I loved the first two seasons of Arrow & The Flash but Superman & Lois has them beat by a mile, I like when these type of shows treat its audience with intelligence, they write it for adults, yes there’s the kids stuff but that doesn’t take up more then a few minutes an episode on average, they don’t dumb down the characters for the convenience of plot which I love, I’m thrilled that this show is treating Superman with the respect he deserves.
There are still 5-6 episodes of Superman and Lois to come. How can you remotely say what's better when it's not finished? Sticking the landing is the hardest of any TV season.

Yes, in my opinion it’s the best CW show ever! They went back to basics and gave us a very ‘traditional’ Superman flick, but also gave us something we’ve never seen before on screen by throwing in the family element and exploring a Superman balancing his responsibilities as a superhero and a husband and father Loved it!!
Superman & Lois to me is in the same category as Batman Begins & Daredevil. Absolutely groundbreaking. Batman Begins grounded comics stories to feel like normal cinema, some version of reality. Daredevil managed this level of quality on a smaller budget and over more hours of quality content. Superman & Lois has taken the best of superman comics storylines, remixed it so there are some surprises for fans (Captain Luthor anyone??) But the level of realism has actually gone beyond Batman Begins and Daredevil.. Daredevil has believable human sentences and reactions from Matt,Karen and Foggy - Foggy gets appropriately pissed off with Matt letting him down and takes a realistic time to forgive it. With Superman and Lois I've realised they go a step further, these are another step towards being actual human characters because even as we get to really know them , their reactions *surprise* us and then we learn the complicated past that lead up to it.. Who thought a TV show that's some spiritual successor to smallville and Lois & Clark would have a heart wrenching scene where Lois explains to her son about her fears for him given the advanced pregnancy level she was at with a developing girl when she had a miscarriage. This is amazing television. I don't know how Arrow & flash are even in the same sentence. Their characters are over the top like something out of the Bold and The beautiful and when they aren't this it's either campy villain stuff or tough guy posturing that's like 90s Van Damme stuff. The conversation about Superman & Lois should not be within the confines of CW, the question is, is this the best comics adapted television *of all time* That may sound over the top but look at attempts to get Superman right on the big screen over the past 15 to 20 years to see what a triumph this show is.
The JLA show is honestly the best justice league representation on screen we’ve ever had( besides injustice video game). That Bruce Tim animated universe is honestly what I think of when I think of the real dc characters on screen. I sort’ve see the DcEU as sort’ve an else worlds type of things because other than WW they’re not really what I think of when I think of those characters
Superman and Lois Season 1 is, for sure, the best Arrowverse season...in a while, but (imo) by no means the best Arrowverse season first or otherwise. Recently, I've revisited Arrow and Flash's first seasons and was really blown away by how good they were at their best! I think the reason a lot of people are touting the praises of Superman and Lois is one part the stepped-up effects and the other the mere fact that it is a good SUPERMAN show. That being said, it's really getting more and more impressive, so we'll see!
The way Kevin Feige jumped down a reporter's throat for suggesting the Netflix characters weren't popular says a lot. He also told reporters during WandaVision that those characters are on his board and available, if desired. He's clearly open to using "sloppy seconds" if he's pulling Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina in. So the Netflix characters have a natural spot in the upcoming multiverse stories.
It's way better than the rest of those shows. Actually understands Superman better than media has in the last 2 decades. Flash season 1 was great but it wasn't this good. Every other show either had a trash first season and kept being trash or became good. Arrows problem is that they just made him batman and green arrow is too good of a character to do that too. Smallvilles green arrow was different yet similar but always good whereas arrow just made him a more boring Batman

Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl had very strong first seasons and went downhill soon thereafter. I really hope Superman and Lois doesn't go downhill after the first season.
I loved Supergirl’s first season. Calista Flockhart made that show. Also I think it was one of the only seasons that focused on Supergirl. The issue I have had with Supergirl was that it felt like it was more focused on the supporting characters like Alex and Lena than Supergirl.
Here's a thought: let's wait for Superman and Lois to actually finish its first season before comparing to other COMPLETED first seasons. Recency bias is a hell of a drug.
I can sort’ve understand the critics from the first question, Falcon and the Winter soldier to me felt more like a 6 hour movie that they just cut into 6 episodes and Wandavision and Loki feel more television in terms of ongoing stories.
Arrow and Flash had strong season 1s and So far there's a lot of hype for Superman and Lois. But the finale will determine it's fate. But I have faith in the Finale after Learning Tom Cavanaugh the Reverse Flash/Harrison Wells himself will be directing the season 1 finale.

