Interestingly Nemo was originally supposed to be polish, but the publisher convinced Jules Verne to keep it ambiguous because the books were selling well in Russia, which had fucked Poland over. The later indian origin was seemingly completely voluntary on Vernes part though.
@@maxmustermann9058 that came up in my research but when I tried tracing back the claims it all came back to the same article. In no way am I saying it’s false but I couldn’t find enough verifiable sources to mention it in the video. It’s an interesting note regardless
