    Gday Chris,
Have just been informed of your channel and already watched a couple of videos and read some comments, and I can tell you the memories are flooding back of a life growing up on that boat at Coles Bay, the Tamar River, Low Head and helping dad build and restore many a wooden boat. My one regret as with most I guess, Is I didn't pay enough attention to my father at the time, and now it's too late.
I watched the re launch at Gravelly Beach and It is extremely fitting that it was there, as that is where we lived and he built many more boats and fixed those pesky simplex engines. His ashes were spread on the river there too, so he was with you and Sarah Anne in some way.
I look forward to watching more of your efforts and reliving a lot of my childhood.

Oh John Tasman! You have stirred up deep emotions and memories of seeing you growing up as a little tacker. The last time I saw you you had your P plates and had taken over John’s Land Cruiser. It was at low head and John was building a house there at the time. There is so much I would like talk about.
Last I heard you were in WA? I’m back in Lonny now. I checked out your old house at Gravelly. A couple of days ago. Sat on the little beach in front where someone has removed every blade of marram grass for a couple of hours and reflected on things past.
I had a very brisk sail up to Rowella and just returned home to work on the video.
Please get in touch via messenger @smallsailboatcruising if you are on FB.
Sarah Ann has helped me in a lot of ways. Especially connecting with old friends. The most rewarding time was sailing her with three young boys at Kettering. They had just helped restore a Cooter boat and sailed her up the dentracasteux channel in the Gail to get to the rally. They were great sailors, and I confidently handed over the Helm to them within a couple of minutes of them being on board. We had a great time out there and I know John would’ve been smiling.
How’s your mum? I keep meaning to drop by and visit her. Will do soon.
I look forward to chatting with you. Kindly, Chris Sly

I was to have been at Cole’s Bay this past week but circumstances prevented it. My plan was to tell more of the story of Sarah Anne and do a trip down to Schouten Island. I still plan to do that in the near future, but I’m waiting for a weather window. Good that it didn’t happen because I’d like to chat with you about more of your memories before I did that

Your one of the very few people that would understand the emotion of recognizing the river from the small thumbnail photo as I was scrolling through UA-cam! Then to see Chris Flood, hear about my godfather, Jack and your Dad then to top it all off to see you on here.
All from my couch in Florida... So cool watching these videos. Randall (Wombat).

@@SmallSailboatCruising Hi Chris, I'm no expert to give advice on videos but I took an impromptu lesson from Paul at Sailing Kate Louise when I met up with him last year. One pointer he gave me was not to pan around with the camera. Just take video without moving. Otherwise when you paste them all together you can make the audience a bit dizzy. Also try a small fade between video clips to prevent sudden changes. I use VideoPad Video Editor which is a cheap and easy to use software.

As a predominantly solo sailer myself, my best friend is the electronic autopilot. It is almost mandatory imo to have it, especially if you need to get away from the helm (make a hot drink for example). I think it would make your life a lot easier and safer to perhaps invest in one :)

Chris, everything about this latest video shows your continued evolution and development of filming techniques. The Simplex discussion alone proves how years of knowledge can be shared which is invaluable to future mariners. Also these interviews and discussions are an affective way to archive years of experience and knowledge.
One thing I’d offer as an idea would to shortened this video into maybe three different vlogs. One for example could be the sailing experience with your grandson. Then maybe a video on the tidal/wind conditions of the Tamar heads and Sarah Anne’s sailing characteristics. Then perhaps a video about moorings at Low Head including historical information and the amazing marine life on the pontoons. Please don’t take this as a criticism but rather my impressions and ideas after watching a lot of UA-cam channels.
Your work and efforts are resulting in really interesting, educational and enjoyable presentations of Tasmania’s beautiful water ways. Keep up the great viewing 👍

Hi Chris, I stumbled onto your channel today. (Nice work) Do you still reside on the Sunshine Coast? I live at Birtinya and keep my little boat on the hard at Mooloolaba Marina. I was wondering if you would like to come for a sail. I brought it up from Tassie in November but haven't had the chance to sail her due to a shoulder reconstrction in early December but I should be ready to rock and roll very very soon. She's a rare (for Australia) Herrashoff America HA 18 Catboat. Kind regards. I really could use a hand. Cheers.

I like the sound of your Herreschoff. We moved back to Tasmania in May last year so we past by each other as ships in the night. Sarah Ann is settling into her home town very nicely.