I think the book in Arrow and Reverse Flash was better but I love Superman and Lois’s depiction of a child dealing with being the son of Superman and having his powers.

As a Christopher Reeve, 6 year old era fan, I've really liked the S&L series, so far. It brings Superman back to the "Boy Scout" good guy that I grew up watching in the 70's with the movies, and the Old George Reaves TV series. He's Superman, but he's still a Man with many of the same fallibilities that we all have. I really think Tyler Hoechlin does a pretty good job of portraying that George and Christopher Superman that he's always meant to be. It's part of the same reason I like The Flash series. Barry if able to make mistakes and face the consequences of his actions. Their Super Heroes, and Super Human, at the same time.
Even the first cgi films like Jurassic Park knew to combine practical effects with the cgi to make the effects seem more real and believable to the audience
SUperman & lois is the best thing on CW atm, the flash is the only other one worth watching but i can see it is running out of gas the way arrow did at the end.
Honestly, the first season of Black Lightning, the flash, Arrow as well as Superman and Lois are pretty much as good as each other. But I might like Arrow season 1 the best ,followed by the Flash season 1.
Flash season 1 is still the best in my opinion. The RF storyline was extremely well paced and they punctuated it with loads of fun first time villains. S&L is probably a close 2nd so far.
2nd to last question was referring to the Thanos in Endgame that traveled to the future, and did not return to the past because the Avengers killed him.
Its unfair to compare Superman & Lois with the current CW shows. All arrowverse in CW were once gems if not bigger than gems. CW had amazing line up of shows. Personally I think its time for CW to end all arrowverse shows. Arrow started it all, and with when it ended the rest are also ending. Supergirl has ended, black lightning ended. I highly doubt batwoman is gonna survive. Flash quality is very down.
Supergirl hasn't ended. We still have half a season to go after Superman & Lois finish their season. Oh and I believe Batwoman has already been green lit for a season 3.

All the shows have great first seasons. My first season order personally is Flash, Arrow, Superman, Stargirl, Legends, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Batwoman but to each their own.
John, you keep saying "these events have played out millions of times". Where are you getting this from? The whole point of the "sacred timeline" is that there can be only one timeline where things play out once. If something happens in that timeline that wasn't supposed to happen (according to the TVA) then THE timeline is reset to follow the "correct" course., or that's what we have been told so far in Loki. The problem with this is that it introduces so many logical inconsistencies with what happened originally in Avengers and later in Endgame, as one of your viewers pointed out. Just cos you don't follow the logical argument does not make it invalid.
They haven't clarified it for sure, but I took their explanation to mean there's still a multiverse (that's somewhat confirmed by Endgame) but the TVA makes sure they don't create wildly different realities by holding them all to the sacred timeline.

That's certainly what Miss Minutes says in the introductory video (I just watched it again to confirm). The fact that Endgame suggests there is a multiverse is one of the many logical inconsistencies I was referring to in my original post.

OK. If every thing was supposed to happen, then how come none of the future Avengers remember that it should or did happen the way it played out? EX. Did Steve know he would eventually go back in time with the Infinity Stones at the beginning of the Time Heist? Was it also his plan to sit on the sidelines with Peggy and not lift a finger and let everything play out so he could met up with Sam and Bucky in the future at the bench?
S and L is a lot better than anything the arrowverse has produced in years. No where near as good as Arrow/Flash seasons 1-2, but leagues better than anything sense. Star-girl also is not bad.
Their are different categories in the Marvel and DC comics Theirs superheros (with highted super abilities) Super beings (that have super powers) Anti heros (in between on the fence heroes) Villains Super Villains Ect.
What I want to know.....If everything in the world is supposed to happen, if everything we do is something some time lord has already written in stone for us to do, Like me Typing this right now, if it's something That is written in stone that I must do in order for the time line to stay in tact, WHERE DOES FREE WILL COME IN? IF what we do is what we were meant to do, where does free will come in. What if I was supposed to write a novel, but I chose not to write the novel because I didn't want to, what would happen. Would I be arrested by some time cop and sent to my death because I CHOSE not to write a novel that some time lord had written in stone that I would write? That isn't right or fair. We should have the choice to do what we want, not because it's written in some time lords journal that we are supposed to do it, but because we want to do, Or not do it.....Our choice, Not some time lords choice.
If John considers something a "logic problem," he'll ignore any attempt to convince him otherwise. If a viewer writes in about a logic problem, he'll explain it away because a character said a catch-all line in case people brought up related plot holes.
You have Supergirl to thank for Superman and Lois even existing. If Tyler Hoechlin's Superman wasn't well-received on Supergirl, then CW doesn't move forward with this new show. Thankfully he was well received regardless of John's opinion of him.

