That's at the intersection of steam I love. I obviously have an affinity for the locomotives, but as a kid there was a couple museums near me that focused on farm machinery, and one museum had a Waterloo steam tractor. I can actually smell this video... there is nothing like the smell of coal burning to heat water. That's a happy smell for me. 🙂Oh, and the Shay action! Such a cool and unique mode of translating that smell to traction. Love it!
Thanks for sharing the trip to Hesston! Those steam tractors are so fascinating to watch...and look like a real handful to operate! That's not a hobby for the faint of heart...or for someone with a small hobby budget! Just transporting them around from show to show must cost a fortune! But how cool to hear the steam whistles and all the rattling and banging associated with just running down a dirt road! 'Love the chain steering linkage! To think these were used on farms and industrial settings across the country. I'm sure you had a great day!
Ohh fantastic Austin ! What a great video , just love the connection of trains and tractors of which I’m fully engulfed in ( thanks to you of coarse ) and the fact that the flyer is 1/64 th has opened up two hobbies , do you have room on your layout for a 1/64 steam engine I found one for you ? My Gift , have a blessed day
I must make it a priority to make it to the Hesston Show!!! Thank You, Austin for sharing!!!

The smell of coal smoke and steam along with the frequent steam whistles is a fabulous experience to be sure!.

I love the enthusiasm! I have a little farm and there would be room for a traction engine.
Dy-No-Myte smoke output. Tremendous pulling power. How many cars?
SHOEEE!
