The Wisdom of Odin is a vlog of my journey through Norse Paganism, a way to assist others along their journey, and a place to promote a positive image for all of paganism.
While I personally declare myself as a Norse Pagan, I speak on topics that also involve aspects of Asatru, Heathenry, and other pagan identities such as Slavic/Celtic/Germanic paganism.
The Wisdom of Odin is not associated or affiliated with any orginizations religious or politcial in nature. This channel/community is inclusive to all but is also non-political.
All gatherings held through the Wisdom of Odin and its extended community are private events held and organized by the members of the community. The only service the Wisdom of Odin provides is a place to connect with others of similar beliefs in the old ways.

Im a norwegian, raised Christian. But i never believed any of it. Once i went hiking up a tall mountain in the region i live in. And i spoke to Odin, i asked him for a sign. 5 seconds later, two crows came flying above me from behind, and out towards the beautuful view. I felt at peace.

I grew up a Christian, even when i tried to get into it, it always felt like those around me were feeling something i never felt a presence with. Few years back i stumbled across the Norse and it was like i found my calling, it felt so familiar for something i never heard of before, it was like finding an old friend that you didn't know even existed in the first place, that to me was the calling, so much made sense to why growing up i felt so lost and i couldn't be more happy than to have found my path, though people like us are so far in between, especially with me living in the middle of the bible belt i feel it's much better to walk alone on the right path than to be led down one that was never for me, and hopefully in time i do stumble across more people like myself, to anyone out there who walks alone in their beliefs as well, you won't be a lone wolf forever.

I had an outstanding experience with Odin yesterday morning around 5am. I was still awake, going to bed. Suddenly, a flock of crows began circling over my house and cawing like crazy. Once I realized what was happening, I jumped up and listened. The longer I listened, I began to realize certain things about my self and current life style. When I would admit something to myself or come to a realization, the crows would silence their cries. Soon after, they would caw again and I would receive another life changing thought cycle, and it repeated about 3 times until I finally fell asleep to the sounds of Odin.

shinto. not long after my mom (55 y.o.) asked us to help her research about
wicca, so we helped her and now she does a mix of christianity and wiccan. my sister wanted to stay with catholicism and she was the same loving sister as she always had been. so here we are an asatru, a buddhist shinto, a christian wicca and a catholic can live together nicely.

The biggest leap you have to take when walking away from the christian path is to get over the fear of being wrong. We all go through it, no matter how strong our connection to our new faith "What if I am wrong" the only way to banish that fear is to answer your ancestors. When you start to feel that connection to them, when you start to dig into the past. You will no longer have that fear. Best of luck in your journey!

I’ve found I didn’t have the same connection to the Christian religion as I do to Norse Paganism and as a member of the US military it can be hard to find the time to sit down, make my offerings, and speak to the Gods. But when I do I feel so very connected and I find that afterwards it’s so much better than how I felt after praying when I was Christian. When I was Christian it felt as if I were just talking at god but when I make my offerings and talk to the Gods I feel their presence and I find their blessings in every single aspect of life.

As one saying goes, Odin will not take a drink unless Loki has one offer to him too. So if you drink three cups of coffee in the morning, you could end up cracking jokes like Loki.

My personal experience with Freya, and with Odin were totally life altering. The first time Freya came to me...gave me the guidance I desperately needed. I ignored it. And I def felt her wrath and a total karmic response. After I got what I kinda deserved...That was the moment I chose to never look back and to fully commit to the gods. And especially to her. I remember once I had finished a long battle, trying to keep a relationship alive, and, it reached its inevitable end, I was broken, I felt as if nothing could fix me up, and I started to cry, felt my very soul tearing up, and I started listening to a song I had been listening for quite a long time, Helvegen - Wardruna, and in the one moment where they all shant together, I felt something different, different from the feeling of being sad and depressed, something diffferent from the chill of listening to a song with this theme, I felt literally as if all the old warriors of Valhalla were singing along, together, in grief to the loss of what had so much potential to be true love. I remember vividly feeling this presense, of thousands of heroes sitting on a long long table, and above all, I felt Odin by my side, as if I was having a small visit to the golden halls, I remember I looked at him, and he had a horn in his hand, I looked around and I saw all those heroes singing with their horns up, I was still sad and broken, but at the same time, I felt such a rush inside, I felt the presence, I felt... Everything, like I never did before, it was something unique, I felt as if, even broken and torn, I wasnt alone, and this battle was being sang across the great feast of the Gods.