I think this was a show concept they came up with and that the question was whether or not to even use Hoechlin and this Lois cause they were so poorly received There was talk it was gonna be Brandon Routh (which I would have loved too) but I think they used Crisis to rewrite the characters and still have the stretch to appeal to CW arrowverse fans by saying it's connected. It feels nothing like the other shows to me. Flash season 1 was really promising despite Eddie, Iris and Joe talking like soapie characters.. Eobard/Wells and Barry made that first one good. The other arrowverse shows to me only get by because they have comedy to offset how dicey the drama is, how overwrought and unbelievable it is and how no human would actually utter most of the lines

@Ben Holmes I wasn't that absolutist. superman is a mega popular character and to me even a 50/50 mixed reaction is a poor result for a bankable character. I don't know if I came off sounding smartass or something but it was just my best read on the situation cause of reviews, UA-cam reactions and also superman forums like the subreddits, all the reeve/Routh/Cavill fans were out but there didn't seem to be many Hoechlin fans in the making where there are LOADS now saying he is their new number 1. My opinion is he was weirdly portrayed in the crossovers. He was OK earlier on in Supergirl I thought This show is my new favourite comics TV and just usurped daredevil S1 for me

Couple weeks and couple episodes of Loki later I know but.... I can see what the guy was talking about with Loki the Avengers and the cosmic cube.... The Avengers from endgame going into the past to the first movie, if that was supposed to happen, then the cube should have been knocked close to the past version of Loki. Unless during the fight the cube WASN'T supposed to get knocked close to Loki, which if the TVA did time normally they would have just nabbed the alternate Loki and reset the timeline from when he grabbed it. I assume take have an opinion on this either way, just saying I can see where the guy is coming from with asking the question. And of course what we know now four episodes in all this is in question. Maybe whomever is pulling the strings of the TVA just said that what the Avengers did with their time traveling, that it was supposed to happen, probably doesn't actually want to deal with the avengers just yet or at all so they told the TVA not to deal with the Avengers because it 'was supposed to happen'
I completely agree with you John about charlie cox. I think his Daredevil was perfect and I would love for him to continue but Fiege is going to want his own version of the character without the Netflix baggage, sadly.

A Better World is a masterpiece in my opinion. The fight scene with the two Batmans that becomes a philosophical debate is brilliant.

Nope, Supernatural has a better first season. The first 5 seasons of Supernatural are arguably the best CW has ever done.
Supernatural had a GODLIKE first season. John showing up by the end made it crazy and there was real stakes

SUperman & lois is the best thing on CW atm, the flash is the only other one worth watching but i can see it is running out of gas the way arrow did at the end.

Honestly, the first season of Black Lightning, the flash, Arrow as well as Superman and Lois are pretty much as good as each other. But I might like Arrow season 1 the best ,followed by the Flash season 1.

Flash season 1 is still the best in my opinion. The RF storyline was extremely well paced and they punctuated it with loads of fun first time villains. S&L is probably a close 2nd so far.

Its unfair to compare Superman & Lois with the current CW shows. All arrowverse in CW were once gems if not bigger than gems. CW had amazing line up of shows.
Personally I think its time for CW to end all arrowverse shows. Arrow started it all, and with when it ended the rest are also ending. Supergirl has ended, black lightning ended. I highly doubt batwoman is gonna survive. Flash quality is very down.
Supergirl hasn't ended. We still have half a season to go after Superman & Lois finish their season. Oh and I believe Batwoman has already been green lit for a season 3.

