Beautiful artwork in the boats. I live in South Carolina in the USA, each year, in August, there is a wooden boat show in a small Harbour town Named Georgetown. The boats are beautiful but not as elaborate as yours. Great video.

Hi Pascale and Troy, I was pleasantly surprised to see you here because I hadn't looked at the producers "label", so G'day! I have been to the Wooden Boat Festival myself in a previous life but now follow you two on Mirool and have reached Yamba so I'm a bit behind. Love all your vlogs but especially your "Someone asked me why I don't buy a catamaran, but I like sailing too much." I reckon you have given Mirool a new lease of life with her restoration. Happy sailing Guys!!!

I really appreciate hand-built stuff, the passion just oozes out of the final product. I work with metal but whatever the material, hand carved has it's own beauty.

What a wonderful episode. So much love for traditional boats, those owned by other people, but would *never* want the responsibility myself! Good to have Troy clarify what the little brass wheel was for. Sliding wine glass rack is pure genius. Needs no explanation .... 🤣 🥂🎉

One other thing....you may want to learn who Australians Stanley and Dot Bradfield were. In the 50's, they built D'vara, a Harrison Butler designed 30 foot double ended ketch that ultimately sailed many of the world's ocean. She was built of Jarrah, a western Australian hardwood, and Karri. The unique wishbone booms made the vessel different from the traditional straight boom design. In 1964, they published a book, ROAD TO THE SEA, detailing the building and sailing of D'vara from Australia. Somehow D'Vara made her way to my hometown, Pascagoula, Mississippi, in the early 70's, where she was falling into ruin tied to a mooring. A recently retired military man purchased the vessel and began a restoration process. That's when I met him (I was in my late teens) and we became good friends. After restoration, I sailed with him on D'Vara's first sail, and for the next few years, made frequent trips on the beautiful vessel. I encourage you to learn about D'Vara and read their book. I was lucky to find a copy many years ago and still cherish it to this day.

The practicality of a plastic boat is undeniable, but wooden boats, even humble but well maintained, are just gorgeous. My father had an all wood 18ft (~5.5m) catboat (I think I mentioned this in comments on another video). Eventually the maintenance requirements overwhelmed him, and he sold it. Many fond memories of that catboat....Cheers.

Ed Burnett was at the top of his game when he lost his life. He'd just designed the Royal barge Gloriana for the Queen's diamond jubilee. Story I picked up from the internet (I admire his work) was that he lived alone (i.e. no wife or kids) and his dog had just died. I'm guessing he just didn't see any point in going on after that.
    He is a great loss.
