So the reason the textures in the distance are default is because of mipmapping - also, the textures present in this version are actually an existing texture pack from all the way back in 2011! An individual on the MCArchives discord server identified them a year or two back, but I’m not sure what the pack is called now. They were not present in the original beta, they were modified in by whoever the person who leaked this version were. We know this because there’s actually footage of this version of the game floating around - this was the very same version that a select few folks got the chance to play at an event (E3? Minecon? I don’t remember.) several months prior to the game’s launch which is also likely how the leaker got their hands on it in the first place. I remember when this dropped, it was April or late February of 2012. You bet your ass I was booting up my JTAG 360 and playing Minecraft several months before anyone else had it available!
@@sleepydudespillowyou need a disc copy and make sure you don’t have Xbox live on your 360 and after a while of going backs and fourth through the arcade version and disc version the arcade version will downgrade to the original beta version

Fun fact, the Xbox arcade edition of minecraft used to have volumetric lighting. I'm assuming it was removed because they had started trying to convert the game to the current windows bedrock edition, but idk if they were even making bedrock yet.
I believe that pocket edition *was* in dev. For those who don't know, Pocket edition would become Bedrock (imo the worst Minecraft version) which would replace the Legacy Console editions.
That doesn't make sense, Console Edition and Bedrock have no relation beyond there having been a promotion where owning CE gave you a free digital copy of BE(The promotion ran out for everything besides PS4 without any warning tho, which kinda sucks.)
This actually was based on beta 1.6.6, not 1.0. It was probably easier since they had to build the whole game/engine from the ground up while staying faithful to the original
i think something you forgot to mention is that there's multiple beta posted there, with the others not being modified with that texture pack, though a few versions ahead. it may be worthwhile to check out the differences.
i played this when it came out on 360! i completely forgot until you mentioned the time limit! i dont think the textures were buggy though on 360 so maybe thats an emulator issue!
I remember playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 when i was a bit younger, I miss those times I remember the last update that was ported on the Xbox 360 was the 1.13 update. I remember hating split screen lol
There’s a lot more you can do in Xenia beyond just license masking. You can adjust the game’s frame rate without causing issues like you might with other games, and you can also change the internal resolution. I can show you how to do this in your Discord.
those textures aren't made by them. It's actually an old texture pack that i used to play with called, "City Life", i think... (Haven't played in a while.)
i dont know if anyone else commented this but these textures remind me a lot of a city texturepack on xbox 360/one edition. I remember using it a lot on creative, tho this does look a tiny but different from it, things like the torches and doors still looks the same! I might boot up my xbox later and see if I can find the name of it. Maybe they were testing texture packs this early in development? If so, thats nuts and some cool history!
7:08 fun fact, in the old console editions (at least when i used to play on the 360) you could look at a map to see coordinates. And im pretty sure bedrock was at level 0. (Im going based off the fact i remember that before the cave update on bedrock you would have this wierd overlay around the edges when going under bedrock. They never fixed the overlay so when you go below 0 you still get a wierd tunnel effect around tour screen.)
I recently tried playing this version and two problems arose: 1 i couldn't plug in my controller (probably because it was a ps4 controller) and 2 every time i would try loading in a world everything would just be a beige/sky like void; heve you run into those issues and have an idea on how to fix them and, if yes, i believe many people, like me, would appreciate a tutorial on how to set the version (maybe even the emulator) up
0:35 okay, lemme nerd out a bit, until recently there has been no PS5 version of Minecraft, it has backwards compatability with the PS4 version, but no PS5. Plus that saying means no exclusives, not no games, the PS5 has alot of cross-platform games

I think the textures were like this because they were probably creating the first prototypes, and while Mojang didn't send the original package, they created some kind of placeholder. But thats just a theory, a Game Theory.
There's actually a few other beta versions documented, but I believe this is the only one that's been found, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that end.
Sorry to 4J, but I don't think anywhere near as many people would have played and enjoyed Console Edition if they hadn't used Java's original textures. These do not fit with Minecraft at all
