Superman and Lois is what I've wanted a live action Superman adaption to be.
    Hopeful, but not cheesy
    Mature, but not gritty.
Tyler and Bitsie are killing it as Superman and Lois and if this season remains solid, then they could become my all time favourite Superman and Lois

You hit it on the nose, John. One of the greatest struggles that Superman faces is who gets to be saved since he can’t be everywhere at the same time. The choice that he makes can have dire consequences. This last episode was able to demonstrate that without saying it outright.

This is my favorite Superman show and favorite cast since Dean Cain and Terry Hatcher in Lois and Clark. It's so respectful to every previous version from George Reeves to Tom Welling to Henry Cavill, with Easter eggs all over. It understands so well that Clark's struggle has always been trying to balance the fact he's a demigod who feels responsible for the world because of his powers, with the fact that all he really wants is to have a normal life with his family and friends. This is the first time IMO since Lois and Clark or Smallville that they've just nailed stories around the premis that Clark is who he is, Superman is what he can do. My only fear now is that they're going to find a way to ruin it going forward.

You're right if u want to do Superman right u have to give him personal struggles, ones that he can't just punch away. Also this is a Superman story we've never seen before with him already a husband and father. Cause we've seen the beginning of Superman's career and the start of Lois and Clark relationship many, MANY times before so it's interesting to see what happens after that now.

I think it's generally a great take on the character, didn't do anything too new, but instead has aspects of previous interpretations so that he feels familiar no matter who your Superman is. You can look at him and say, yeah, that's MY Superman. He's familiar. He's charming and optimistic like Reeve and Routh, he's got the balance of human and god that Welling had, really selling that he can do what he does because of his Kryptonian roots, but he does it because of his humanity, and he's got that feeling of responsibility and just, majesty that Cavill brought to the character.

Man.... I really liked Grimm as well. That show is the reason why I was immediately on board with the casting of Lois Lane in the Arrowverse. Superman being the god damn SUPERMAN is a huge reason why this show is great but I think another reason is this show gets rid of most plot points from other Superman shows. Superman being married, a father, and trying to balance being the greatest hero of Earth is something that's never been explored in live action or animated media.
BTW, Superman being THE MOTHER F'ING SUPERMAN is one of the many reasons why the Snyder Cut is awesome. I kind of felt bad for Steppenwolf at one point.

As far as I’m aware it was Tom Welling that enforced the “no tights, no flights” bullshit rule instead of doing his job and doing what he was paid for, they planned to have him fully become Superman by the 5th/6th season but had to abandon that and instead find other ways to further the story, but it just fell off after that. They should’ve either ended the series officially after the 6th season or replaced Welling with an actor who would wear the suit.

I am really enjoying this new show. As a side note I rewatched Smallville S02E01 after watching the 3rd episode of Superman & Lois and it feels like a good sequel to Smallville. It doesn't have the same feels as Smallville yet, but maybe it will get there. I don't care what anyone says, but I loved and still love watching Smallville. It was fun, it had good actors, good weekly stories and good over arcing stories. I hope this new show gets a have a good run. This feels like how a Superman show should be. I also now really want to go back and watch Lois & Clark. I'm glad to see John finally coming around on Tyler Hoechlin's Superman and liking him but I need to explain this yet again for John , The Earth Prime Superman jobber Superman as you call me was a supporting character in Supergirl and The Arrowverse Crossover crossovers Elseworlds and Crisis On infinite Earths was the way he was written bad yes but he was depowered when your a guest character on a tv show for Superhero TV you are not going to be fully powered I did not hear people complain when The Flash was on Supergirl oh he's not The Flash etc. etc. I mean come on John love you but use common sense here Tyler's Earth Prime Superman again a supporting character alright. But the Superman & Lois Superman is the character true to the character and for me Tyler's Superman is the best Superman live action since Christopher Reeve and the best Clark Kent since Smallville and I'm sorry he's a better Superman / Clark Kent than your boy John Henry Cavill just my take though.

Not exactly, I would recommend skipping alot of the first season ( the monster of the week might have worked back then , but now watching it back to back ... yeah it seems boring . ) there are videos on UA-cam that can help you decide which episodes to skip and which to watch .

How is not being the Alpha anymore the same thing as being everyone's bitch? The Supergirl series is about someone becoming her own person instead of being a pale reflection of a more famous cousin.
How is that a bad thing?
Superman & Lois blatantly ignores that by calling Superman the most important person on the planet.
In most Superman stories I know Kal-El doesn't see himself as the Alpha, but as someone who's there to help. That's what makes him likable. Kingdom Come is an exception. In that story, it backfires terribly. There are also a few where he becomes Earth's dictator.
How is that a good thing?
Don't get me wrong, I like Superman & Lois, but it shouldn't be about Superman having the biggest dick. Otherwise, the series really would be mainly about adolescent power fantasies.

I mean it's how people like general lane sees superman as . Clark just considers himself as a helper , a friend not a messiah.. he doesn't consider himself above humanity he consider himself one of them .
If anybody views themselves as alpha it is Edge , whose worldview is totally different from that of Clark .

@@maliquematthews903 No, it's because they gave him something we as normal people can relate too. He has a family and he is struggling with taking care of his family while also being a superhero. That is what makes this Superman interesting and relatable. However, I feel that in general as a superhero he is boring because he was made to be virtually perfect. John seems to be content that he constantly has to beat everyone he fights and that if he doesn't then he is not Superman and therfore he has been "neutered". That to me makes a boring superhero.

I never understood this criticism about Superman. How is he boring? I've always thought Superman is the most humane superhero in comics. That endeared him so much to me as a kid, and still does as an adult.

There is no reason why anyone would watch this Superman series when there is Smallville which has more interesting Characters and Stories. The girls are hotter and with great personalities.

Both are great shows. The one is when Clark was young and the other is about his family and the issues Superman has.. to save the world and to be at the same time with his family. Different stories hater.
And the girls are hotter? Wtf? 🤮

I was a little uncertain in parts of the first episode, mostly because I was thinking, "The 'hero struggles with balancing the responsibility of superhero-ing with his obligations to family/friends/work/etc.' thing has been done, and you're not gonna find a better poster child for that trope than Spiderman." But I think this version works in part because it brings together the best elements of the character. It establishes his marriage to Lois, who is necessary as both foil and complement to the Superman character, and shows us how much they both respect and inspire each other. It brings him back to Smallville, immersing us in his small-town farm-boy roots. And it gives him a pair of teenage sons.
It's easy to make Superman struggle by giving him power-creep villains (and I'm sure this show will have its share of them), and telling us he wants to save humanity because he's a Good Guy with a Heart of Gold, and all that. But showing us that, as an integral part of his character?
His sons are as different as chalk and cheese, sometimes normal and sometimes special, sometimes easy and sometimes difficult, and he doesn't always know what's the right decision to make. But he loves them; he wants to uplift them; he wants to give them the best chance at a good, safe, normal life as possible; and he wants to help them be the best versions of himself that he can. His sons are a microcosm for humanity. They help show us how much Superman cares - not just about them, but about us.
