this was my favorite dc game as a kid. i really regret getting rid of my dc mainly because of this game. pretty sure i traded my dc and probably 10 of the best dc games all in for one ps2 game i wanted or something stupid. i had this, soul calibur, code veronica, skies of arcadia, re2 and 3, dino crisis, and more i can't think of, all gone for one game i probably traded in a week later. been kicking myself ever since.

This game, other than the level design(mainly how the sword clangs with narrow passageways) and the lacking combat system, especially the themes, dialogue, voice acting, the cutscenes, the music, the cool new designs for the monsters, and the overall polish of the game is amazing. It's beautiful really, how the graphics don't have to bound the game's quality, and personally, I really like the PS1/Dreamcast aesthetic.

This was my first and only introduction into the Berserk series and I didn't even realize there was a manga or anime for years after this. Can you imagine that? That would be like starting Star Wars with the Holiday Special and then not watching New Hope, Empire or Return for a decade after. But thats basically what happened with me and this game

Yo this is crazy high-tech for 1999. Graphics are sharp. The audio mix is incredible. The voice acting, sound efx, and the music are top notch. Good story and great art direction as well. Just played this game. Got to the Zodd boss fight, got bodied by him for the better part of an hour before I finally beat him, then the game freezes on the next stage. I reset, and it starts me at Zodd again. Fuck. Well, I power through Zodd AGAIN, get to the next stage, and it freezes again. And that’s where I left it, because I truly don’t want to have to do that Zodd fight AGAIN just on the off chance that it works this time.
can someone help me i try to load the game,, after saving,. a message appears on the screen saying that the save was successful. but, when i choose the (load) option in the menu, the game always starts from the beginning help!!!
Well that sucks, it's the only dreamcast emulator i haven't tried so i can't really help. Doesn't reicast have quick saves ? Try using that instead of in-game saves.

This game came out WAY before the show was brought to the states. I bought this game in 99 on Dreamcast. Saw Vol 1 of the show on DVD in Suncoast video in 2002, recognized Guts on the cover from the game, bought the DVD instantly. Got home, watched it, and realized what the glossary in the game was talking about in regards to Griffith and the others. Been of fan ever since. But NONE of the voices from the anime did the voices in the game and vice versa.

I think this game got me grounded once for swearing out loud my first time. Watching your buddy play gave me ptsd. That wall collision was the worst. This is a game that’ll make expert players look horrible.
This game's story, voice acting, cutscene direction, and soundtrack were utterly amazing.. However, the graphics even for the time weren't all that good and the action was far too repetitive (needed to have finishing blows/ executions of some kind).