I was like this force kept pulling me, kept telling me to come back to the old ways and come back home. Mind you my family is primarily Irish so I was shocked to see Viking lineage in my family at all. The more I’ve read and the more I’ve learned I’m feeling this pull getting stronger. In the Havamal you will see it says a gift demands a gift. But also the caution that it is better not to give than to give too much. What we should strive for is balance. Gift the gods and goddesses as they enrich your life. Give to Them because you choose to, not to expect something in return. I mean you could try to bribe Odin, I doubt you would be the first. :)

I found out about Paganism and Wicca in general when I went to Air Force basic, and one of the available religious services is Wicca. At first I was highly confused, and I was a Christian all my life. I felt to have such a service for something that isn't a religion from my abrahamic point of view felt ridiculous. When I graduated, and around half a year later my faith for the christian god just left me. Every time I prayed to him it felt hollow. Even before that I didn't go to church often, and I often in my head, even if I believed strongly, questioned if God actually cares. Every time I opened a bible I felt like I was just reading words on paper. Ultimately two things pushed me, one was ironically a biblical story. King Solomon, who was given all the knowledge by God, not only summoned spirits, but he acknowledged other faiths just as real as his own, and even partook in worshiping them too. I felt that it made no sense for such an outcome for someone who was supposed to have been given all knowledge by god, unless those faiths are just as legitimate. Then the latter was a calling. In my technical training for the military, I was walking back to my dorms from class when I felt it, just an innane calling, one from my Germanic ancestors to follow the right path. I already was highly interested in mythologies in general, but that was the final shove in the direction of Norse believe, which I initially looked with scrutiny, but over the past 6 or so months it has done more for me than the YHWY has done in my entire lifetime. I can proudly say Hail Odin now, the god I look up to the most as I feel the most in tune with him, and having met so many pagans on the way to this conclusion definitely helped. Thank you for this video, I shall have it Favorited to keep helping me stay on the right path. Honestly it was kinda hard putting my experience into words, I'm always better at speaking it out.

It is near impossible to describe love, its just something inside of us that we know is there. When we fall in love we just know it, when we have children there is a love we cannot describe. When the gods communicate with us it is through this same idea, we don't know why, we just know that its the gods. It requires no other explanation than that

Odin was the first to come to me and break me in then like the wanderer he is, he passed me to my Goddess, Morrighan. Lately Allfather has been back present in my life. Thats when I found your channel. Thank you for all you do! SKAL!!

Hello Jacob!!! I am delighted that I have stumbled along your channel ( even though I know the divine guided me here!! ) I was raised Christian and didn't know there were other religions or belief systems out there......I didn't know we could choose, or have a say in what our hearts truly believe in. Now that I have my own personal perspective on life, I can choose!! I have been drawn more to the Celtic/Welsh gods and goddesses, but I have already learned so much from some of the videos you have posted. I love to learn about your Norse Pagan beliefs but it doesn't call to me like the Welsh lineage does. I'm excited to watch more of your videos, to enjoy your knowledge of the history, and the beautiful scenery at the places you have been, and indeed find my own way to a belief system that resonates with my heart! ❤

I don't think I've ever commented on a video in my multiple years on UA-cam, but seeing you so passionate about your faith really moved me.

Dont think about it too much, because it can tear you apart mentally. Ask for signs. Wait for signs. Do what feels right. Life isnt so black and white, the best you can do is to make yourself happy

How does one differentiate a genuine calling from the gods with what could be ones own wishfull thinking? Some time ago when i was suffering from a very bad bout of ilness and feeling miserable about myself i spent a whole night shivering and delirious but awoke the next morning , still in bad pain but absolutely calm , clearly remmebering a conversation i had had with *something* All i remember was that the presense was very clearly a masculine one, and that it had told me to buck the fuck up, stop feeling sorry for myself, and start being a warrior. Ever since then ive found inner peace when faced with lifes hardships/
Now at first i thought i was speaking to God, as in the Christian god, but the whole tone of what i experienced didnt quite match up with the overall sentiment of the being i belive i spoke to. Im tempted to belive that this was some incarnation of the norrse war god my distant ancestors would have worshipped, but isnt it possible that i was just having a fever dream and essentially talking to myself?

It seems like you feel it might have been something more than a fever dream. Trust your gut. They can speak to us easier when our analytical defenses are down.

I wont lie, this video brought me to tears a bit. I feel because of my Christian upbringing ive ignored the old gods and the gifts they have given me and wrongfully thanked a false god. A god who apparently hates me because i was simply created. Ive noticed the crows when ive been given a gift i cannot explain and the the serenity when i watch lighting course through the sky. I want to meet my ancestors and drink and laugh. No religion will ever make me feel less lonely. I know the gods are with me. And i am with them. I feel they lead me to your channel. Thank you for what you do. May the gods bless you with many gifts. I start my journey today. At this very moment.
