, I'd let her go through and if Latvia is the opposite to that, having a similarly interesting song but with way better staging, I'd flip those two.
Now I'm only unsure about Croatia. On the one hand, I also have a feeling, this could go through because of the craziness, but as you said, maybe all the crazy, all the party will have already been snacked by Käärijä and, if they go through, Malta. Also I still remember you telling us, normally only a maximum of 4 entries advance from the 1st half, so if 1-4 advance, 5-7 might not. If Croatia doesn't go through, I'm sure Switzerland has more of the edge to go through than the Netherlands, not only because of the potential staging but also since you did not mention difficulties with the vocals for Remo unlike for the Netherlands ^^
All in all, I think Croatia's crazy might be different enough though and we might be able to see 5 qualifiers from the first half for the first time, not only because we have a 100% televote semi-final, but also because personally I think the second half is filled with very, very strong songs, which are held away from each other by on average weaker songs. Therefore my final prediction would be: Sweden, Finland, Israel, Norway, Czechia, Moldova, Serbia, Latvia, Croatia and Malta.

I have the same prediction. I can't decide which one to put for 10th place. I'm really in between Switzerland, Latvia and Malta. Everytime I put someone else. In this comment I went for Switzerland. Btw I see Norway shock non-qualifier
As long as 🇫🇮🇷🇸🇭🇷🇸🇯🇲🇩 will qualify I'm happy, but I'd like to see 🇲🇹🇵🇹🇨🇿🇨🇭 in the final too.
Among the possible borderline qualifiers Serbia has Croatia and the diaspora in Switzerland, Croatia has Serbia, and Portugal has the diaspora in France, but Latvia, Malta and the Netherlands don't have anyone bc Estonia, Lithuania and Belgium are in the other semifinal and Malta's neighbour Italy just never cares about neighbour and friendly voting at all, so that could affect the result a little bit as well.
Qualifiers prediction: SE, FI, ISR, NOR, CZC, MOL, SWL, SER, CRO, NED. Sad for my own Portugal, but the song is not good enough to cover no real staging or elevation. We were one good prop away from being solid qualifiers.

Thanks for the analysis! Love hearing your thoughts on this insane Semi-Final. 😄I think i landed on mostly the same as you. I think I ended up swapping Latvia and Croatia.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but Latvia seems to have very big diehard fans (that converted me lol) They are worried about not getting through and actively trying to drum up support. I think the staging really helps, i find this song a LOT more engaging with the beautiful visuals than the music video which was how i first saw it. I think the seizers took me out of the song lol
Croatia on the other hand might just be too divisive to get through. Thinking back on my first viewing I was wowed but extremely confused lol That confusion could turn off people, also I agree about the first minute, might have helped to chop that down....

Ok.... this is hard but I think Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Israel, Finland, Czechia, Croatia, Portugal, Serbia, and Moldova will qualify, although I hope it's not true for Latvia...
Regarding Latvia. Being mostly an indie/alternative rock listener, I can confirm people who typically listen to these types of genres do not care for or watch Eurovision (I'm a huge Eurovision fan but I'm in the minority). Latvia's song lies on the more introspective part of the alternative spectrum (Radiohead, Placebo). For me, it's incredibly beautiful (and in my top 3) but sadly most Eurovision fans aren't used to this type of sound and people who would appreciate it don't watch the contest. I'm not surprised it didn't qualify, a song like this is easy to get lost, even though I was hopeful after watching their flawless performance and staging. If anything, Latvia going through would likely encourage other indie/alternative artists to compete in the future, something I would absolutely adore to see happening. I'm sad for them as band, you can tell how much heart and professionalism they and their delegation put into this, I'm sad for such a mesmerising song and performance not being rewarded, I'm sad for the lost opportunity to act as an open door for future bands in this genre.

I don’t understand why everyone says this is the tougher semifinal. The top 4 or 5 songs are fantastic, but I think the quality of the borderlines is better in Semifinal 2.
Agreed, this semi has great stand outs, but everything else is mid, average or straight up bad, semi 2 is stronger and more tough in my opinion.

This is really interesting to me. As soon as we eliminate the juries, you’ve probably put through (not intentionally) the 10 boppiest songs and eliminated the 5 slower songs. Love it!
Huge Eurovision fan here who follows all pre parties, national selections etc but with friends who don't follow anything-all of us from all ranges of knowledge and music taste agreed (to my shock) that Moldova was our stand out favourite. Now that they are through I think its time to actually see this as a threat. Until yesterday I blew them off completley but ended up voting for them last night. The consensus from the casual fan freinds was sweden was underwhelming and Finland got mixed reactions but people who voted for Israel and Switzerland ALSO voted for Moldova so the appeal in my freind group was WIDE. We also were voting from Germany, Ireland, and Rest of World options, and are based in Belgium so once they can vote in the final Moldova will probably get a few votes from Belgium as well. With that I see Moldova as a much bigger threat or top 5 than ever before.

The borderline qualifiers are really hard to predict, but I would say: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Moldova, Israel, Portugal, Malta, Serbia, Croatia & Czechia.
