Decalcomanie is a prime example of Mamamoo's depiction of love, desire, passion and sex as dangerous, risky business and much more visceral and spicy than usual in pop songs, esp in kpop. Kissing scenes in kpop MVs have never been a thing. The original MV had the male actor grab Solar and push her up against the elevator wall to kiss her, which sparked immediate outrage and RBW quickly edited the MV to tone down Solar's kissing scene. Solar said she didn't have a problem with how the scene was originally depicted and I've always suspected it was her idea. She tends to push the envelope and take things to the limit and I think she'd see the elevator scene as an expression of the feeling of being out of control in a moment of unbridled passion. I'm not so sure how much of that live version was really live. Imo there are lots of better live vids of Decalcomanie but as you said many of them would get blocked. Check out some of the comeback performances on the tv music shows when you get the chance. There's a suits version and one where they're in sparkly red and silver outfits and one where they do the mirror dance live. I have no idea why they refer to an orange colored painting unless orange has a symbolic meaning in Korean art that we're unaware of. Was Delacroix the artist you were thinking of?
I think you're right I might've been thinking of Delacroix, but yeah I could totally see Solar doing that and pushing it to the limit. I'll have to do some digging on the non blocked live versions, but I also think there still may be a way to do some of the music shows...just not over here on YT sadly TT
@@SylverReacts Decalcomanie is one of MMM's most iconic songs and imo it's one of the all time great kpop songs. Kissing and straight forward spicy has never been a thing in Kpop. However, mamamoo can do this because from the very start, their fandom are mainly grown females (like 97%). Kpop fans are usually get offended when people say they are young but once I left a comment under a video (of Black Pink, Straykids and Seventeen) about age, I got a bunch of reply from other Kpop fans and they said all said they are like 9 - 13 years old. As someone in my 20s, I feel really weird. This is also the reason why you almost never see moomoo involve in fan wars. We feel weird arguing with kids.
XD sure, but even implying it is enough to get some fans really worked up about it, so it's cool that Moomoos seem to be pretty chill about the whole thing.
@SylverReacts oh you're wrong abt being chill lmao did u know this was a reuploaded mv? 🤣 the mv was was found "problematic" by moomoos, esp. the elevator scene in which Solar was seen to be "forced" to kiss, insinuating "dating violence", so bec of the complaints everyone did, rbw quickly edited it out and reuploaded the mv lmao
Hi! Quick tips for Mamamoo reaction. For the live version, you could search for their Concert performance or Festival performance, if not their MR remove versions are good too. Mamamoo always sound the best when there is a crowd (they reflect the crowd energy and go extra high). I really appreciate your effort of finding the live version for each of your reaction.
The color orange means passion I'm pretty sure. As for the live, it doesn't really hold water to their original performances imo because it was just an online concert version. I recommend watching their music show performances and even MR removed stuff, because they sang every single adlib and high notes of this song, and it's probably their most impressive performances to date.

Decalcomanie: great song, kind of discomfiting video. I have to say, I actually cringe a little during Moonbyul's scenes with the guy. Regardless of any other considerations, it is just not her (self-professed) style. I also have to wonder, coming as it does after Um Oh Ah Yeh and Girl Crush, whether the aggressive 'straight' tone of the video was promoted by someone (or some) in the chain of command as an effort to control public perception of the group. (I get some sense of that as well from the video for You're The Best, as kind of a companion piece to Um Oh Ah Yeh.) In any event, there are a number of very good live performances of the song, many of which, as you note, would possibly be blocked if you tried to react to them. There is an Mnet Comeback Stage, which is neat because they are all wearing tuxes, but (unlike the MV) each is wearing a different style of tux, which seems to me to reflect their evolving four-individuals-together theme. Also, you can find a video--and I'm not sure exactly what live performance this was--identified as 'Live Moosical 2017,' which shows in particular how easily and comfortably Hwasa can shine on stage and charm an audience, and it's just generally a fun performance! Cheers

I can't watch the mv. Idk i get secondhand embarassment for some reason. I prefer the dance version. But too bad that the mirror dance was not in the dance ver mv. The mirror dance is so iconic.
Have you ever heard of putting 'decals' on things? Like Cars, Boats, Business doors, etc? There is no special effect at all in their dancing scenes, just really great partnered dancing. There is no mirror. That is simply a big frame in the middle of the room. On the side of the room where Wheein and Hwasa take their turns dancing, there is a window that looks out to a yard. On the other side of the room where Solar and MoonByul take turns, there is no window (it looks like maybe there are a couple of Elevator doors...?). The pairs are simply mirroring each other in the choreography through the open, empty frame. What a GREAT excuse to go back and watch that AMAZING video all over again, right? "FOR SCIENCE!!!" :)
This MV made the fans felt betrayed for some reason.. That's me, I'm fans XD I never imagined that i would see them kiss a man T_T but its a relief when it's confirmed that the guys are ... not straight..... hehe