All the shows have great first seasons. My first season order personally is Flash, Arrow, Superman, Stargirl, Legends, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Batwoman but to each their own.

John, you keep saying "these events have played out millions of times". Where are you getting this from? The whole point of the "sacred timeline" is that there can be only one timeline where things play out once. If something happens in that timeline that wasn't supposed to happen (according to the TVA) then THE timeline is reset to follow the "correct" course., or that's what we have been told so far in Loki. The problem with this is that it introduces so many logical inconsistencies with what happened originally in Avengers and later in Endgame, as one of your viewers pointed out. Just cos you don't follow the logical argument does not make it invalid.
They haven't clarified it for sure, but I took their explanation to mean there's still a multiverse (that's somewhat confirmed by Endgame) but the TVA makes sure they don't create wildly different realities by holding them all to the sacred timeline.
@@ninjafartmonkey3153 My understanding was that the entire point of the TVA is to ensure that there is no multiverse, and that the single "sacred" timeline is kept intact. That's certainly what Miss Minutes says in the introductory video (I just watched it again to confirm). The fact that Endgame suggests there is a multiverse is one of the many logical inconsistencies I was referring to in my original post.
They tried to up production quality, but CW PQ was fine. It's a mess of a DRAMA BOMB!

OK. If every thing was supposed to happen, then how come none of the future Avengers remember that it should or did happen the way it played out? EX. Did Steve know he would eventually go back in time with the Infinity Stones at the beginning of the Time Heist? Was it also his plan to sit on the sidelines with Peggy and not lift a finger and let everything play out so he could met up with Sam and Bucky in the future at the bench?

If John considers something a "logic problem," he'll ignore any attempt to convince him otherwise. If a viewer writes in about a logic problem, he'll explain it away because a character said a catch-all line in case people brought up related plot holes.
Another "catch-all line" is when Doctor Strange talked about "the only way" in Infinity War.

You have Supergirl to thank for Superman and Lois even existing. If Tyler Hoechlin's Superman wasn't well-received on Supergirl, then CW doesn't move forward with this new show. Thankfully he was well received regardless of John's opinion of him.

There was talk it was gonna be Brandon Routh (which I would have loved too) but I think they used Crisis to rewrite the characters and still have the stretch to appeal to CW arrowverse fans by saying it's connected.
It feels nothing like the other shows to me. Flash season 1 was really promising despite Eddie, Iris and Joe talking like soapie characters.. Eobard/Wells and Barry made that first one good. The other arrowverse shows to me only get by because they have comedy to offset how dicey the drama is, how overwrought and unbelievable it is and how no human would actually utter most of the lines

@Ben Holmes I wasn't that absolutist. superman is a mega popular character and to me even a 50/50 mixed reaction is a poor result for a bankable character.
I don't know if I came off sounding smartass or something but it was just my best read on the situation cause of reviews, UA-cam reactions and also superman forums like the subreddits, all the reeve/Routh/Cavill fans were out but there didn't seem to be many Hoechlin fans in the making where there are LOADS now saying he is their new number 1.

Couple weeks and couple episodes of Loki later I know but.... I can see what the guy was talking about with Loki the Avengers and the cosmic cube.... The Avengers from endgame going into the past to the first movie, if that was supposed to happen, then the cube should have been knocked close to the past version of Loki. Unless during the fight the cube WASN'T supposed to get knocked close to Loki, which if the TVA did time normally they would have just nabbed the alternate Loki and reset the timeline from when he grabbed it. I assume take have an opinion on this either way, just saying I can see where the guy is coming from with asking the question. And of course what we know now four episodes in all this is in question. Maybe whomever is pulling the strings of the TVA just said that what the Avengers did with their time traveling, that it was supposed to happen, probably doesn't actually want to deal with the avengers just yet or at all so they told the TVA not to deal with the Avengers because it 'was supposed to happen'
I completely agree with you John about charlie cox. I think his Daredevil was perfect and I would love for him to continue but Fiege is going to want his own version of the character without the Netflix baggage, sadly.

Superman and Lois is kind of separate from Supergirl and the arrowverse, Clark and Lois weren't written the best on that show but its completely different on Superman and Lois which is written so much better but you don't need to watch Supergirl in order to watch superman and Lois
